  1. UGA will be a true test. But I wish the game was being played after opening against Portland State?
  2. Thanks David. Great and spot on take. Vince Lombardi 'returning' as Mario Cristobal has me believing in reincarnation.
  3. $5M without me being a member? Hard to believe. If I played ball on this track they would gotten $10M! It takes a lot of skill to learn how to bounce a ball off a roof top and back to the fairway. Incoming!
  4. Thanks 30. I agree that Nix is on top at this point in time. He looked a little gimpy to me and one thing that needs to be worked on is getting his ankle back to 100%. If healthy and playing down by contact, I think Nix would have avoided two of the sacks called against him? Not surprisingly Nix, while making a couple of baffling throws, does look to have the best pocket awareness of the 3 QBs. Here's hoping that Ty and Butters stay on board through the summer. If a transfer does not occur by May 1 the player will not be eligible for 2022. This is the only control over what is today's CFB 'free agency.' The spring game, by design, was pretty vanilla. With the lack of running plays and no QB contact it looked more like a 7 on 7 game. But it was a lot of fun to watch those 'home run' tosses after watching '3 yards and a cloud of dust' for the prior 3 seasons. Also great to see the QBs take snaps directly from center and the unloading of the pistol. Dillingham has the freedom that Joe Moorhead would have wished for.
  5. I agree. With this schedule 9-3 with a north title would be a very good showing in year one. Things lighten up in 2023 with at Texas Tech replacing 'at' Georgia. And 4 and not 5 conference road games. It will be interesting to see where the 2023 game vs USC will be played? Caleb Williams is a true sophomore in 2022 so he will not be pro eligible until 2024, his 3rd CFB season.
  6. But going to Atlanta to start the season versus Georgia is not like honeymooning in Maui.
  7. Kurt, the NCAA is in the process of turning over P5/G5 regulation to the conferences. The Transition Committee is expected to release its regulation suggestions in July or August. As I have noted before, this committee is co-chaired by SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and the Ohio University AD. The NCAA has made some noise about NIL being used as recruiting inducement but after a 9-0 Supreme Court butt wiping I don't think the NCAA wants to face further litigation in the process of protecting the 'student-athlete' model.
  8. It's up to the school whether to immediately cut the scholarship when a player enters the portal. Some portal entries are re-recruited when they, like Seven, enter the portal. This was also the case with a Georgia 5* OL guy who entered the portal.
  9. Sir Charles, please forgive me dear Sir. FROM THE BARD - 'In the Spring. When proud-pied April dressed in all his trim Hath put a spirit of youth in every thing.' The 'spirit' includes all of these great comments. And perhaps, the pre-game shenanigans? Did Willy ever attend a spring game? Avon vs Oxford?
  10. Spot on. But Montana had the lesser arm but the far better head than did Favre. Bo has the Favre moxie. But the Joe Montana head?
  11. As a guy who lived for years in Las Vegas, I'm tipping my hat to the Atlanta platform of pulchritude. Plus, the tips are cheaper and better appreciated. Of course at grey beard + years it's all a (faded) memory now.
  12. Harder then turning over and hurdling a whole bunch of paper made from them logs! Probably, heck yes. Plus at the end of the day you go home and quaff, instead of thinking of papers to be pushed tomorrow and quaff.
  13. Agree about the coaches. But let's not ask too much of a brand new coaching staff coaching up guys they did nor recruit against a brutal schedule. Patience may be required this season? Georgia, BYU and Utah are not sliced liver,. All 3 can be defeated but they are far from cupcakes. And going on the road for 5 games in conference is not an easy ask. First, win the North. Then hopefully advance from there?
  14. THIS is the rub. Can he stop himself from throwing the ball into double and triple coverage? Also, will his ankle be fully healed? He is The Guy who gives the Ducks a shot against the Dawgs. The stadium in Atlanta vs Georgia? He has been there, done this. 0-3 to date. Now he needs the Puddles magic to go 1-3 vs an inexperienced UGA D, And the D will need to hold down a terrific UGA O.
  15. Great take. Under Dillingham he was the SEC Frosh of the season. I think at the level Oregon plays we best get used to the starting QB coming out of the portal. Let's remember that he was not in a throwing friendly O under Malzahn. Last season under Harsin? He was but for a blip against GA ST, balling. I think if Bo stayed healthy last season the Tigers do not take the L at home vs Bama? He will drive us nuts with the occasional throw into massive coverage, But he gives the Ducks the beat shot to win 'at UGA" and I hope he can get his ankle recovered to 'full speed' between now and the UGA game? When healthy he is a legit at least a semi dual threat QB. He looked a bit gimpy in the spring game. Hopefully by September 3rd he will be full go? You cannot duplicate experience in life. No QB on the roster comes close to this guy's, be it good or bad, game experience. I expect on 9/3 to see him starting his 4th game vs UGA. Hopefully with better results than the first 3 efforts? He has thrown 1 TD and 2 picks against UGA to date, But as they said in the Civil War, he has seen the Elephant. And he once beat the Elephant, Bama. And when he underachieved, for the most part it was against the best competition in CFB.
  16. AMEN. Experience matters. Especially when the opening game is at UGA and the 3rd game is versus a preseason top 35 team. I watched the Wazzu spring game. He wasn't all that consistent but Cam Ward looks like the real deal. Second coming of the 'Stache?
  17. Great take. 'Months away?. BUMMER! My only question? When is a 4/5* QB ready if not now? Not now under a new QB coaching group and a better O for QBs. I think that Ty has so much potential but if he can't get starting reps? I find this guy with boat loads of potential simply 'nervous in the service' game ready? How does ne get the starting reps he needs? I am frankly PO'd that Mario did not let the young man see the field last year behind and god bless him, a journeyman QB who had no shot at playing pro ball. Again, I respect Mario's recruiting but his use of talent on the roster was abysmal.
  18. Sublime. Where's the nearest golf course?
  19. Aiken is a great small town, growing to small city size. Texas BBQ vs southern fried chicken? Tough choice! Not only did I not get Master's tickets, for the 70th + year in a row I did not get invited to play! Can't believe the US postal service could to fail to deliver my invite so many years running?
  20. As I suggested above, I think Ty following Joe Moorhead to Akron could serve him and JM, well? He balls out in the G5/MAC and he will not go under the NFL radar. Ty needs game reps. May I humbly suggest that you swap out that 2 iron for a 4 or 5 hybrid! The game's hard enough; take advantage of this modern 'cheating,' equipment. (Also, I hope you are not playing balata balls?)
  21. Thank you Charles! Always enlightening. I was so glad to see a return to up-tempo football.
  22. IMHO, Ty needs to go where he can get reps against better players than he faced playing in Gilbert, AZ. His stats made Ty a 4/5*. But QB recruiting rankings are the most illusory of any position group. I just don't believe he is ready for 'prime time' and will never be ready if he doesn't play somewhere where he can get starting reps.
  23. He's the only guy in the QB room and who has defeated Bama and Oregon (SIGH.) IMO, because of his experience, the quality of the opponent and the game location he is the one guy who gives the Ducks a shot versus UGA.
  24. I think the future of the QB position for teams playing at the highest level of P5 ball is more likely to come from recruiting the portal than it is from recruiting high school? As Lane Kiffen noted: 'You have a far better idea of what you are getting with a transfer QB than with a kid out of high school. And, the transfer QB has used up his one chance at free agency without having to sit out a year.' It's just me, the young man obviously should and will lead his life as he sees fit and I would love to see him stay at Oregon, but I don't think it would be a bad thing if Ty was to follow Joe Moorhead to Akron? 5/1 is the cut off date for portal people to commit and be eligible in 2022.
  25. Hello Dawg friend. Hats off on the break through last year. It was good to see Kirby finally get over the Saint Nick hurdle. The only thing that frustrates me no end is that the game on 9/3 is being played in the ATL and not 'Tween the Hedges.' Anytime, anywhere for a H+H series but I don't like one off games against quality SEC teams in Dixie. It's not like Pac-12/SEC teams are not playing H+H. For example, Utah plays in the Swamp on 9/3 with a return game in SLC next year. Arizona plays the first of a H+H with MS ST this year. So, it's not like SEC teams will only play in LA (like LSU H+H with UCLA) for west coast recruiting juice. Down the road, Arizona has a H+H scheduled with Bama. I live in Aiken, SC. Once a year we make a point of tripping to Athens, GA.; absolutely, one of the best college towns in the USA. There is no doubt that the enthusiasm for college football down south is off the charts compared to the Pac-12. Eugene is one of the few Pac-12 towns/cities where the enthusiasm for CFB comes close to what you see in the SEC. The line is UGA -15. I have a bet down on OR +15. It will be interesting to see in what direction the line moves? (You didn't have enough quality TEs? You needed Gilbert Too? SIGH.) I know NIx is 0 for UGA. But at least he has played ball in the SEC and the crowd in Atlanta should not intimidate him. BTW, I love what your QB, The Mailman, overcame to start for Georgia. The only place where I respectfully disagree with your post. The Atlanta metroplex is not representative of a city down south in the manner of Tuscaloosa and Columbia, SC. Too many darn Yankees have moved to Atlanta. IMO, adult beverages and respectfully screaming your lungs out is what CFB is all about. Thanks for the visit. Look forward to 'talking' with you about the game.
