  1. "A man's reach should exceed his grasp or what's a heaven for?" Great post, thanks. Hard not to believe when an agent is telling you how great you are? I wonder if some of these undrafted players were 'lost' in the massive coaching change without an on-field mentor there to give them sage advice? Figure Sewell and Dorlus are sure things next season. Where will the highly touted OL guys Mario brought in go? Lots of quality guys from the Pac-12 footprint will be high draft picks next season. Unfortunately, most don't play in the Pac-12.
  2. My bad, its the Cincy QB and not Willis slated to back up Marcus.
  3. I imagine Slovis would like a shot at the rumored $2M NIL money? Caleb Williams and Addison are from the DC area and are good friends. I think one reason Addison entered the portal on Saturday is because Slovis has not been all that to date in practice and in the spring game. QB Pickett is off to the Steelers and there may not be top drawer QB remaining at Pitt including Slovis. So Addison gets paid and has a better QB at SC throwing him the ball in a QB friendly system. Makes NIL and NFL business sense to me. Recall that Slovis lost his starting job to Dart who is now at Ole Miss. The is still a starting QB battle going on at Ole Miss. Dart has not seized the job.
  4. This year's Texas team comes in at 6 in the ESPN FPI rankings. I don't see it. Texas is a young team so I look to see more guys drafted in the future including RB Robinson. Georgia set a record with 15 players drafted. Cincy had 9 players drafted which is remarkable for a G5 program. I expect UGA will reload. Cincy?
  5. Respect your POV of course but I disagree. Nothing would help Oregon recruiting more than defeating the defending champ in its home state. It would be the most significant first game win for any coach in the Ducks history. It would nationally cement Lanning's bona fides to be a head coach. This game will draw far more eyeballs than any other game the Ducks will play in the regular season. It would give a much needed big time win to a conference that desperately needs such a win. Especially with media renegotiations on the horizon. Based on what we have seen and heard to date I expect this group of coaches to have the team ready to play up to its potential and not down to the level of the opponent. I don't expect this staff to blow the game like Mario did vs Auburn. If you are going to schedule these kind of games you have to win your fair share of same.
  6. Addison entered the portal on Saturday. Supposedly, both Bama and UGA are making a big effort to land Addison. SC may not be a done deal?
  7. These dogs can lose to anyone. I think Kent State will be better than the FCS Montana State team the Fuskies lost to last season? That said, with Michigan State visiting Seattle this is a reasonable OOC schedule. Look at the dreck UCLA is playing OOC? With a 4 team PO field 1 P5 opponent OOC is enough.
  8. The final 2022 Draft numbers by conference. SEC - 65 - Vandy 0 - this is to be expected. Auburn 1 - this is terrible for a 'big time' SEC program - 4.6 per team B1G - 48 - 3.4 per team. B12/Pac-12 - 25 - B12 2.5 per team Pac-12 2.08 per team ACC - 19 - 1.35 per team AAC - 19 - Cincinnati had 9 players drafted. The SEC again cements its CFB #1 conference ranking. It will of course add 2 more teams to the per team mix but OK/TX will add to the SEC's total numbers. Not sure about a Power 2? But there is definitely a Power 1. Sending guys to the NFL absolutely matters when it comes to recruiting so it becomes rinse and repeat.
  9. Until a player enters the portal coaches from other schools cannot make contact. But as you so noted the contact is made via a 3rd party. Has Addison entered the portal? Is this all smoke and no fire?
  10. Thank you. Isn't there a limit on the # of players from 1 team that CAC will rank?
  11. $2M for one season? WOW! Kid best repeat as the Bilitnikoff winner.
  12. A penguin and not a cat face plant? Heck of a stiff wing. You are broadening the horizon + it's still LOL! That's a clothes line and 15 yards; or, 15 fewer fish (duck?) Oregon vs the Cardinal and this would not have been called.
  13. McKinley will be a solid NFL player for 5 years plus.
  14. But I do think that DeBoer is a big upgrade over the Mistake at the Lake.
  15. McKinley? I don't get it. I think he will be a solid pro for a decade? I note that Kiper among others was very surprised he did not go at least in the 4th round? Has to be speed issues? The guy is a flat out baller.
  16. Read this. All about QB play per GS. I agree but kind of an obvious take? He believes 9-4 for the Ducks in 2022 would be a fine showing and Oregon is in the Natty hunt in 2023. I can't disagree because this is what I have been espousing. 2 top 25 opponents OOC and 5 road conference games is simply a witch. I agree that Nix will start and I also agree based on the spring game that he has it in him to make baffling throws. Love the hire of Lanning and the guys he has brought with him but again, and I hope I am wrong, I think 9-4 would be a darn good first year showing. For you and other Ducks out there how many Oregon coaches have won 9 games in season 1? Like GS I hope we see better results in 2022 but I want to be realistic regarding this season's team.
  17. I don't disagree but I don't think that today there is a wide enough door? It is turmoil based on what we once knew but it is the norm today. I don't like it but I am taking a deep breath and loving Oregon sports.
  18. But he will get more $. A K ST transfer who unlike this kid did not lead his team to the elite 8 just signed at Miami with a 2 year $800K deal. This young man has a $100K NIL deal. This is going to happen everywhere.
  19. ? But that's a good get by the Dolphins and he will make the team. Not getting drafted leaves out out of the first round salary draft agreement and into whatever you can prove up as a free agent. Make the team and your first contract cannot be less than that of a 7th round draft pick. I'm surprised that he did not go in the 4th or 5th round at least. Has to be a matter of speed and not on field play.
  20. Yes tomorrow and yes regarding SC and the rules. But if the young man enters the portal before day's end tomorrow he is fair game thereafter and eligible in 2022.
  21. Life's been good to me so far. (Except for my bleeping golf game!)
  22. More on Wong. Maybe he isn't wrong? Wong was instrumental in leading Miami to the Elite 8 last season. He has an NIL deal worth $100K. A kid who just transferred to Miami from K ST who was an OK player in the B12 comes in with a 2 year NIL deal worth $800K.
  23. Falcons pick, QB Malik Willis, as noted by Mel Kiper and other draft gurus, has the perfect guy to apprentice behind in Marcus Mariota.
