  1. Let's Look at the B1G Picture. With the Notre Dame loss to No ILL , 7 PO at large spots appear to be up for grabs. The B1G and the SEC are odds on to take most of the at large spots. WEEK 2 - B1G 14-4. No B1G team is 0-2. 13 B1G teams are undefeated. 5 B1G teams have 1 loss. SEC - 12-4. No SEC team is 0-2. 9 SEC teams are undefeated. 7 SEC teams have 1 loss. 2 ranked B1G teams, Iowa and Michigan, have a loss. 2 ranked SEC teams, LSU and A+M, have a loss. We'll know very soon, 2 PM Eastern, but Nebraska is likely to be in the Week 3 Top 25.
  2. Idaho is a top 10 FCS team. Boise is as good of a G5 team as I have seen since Cincinnati made the 4-team PO. Beat the Beavs, which will happen, defeat UCLA after the off week, and handle a decent Sparty team and the undefeated Ducks will play the undefeated Bucks on 10/12. However, I do question the -20.5 spread vs the Corvallis Crooks.
  3. Without these changes and improvements the Rodents could be favored over the Ducks. Hows that for lowering expectations? The Ducks are -20.5 vs the Beavers. However, in the last 2 games the Ducks have 'Under Covered' by 50 points! 😁
  4. Good points. Hard to rebut. However, this Boise team could be like the Cincinnati team that went to the Final 4. This is a team that can go 12-1, represent the G5 in the Playoff, and possibly win a 1st round game over a higher-seeded opponent overlooking a G5 'cupcake.' On the positive side. In its next 10 games Oregon can go 8 and 2 and so long as one of the 2 losses is not a blowout, make the Playoff field and be a tough out on the road in the 1st round. Look at the slate other than the game vs Ohio State. Will Michigan find an offense? Wisconsin is 2-0 but like Oregon, the Badgers 2 wins were close calls against lesser opponents. These are the 2 most difficult games other than tOSU that Oregon has left to play. It has been UGLY, but ugly wins are wins.
  5. The Mimosas and Bloody Marys taste better today in Eugene than in Tallahoser, South Bender, and Lessington. The Wreck is on a tow truck back to the ATL. The Terp lost its shell. It's Hog Hell, not heaven. War CAL! CAL?, There is no O in Ann Arbr. In Iowa City, the kids in the hospital waved to the players. Was that a Black Out in central PA.? There's an Amber Alert in Pullman for the Red Raider's horse. San Diego has plenty of vowels but can't buy a point. It's all right K State, you're not in New Orleans anymore. "So much upside yet to be realized." Brothers and Sisters, CAN I GET AN AMEN for Brother Charles? The Ducks likely set a record, as Puddles 'UNDER COVERED" by 50 points in the last 2 games. (SIGH.) 2-0. Next up a Texas Tech team that Wazzu manhandled comes to town. What's that? The next game is on the road against The Other Team Up North. Oh well. Can't expect much else from a guy who scheduled boise state, right? Then UCLA after an off week to help get things right with the Bruins coming off a game in Baton Rogue. Sparty who put a Terrapin on its back, and then The Ohio State University. The Ducks, like the Bucks, will be undefeated before kick-off on 10/12/24. (Is Danno pulling off a Rope-A-Buck?) Seriously, 2-0 is 2-0. Along with the 2 Os, Penn State, Iowa, USC, and Michigan are in the playoff hunt. Illinois is 2-0 with a victory over 19 Kansas. Wisconsin is 2-0 with a Bama team that had a hard time getting out of its own way vs USF coming to Madison. Nebraska is 2-0 and manhandled CU yesterday and shut down the Shedeur show. And UWho is 2-0. 😒 No doubt Ducks fans got over the preseason skis and let HUey BRIS in, but undefeated is undefeated. Keep on improving and fix the mistakes and come December 8th these early struggles will be a blip on the Committee's radar. 😁 Thanks, Charles, for suffering the slings and arrows and staying up to artfully cover the experience.
  6. I have 3 thoughts and an axiom. 1. I'm feeling blue because the sum is not as great as the Blue Chip parts. 2. We have met the enemy and They are Us. 3. Vince Lombardi: What in the hell is going on out there? AXIOM - You never, ever, never, schedule BOISE STATE. 2-0: Just win Baby and Have a Really nice day.😁
  7. Never A Doubt! Right? Whoa, Nellie! Mike West gets the dough and I get the gas. Meanwhile, Wazzu blew out Texas Tech. Could be worse. I could a Notre Dame fan. 😁
  8. Please, no score posting or score updates for games in process. These games are being taped. Thanks.
  9. Way to go, JJ! FSU last year, Texas this year. 😒
  10. Do not overlook the Cy-Hawk game. 21 Iowa vs. 29 Iowa State. This is a P4 vs P4 game and Iowa needs the win to stay in the Playoff hunt. Iowa plays at Ohio State the Saturday before the Bucks play the Ducks. The Hawkeyes miss Michigan, USC, and Oregon and play UW, UCLA, Wisconsin, and Nebraska at home. Iowa put up 37 points in the 2nd half in Week 1. The Hawkeyes D under DC Phil Parker will again be salty. Defeat the Cyclones and Iowa has a legit Playoff shot. 19 Kansas at Illinois is another P4 vs P4 game. Illinois looked better on both sides of the ball last weekend and has a legit shot at pulling off the upset in front of its first sell-out in 8 seasons. In another P4 vs P4 game, NW lost to Duke last night. The B1G is now 0-2 vs the ACC.😒 Indiana defeated W ILL last night 77-3 to go 2-0 This is the same W Illinois team that Wisconsin struggled against in Week 1. Hoosiers coach Curt Cignetti can coach. In his last gig, he was 52-9 at James Madison. I expect that he will have Indiana bowl-eligible this season. If Nebraska -7.5 defeats CU, the Cornhuskers should be ranked next week. An early in-conference game has Michigan State playing at Maryland today. With 7 at-large PO spots (likely 6 with Notre Dame's win over A+M and a soft remaining schedule) every OOC game matters; especially, if the last at-large spot comes down to the B1G and the SEC.
  11. Great take. How's Dabo doing without Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence? Gabe has the goods. No one can succeed at QB with guys in his grill.
  12. Barnes - Denial is not a river in Egypt. Where's a breathalyzer when you need one?😁
  13. B1G Writers B1G Picks. Friday Forecast: Tradition staff picks against the spread for Week 2 SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Staff picks against the spread for 10 of the biggest games on the schedule in college football for Week 2.
  14. Spot on David and not surprising but there is competition from NBC's Peacock now and I expect more streaming services will come online. I imagine FOX, ESPN, and Warner were not surprised by this ruling early in the game.
  15. CBS Sports B1G Takes. Big Ten Confidential: Penn State's offense has what Michigan sorely needs for Texas matchup - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Penn State was just one of the highlights as the conference enjoyed an impressive opening weekend
  16. Great take, David Marsh. But don't ignore ESPN and FOX joining with Warner to form the VENU streaming service. I think both current competitors see CFB broadcasts moving predominately to streaming.
  17. Thanks, 30. You might want to look at the Biggest B1G Games I posted on the B1G predictions thread.
  18. Tale of the Tape for the Second Helping of Potatos. Breaking down tape between No. 6 Oregon Ducks and Boise State Broncos DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Let’s dive into the numbers between Oregon and Boise State ahead of this Week 2 showdown.
  19. A Perfect 10? Let's hope so. Oregon's 10 most important players heading into week two against Boise State 247SPORTS.COM Who are the Ducks that are most important for success today? We break that down.
  20. Excellent trivia question answer: "I'm all in favor of it!" John McKay was one of two Ducks, John Robinson was the other, to find success at SC.
  21. WEEK 2 - The Biggest B1G Games. P4 vs P4 and a B1G P4 vs P5 Huge Game in Autzen. All teams below are 1-0. AP Poll rankings including Others Receiving Votes used. Friday 9/6 NR Duke at NR Northwestern -2: Tune in to see NW's temporary 'high school stadium' on the shores of Lake Michigan. A beautiful setting. 6 PM FS1 (All times Pacific.) Saturday 9/7 3 Texas -7.5 at 19 Michigan: Can the Wolverines D stop a Longhorns O that looked unstoppable last week vs. Colorado State? Can the Michigan O that struggled vs. Fresno State put up enough points to win the game? This is this week's B1G Headline game and the SEC Headline game. 9 AM FOX. 29 Iowa State at 21 Iowa -3: The Cy-Hawk Game. Iowa's D as expected, was solid last Saturday, and OMG!, the Hawkeyes O put up 37 points in the 2nd half! Get down on the 35.5 Over? 12:30 CBS 19 Kansas -5.5 at NR Illinois: A healthy Illini QB, Luke Altmyer, threw for 2 TDs on Saturday, and the Illinois O with a healthy QB looked much improved and against a lesser opponent, the D played as it did in 2022, before losing five starters to the NFL. This will be the 1st sell-out for Illinois in the last 8 years. 4 PM FS1. NR Colorado at 31 Nebraska -7.5: Batman and Robin, Sheduer Sanders, and Travis Hunter, balled out in the victory over North Dakota State. And they had to as CU showed another suspect D and O line. Cornhuskers QB Frosh Dylan Riola played as advertised last Saturday. With a win, Nebraska should replace one of the B12 teams, and Clemson, at the bottom of the AP Poll. 4:30 PM NBC NR Michigan State at NR Maryland -9.5: An early conference opener for two B1G M+Ms. Sparty QB Aiden Chiles was shaky last week while the Terps QB, Billy Edwards, Jr. played an excellent game vs D2 Howard. 12:30 BTN 28 Boise State at Oregon -19.5: Has OBD ever had a bigger game vs. a G5 opponent? The Broncos, 3-0 vs. Oregon all time, come into Autzen fired up after putting up 56 points on Clay Helton's Georgia State. For Pride, the Playoff, and Puddles sake, the Ducks offense better show up to play a four-quarter game. And the D better be prepared to hold down one of the nation's best RBs Ashton Jeantry and true Frosh RB, Sire Gaines. For what the Ducks have to do to put the Idaho embarrassment behind them, read Charles's excellent article up today on the Forum. 7 PM Peacock BUST THE BRONCOS!
  22. The 'House Settlement' Hits a Road Block. Why the NCAA's anti-trust settlement is currently on hold WWW.YARDBARKER.COM The NCAA announced a historic $2.8B anti-trust settlement with plaintiffs in May, but a federal judge Thursday says she won't approve it after raising concerns with parts of the deal. As far as I am concerned, this is good news. Billions for a 'settlement' that does not solve future concerns? Additional antitrust suits have been filed since the House settlement was agreed to by the litigants. No sign that Congress is coming to the rescue. NCAA, FILE BK Now! A Chapter 7 liquidation if necessary and not a Chapter 11 reorganization. The liquidation plan could include how college sports would be regulated without the NCAA. Different regulators, and different rules depending on the level of competition. $20+ Billion for what? Nothing.
  23. "Just my opinion." Horse Hockey! 'One picture is worth a thousand words.' You, Sir, presented a plethora of pictorial evidence, and your summation was spot on. If you enter this article as 'Exhibit A' into evidence and rest the prosecution's case, the judge, if he or she is awake, should award a summary judgment. No one, from the coaches to the locker room attendants was prepared to play this game. All expected the game to be over when the last note of the National Anthem sounded. Idaho had other ideas. On The Athletic, Bruce Feldman featured this no-show and pondered along with Idaho's Coach Eck, if the Vandals could have pulled off one of the biggest CFB upsets ever if Idaho had not lost four top players to the portal. For folks in Idaho, this could have been a 1980-like Miracle on Ice upset. FSU's loss to Georgia Tech would pale in comparison. (Please, Ducks, don't turn Boise into BC.) The Ducks escaped. Now with a second group of potato pickers coming to town, the pressure is on. Boise State off a victory remains the presumptive Playoff G5 representative. The Broncos will arrive in Eugene confident and not awed by playing the AP Poll's preseason-ranked No. 3 team. This is now a huge game for the Ducks. As I have suggested before, open every season vs. Portland State. Idaho would have been paid close to $700K to upset the Ducks, keep the money in-state, and not open with a top 10 FCS opponent. I think the ship will be righted on Saturday. But one other thing the Idaho game showed is a deficiency in O-line depth. One starter can't suit up and everything goes to Hades? Not good. Thanks again for an in-depth analysis that was tough to read but was spot on. Bust the Broncos!
  24. I'm blaming it on Solar. 😁 Or, maybe just Sol?
