  1. I agree on Kiffin but he is close to signing a big extension at Ole Miss. Honestly, if you have a job in the SEC today and you are not Lincoln Riley headed to a blue blood, do you want to come and coach in the Pac-12? Apparently Kiffin is losing his OC who is following Brent Venables to Oklahoma. Oklahoma is the Ducks Alamo Bowl opponent with the game broadcast at the friendly viewer time of 9:15 ET. A big extension for Aranda is on the table and he feels a great deal of loyalty to Baylor. He is taking Baylor to the Sugar Bowl. Why would he want to leave Baylor for Oregon? Fickell is now coaching in the Power 5, in the B12. The 'new' B12 has 3 teams, 4. Cincinnati, 7 Baylor and 9 OK ST in NY6 Bowl games. Why leave the B12 for an inferior football conference? Why leave Cincinnati that he and his wife and family love for Eugene? Chip Kelly has a losing record at UCLA and he hates recruiting. Coach Pete, IMO, has no interest in getting back into the grind of coaching? He is being paid by both FOX, and by UW as an advisor to the AD. If he wanted back in he would have returned to UW. With the state of the conference, the fate of a new media deal unknown and the fate of a functionally insolvent network unknown, what's the draw to the Pac-12? Riley was drawn by LA, the money and the chance to reinvigorate blue blood USC. SC is the plum job in the conference. I doubt that Riley would have tripped to Eugene and whether Oregon could come up with $9M+? Chip bolted. Willie bolted. Looks like Mario is bolting and the way this all went down with Miami, who wants the guy to stay? Goodbye to you and your antiquated offense. I know Charles does not like the idea, but I would hire Justin Wilcox, Peter Sirmon and OC Musgrave. All who played for the Ducks. Wilcox never got a fair shake at CAL. Wilcox defeated Mario in 2020 and battled into the 4th Q against Oregon in 2021. It will not take $9M to hire Wilcox and he will be loyal to Oregon. Alabama OC Bill O'Brien is another guy I'd look at. The problem? He's tied up through the Playoff and assuming Bama beats Cincy, that means he's tied up through 1/10/22. Flyer candidate? If you want to watch up-tempo. high-flying O, bring in Jeremy Chadwell from Coastal Carolina. Thanks for the take. The next HC hire CANNOT be a stepping stone job.
  2. With the NFL rookie of the year at QB and by 1 point over a 3 loss team.
  3. Man had zero support at CAL. Man is LOYAL to Oregon. Man has competed and defeated Oregon. Bring in another outsider and you will see the same. As soon as the guy gets bona fides he is off to greener pastures. His record at CAL is not that far off from Mario's 62-60 record. He had zero recruiting support, budget and administrative support at CAL. He would be far from a Disaster. A disaster is having far better rosters than opponents and losing to them or allowing them to stick around in the 4th Q. He did not 'grow up in the area,' he balled out for Oregon. As did Sirmon and Musgrave.
  4. REJOICE?! Hire Oregon Men - Wilcox, Musgrave, Sirmon.
  5. Hire Wilcox, Sirmon + Musgrave.
  6. 62-60 is elite? OK.
  7. CHIP BOLTED. Willie and Mario left. Hire an Oregon Man, a guy who defeated SC last night, a guy who has coached at CAL with hands tied behind his back: HIRE JUSTIN WILCOX!
  8. Rose Bowl - 1 point win over a 3l team with the NFL rookie of the year playing QB in an exhibition game Conference championship that meant nothing after the L at ASU knocked the team out of the CFP Auburn? A game that was a lost due to game mismanagement; L against the 5th best team in the SEC
  9. And Clemson DC Brent Venables new HC at OK. Good luck Mario and don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.
  10. 62-60. THIS is Mario's record as head football coach. All of the excuses in the world cannot eradicate or alter this record. $9M for this? $9M for an offense that is antiquated, puts fans to sleep and allows crummy opponents to hang in for 4 quarters? You expect to road grade teams with a awesome OL and you have an OL coach is there only because of past associations. If Mario doesn't leave, the ceiling is the Rose Bowl when it is not a semi-final site. How can you have screwed up so badly that 4 and 5* QB recruits cannot beat out a mediocre, journeyman QB? If he leaves there are good options out there: Dave Aranda, Matt Campbell, Bob Stoops, Jeremy Chadwell, and home-boy Justin Wilcox. A guy who is fed up at CAL and with an administration and fan base that gives him no support. 1 final thought? Has anyone seen this great recruiting evidence itself on the field of play?
  11. The reason? The same coaching staff that ran the same 'stuff' vs Utah twice in 3 weeks and a team not motivated or ready to play. In other words, same old, same old. Mario is NOT going to 'grow' as a HC. Guys a year older under Mario will run an antiquated O no better than the Ducks players we saw last night. Mullens extends him, gives him a raise and bigger buyout, then both HC and AD should go.
  12. SSDD. Find someone who knows his butt from his elbow when it comes to offense in the 2020s. On talent alone, if recruits do not decommit, in this conference Mario will win 9 to 10 games. But the team will never be elite and the O will be put you to sleep boring.
  13. EVERY question you asked in your excellent article was answered last night in the negative.
  14. If there is a long term plan under Mario IMO it has yet to be revealed?
  15. The system on O is antiquated and not suited for today's game. Among other spot on questions asked by Herbie last night, where is the hurry up? In today's game you are not going to smash mouth your way to the CFP. Mario needs a top down review of the program including S+C and game preparation. Oregon being up and down this season has been the manner in which the Ducks have played under Mario. Recruiting numbers do not matter if the talent is not coached up and the numbers do not mean talent will automatically show up on the field of play. Look at the 2022 schedule. It will be one of the more difficult in the nation. You run the predictable O we have seen vs UGA in the 2022 opener and best of luck.
  16. This stat is impressive. Brown was under pressure on 41% of his pass attempts and there was not much blitzing by the Utes D.
  17. You want today's Chip? Hire Jeremy Chadwell from Coastal Carolina.
  18. P(layers) E(ver) R(eady?) S(eriously?)
  19. Hats off to Coach Whittingham, the Utah team and the Utah fans who tripped down Interstate 15 and allowed the game to be played in an alive stadium, and not in the void that was Santa Clara. Represent in the Rose Bowl! Other than that? I abhor excuses and why pile on when the game and product the Ducks put on the field speaks for itself; loud and clear. Go Ducks!
  20. Come mid-January, Chip's buyout is $0.
  21. Spot on! I'm all in favor of extending Puddles and giving him a pay raise.
  22. Utah at one time this evening had 8 frosh, true and COVID. on the field playing D. Ohio State, Oklahoma and Alabama QBs are all freshman.
  23. But we are getting smash mouthed. Run the other play?
  24. Please? Come on Canes.
