LOSING HAPPENS. If the favorite won on every occasion, why not just sim instead of play the game? Sim, and Oregon does not take a loss at Stanford. When your team takes an L you at at very least want it to show up and play to its ability. And you do not want the L to come against teams that should not be on the same field of play with you. And if you are less than a 3 point dog (cat?) you do not want to get blown out. On a given day an underdog playing hard and defeating you is one thing. Not showing up to play at the level of your ability is entirely different. On too many occasions Oregon under Mario has simply not been prepared to play ball anywhere close to its level of ability.

The Egg Bowl last night made me yearn for 'the good old days." When the games were entertaining and not a grind. When top drawer receivers played in space and made some excellent catches. But also where the spread set up very good run games. Faced paced offense, spreading the field, with solid D by both teams. Hats off to Lane Kiffin for finishing 10-2 and in his 2nd season having Ole Miss set to play in the Sugar Bowl or the Peach Bowl. Ole Miss/MS ST was a chance to watch up-tempo college football, compared to watching Mario's go slow, pro-like offense. It will be very interesting to see if Mario has the team ready to play tomorrow? Only 1L in Autzen for Mario to date. But the Beavers will be coming in motivated and with a very good run game. Way motivated if UW wins the Apple Cup and the Beavers are playing for a North title. Play like vs Fresno, Arizona, CAL and at Utah and the Beavs win.

Mullens has been a great OC where ever he has been. His problem at UF was not being able to recruit to the level of UGA and the team after a couple of close Ls, including a 2 point L to Bama, gave up on him and the season. Mullens just got a check for $6M and UF owes him another $6M. I don't see him being interested in an OC position when I think he will get another HC job in a couple of years; if he wants to work again? Frankly, I don't think he'd be interested in reporting to Mario?
