Breaking Down Oregon’s Potential Quarterfinal Matchups Against Vols, Buckeyes
I'm a coward who prefers to play No. 16 Clemson rather than No. 3 Texas. I like the idea of playing Clemson in Dallas rather than Texas in Miami. Texas has a better offense and defense than Clemson. The pressure is on Ryan Day but it is also on Sark. Texas is the FPI (🤪) favorite to win it all and IMO has received far too much love in 2024. Somehow, Texas missed every ranked SEC team other than Georgia. The Horns did not play Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Mizzou. Rinse and repeat this schedule in 2025; think the SEC wanted Texas? Texas went 0-2 vs. PO-bound Georgia with QB Beck out in the second half of the SEC champ game. Texas does not have a Committee Top 25 win. All Hat, no Cattle? And SEC fans beef (Bevo?) about Oregon's schedule? OBD is 3-0 vs. playoff teams and has a win over No. 20 Illinois. What big game in his career has Sark won? Vandy? Oklahoma State? Oklahoma this season finished 6-6. Dabo, like or loathe him is one of two active coaches with a CFB PO Championship; two such championships. Kirby Smart is the other, also with two. Mack Brown who was the third has been replaced by the youthful Billy Bob Belichick. The winner of Clemson at Texas has to play ASU in Atlanta. Clemson is only a 90-minute drive to Atlanta. I'd rather defend Clemson running back Muhfa than Skattebo. TRASH TENNESSEE. BLOW UP THE BUCKS!

Breaking Down Oregon’s Potential Quarterfinal Matchups Against Vols, Buckeyes
Here's a good reason to want tOSU in Pasadena. Does anyone other than a Vols fan want to listen to Rocky Top for 270+ minutes? 😩

Breaking Down Oregon’s Potential Quarterfinal Matchups Against Vols, Buckeyes
Thanks. Jordan, I'm staying true to "my conference" and the $200K that comes OBD's way with an Ohio State win (NIL for a 3rd string-long snapper?) helps the Buckeyes cause. Several SEC teams play a late-game cupcake as part of an 8-conference game schedule, and not because no player gets beat up like the SEC players. Playing 8 games inflates win totals; especially, when teams like Ole Miss and Missouri play 4 pushovers OOC. This season, Tennessee finished 15th out of 16 in SEC Conference Strength of Schedule. The Vols had a good win over Bama at home but the Tide were not road warriors in 2024, losing to Vandy and Oklahoma on the road. The Vols were never in the game at Georgia and failed to show up at Arkansas, an average football team. When you play the next-to-last easiest conference schedule in this day and age of mega-conferences, you are not ipso facto playing tough opponents just because they are SEC teams. OOC, the Vols played a disappointing NC State, Chattanooga, Kent State, and UTEP. Ohio State also played donut holes OOC. The Vols finished 0-1 vs PO teams; the Buckeyes finished 2-1 with a 1-point loss to OBD. These are two very good teams but one is not better because of the conference in which it plays. The SEC is a deeper conference than the B1G with six PO-worthy teams with Georgia at the top but Ohio State had the more rigorous in-conference schedule with one extra conference game. Traveling to Northwestern is more difficult than playing UTEB at home. I think OBD will play Ohio State in the Rose Bowl on 1/1/25, an iconic and rather ironic, Rose Bowl matchup. BLOW UP THE BUCKEYES! VANQUISH THE VOLS!

Joe Moore Award
This was the season of the G5. Army with the Joe Moore and Boise with a bye? Ridiculous. As was giving Notre Dame a top-25 win with Army No. 20 in the final ranking. Notre Dame's best win of the season. 😧 Seriously? It would be a JOKE; except, multi-millions of dollars are involved. I have been critical of the NCAA but the NCAA's football playoffs are structured and managed far better than this ESPN Playoff nonsense.

Who do You Want the Ducks to Play? The Buckeyes or the Volls?
For the PO $, Ohio State. For not having to beat a motivated team twice, Tennessee. Vols QB Nico has been good, not great, at home and average at best on the road. The TN D is very good. The tOSU D is the best in CFB. I think it will be the Buckeyes who win this day. Weather forecast for Columbus, Ohio on 10/21. High 30 degrees. Low 19 degrees. Wind 10-15 mph. With an 8 PM KO, it will be closer to 19 than 30 at the start of the game. The wind chill factor could be between 9 and 4 degrees. 🥶 The last time Ohio State lost to Michigan and made the PO along with Michigan, Ohio State let it all hang out, and if Marvin Harrison had not been injured the Buckeyes likely win the game vs. Georgia and go on to defeat TCU in the champ game. In 2024 this Buckeyes team lost 2 games by 4 points.

Stewart Mandel: "No Question, Oregon's Route is Brutal"
The Joel Klatt Playoff Fix. I'd Add and Lose Gus Johnson! Joel Klatt's plan to fix the College Football Playoff WWW.FOXSPORTS.COM Oregon's path to winning the national championship showed the biggest flaw with the College Football Playoff field. FOX Sports' Joel Klatt offers his plan to fix the CFP. Good luck turning scheduling over to a committee 😁.

Are Dan Lanning's Ducks "Keystone Species" of the BIG Ten Conference?
😁 Pennsylvania is The Keystone State. Using 'keystone' was not punting, but punning.

Stewart Mandel: "No Question, Oregon's Route is Brutal"
This is what B1G Commissioner Tony Petitti's 14-team PO field would have been in 2024/25 Group A - 1. OREGON - Bye - OBD plays the lowest-ranked team remaining after the 1st round games. Game to be played in Eugene. 13. Miami at 4. Penn State 11. Alabama at 6. Ohio State 9. Boise State at 8. Indiana Group B - 2. GEORGIA - Bye - UGA plays the 2nd lowest-ranked team remaining after the 1st round. Game to be played in Athens. 14. Ole Miss at 3. Texas 12. ASU at 5. Notre Dame 10. SMU at 7. Tennessee 5 SEC/ 4 B1G/ 2 ACC/ 1 B12, Independent, G5. Greg Sankey would be happy with this. The ranking used above is the Committee's final ranking. Under the aegis of the Power 2, a G5 team is in but Boise would be ranked 14th. The Committee if it exists, would be far less opaque and reveal its metrics like the CBB Committee. Like the CBB, there should be one early release of the top 16 teams with no comment and a final release with the Committee Chair explaining variances between the metrics used and the ranking. This will not happen with ESPN 'owning' the PO through the 2031-32 season. Fans of the two top-rated teams would be able to attend a game on campus. I'm far from certain of what the PO format will be in 2026 but I am certain it will not look like this season's hideous hodge-podge. Vacate the Vols! Blister the Bucks!

New Ones! GFAWW! Need a Good Laugh?
Not that it's a huge difference but UT (allowed to use this per the SEC + not Texas 😁) is located in Knoxville but Vols fans will travel from everywhere they reside. I expect a sellout crowd rooting vociferously for the Buckeyes, at least before the first screw-up. Vols freshman quarterback Nico I -----, etc., does not play well on the road. TN had one of the weaker in-conference SEC schedules this season. The loss at Georgia is of course acceptable. A bad road loss at Arkansas is not. 8 PM KO in Columbus. 🥶

Stewart Mandel: "No Question, Oregon's Route is Brutal"
This ESPN SEC-Centric Extravaganza is a Hose-Job by Design. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey was somewhat hoist on his own, Design By Greg petard, SMU in over Bama 👍, but 5 of the 7 playoff bowl game sites in Dixie in 2024 and 2025 makes the format SEC-centric even with 3 SEC teams in the field. And, although I opined otherwise, I am not certain that in the 3rd round OBD would have to play Texas in Dallas, instead of in Miami. The 16 team solution with teams seeded as ranked works. As would a 14-team field, Oregon and UW would have 1st round byes and then Oregon would play the lowest remaining seed in Eugene with Georgia playing the 2nd lowest remaining seed in Athens. Home fans of the top two teams would be rewarded with at least one home game and the top 2 teams would be rewarded with a 3 game run and not 4 games, to a title. With the NFL PO and the NCAA Football Tournamnet formats as a guide, how did this get so screwed up? Follow the Disney/ESPN/TNT $. The format needs to be TNTed ASAP. 😍

Will The Playoff 3rd Round Be Played in Dallas? Against Texas?
I have expressed my belief that OBD, should it win the Rose Bowl, would have the choice of playing Clemson/ Texas, or ASU, in the Orange Bowl or Cotton Bowl. OBD should have the choice, especially if Texas advances but I cannot confirm this. If the CFB Powers-That-Be mandates that the No.1 seed has to play an 'away game' in Dallas vs. the Longhorns, this will confirm how screwed up and SEC-centric this format is, including seeding and the location of the games. If anyone can nail down where the OBD's 3rd round game will be played it will be much appreciated.

Only 12,000 Tickets Allotted To The School?
Reasons -1. A broadcast entity that controls 90% of the bowls runs this postseason tournament; 2. college football is fractured with no central leadership; 3. athletic departments are drowning in debt and took the ESPN monetized lifeline and to hell with the student-athletes and the fans who are the true lifeblood of the programs if the fans can't get tickets or can't afford to travel thousands of miles for games, Tough wick. This PO format is broken, from selecting the teams to where and when the games are played. GOOD! The feedback is loud enough that it may be clear to the donut holes running things and it doesn't hurt that Bama was the 1st team out. There will be changes made in 2026, if not before, and an entirely new structure in the 2030s. PS - How'd you like to be a Sun Devils fan? Your team played a more difficult schedule than G5 Boise State. ASU has one more loss but ASU's 2nd loss was on the road at Cincinnati with the Sun Devils QB, Leavitt, unable to play. The Committee is supposed to recognize key injuries. One common opponent - ASU 48 Wyoming 7; Boise 17 Wyoming 13. ASU defeated P4 Mississippi State OOC, It was close in Eugene as we well know, but Boise defeated no P4 opponent. (Unless you want to count Wazzu.) Boise as the 3-seed plays in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, AZ. As the 4-seed, ASU is rewarded with a bowl game in Atlanta, Georgia. A 90-minute drive from Clemson, SC, and also closer to probable opponent Texas. College Football Network Strength-of-Schedule Rankings (a compilation of all available SOS Rankings after the Week 15 champ games) Arizona State - 35; Boise State 78. Res ipsa loquitur, I rest my (futile) case. Under this vapid format, Boise does deserve a bye but not ahead of a P4 champion. I see ZERO justification for this abomination other than: Because, Peons, We Said So! I believe on 1/1/25, agents of ESPN will refer to the game as: "The Rose Bowl" with neither equivocation nor qualification.

I'll Show You Mine if You'll Show Me Yours!
OBD wins the Rose Bowl and it will have its choice of semifinal sites between the Orange Bowl, on Thursday, 1/9/25, or the Cotton Bowl on Friday, 1/10/25. As a member of the SEC, Texas no longer has a tie-in with the Cotton Bowl. The Champ game is 1/20 in Atlanta. If the semifinal is versus Texas, I think OBD opts for Miami. Dallas is just up the road from Austin and the Orange Bowl means one more day to travel home and prepare for the champ game on 1/20.
