According to Perloff on Maggie & Perloff, the Ducks are in Oklahoma in the College Baseball Playoffs!
I guess these two college sports 'experts' were too Soon(ers) at the bar and stayed later than closing time? 🍻 Understandable confusion, once upon a time, Nebraska was Oklahoma's biggest rival. 🙃 They're two Fly Over states, who cares? 😴

Championship You Most Desire
Presumptuously jumping in. (I know, you're shocked 😁!) For younger Gators, it has to be the iconic Tebow. For a person in advanced middle age, I'll take Steve Spurrier as the all-time greatest Gator. Steve won games for the Gators at QB and also as Florida's head coach. Steve was known coast-to-coast well before (un)social media. In 1966, Spurrier won the Heisman Trophy. The 1st time a Gator won the Stiff-Arm. (I was a senior in HS and watched Steve play ball.) Spurrier finished with a college coaching record of 228-89-2, a .718% winning percentage. He amassed this record coaching Florida, which he transformed into an SEC power, as well as at 'punching bags', Duke and South Carolina. He was the SEC COY on 5 occasions and the ACC COY twice in three seasons at Duke. In 1996, under Spurrier, Florida won its first national title in football, defeating rival No. 1-ranked FSU 52 - 20 in the Sugar Bowl. The victory was made sweeter by Florida having lost 24-21 to the Seminoles in the regular season. If you have two QBs you have too many? In 1997, Spurrier took Florida to a 10-2 second-place SEC finish behind Tennessee, alternating QBs Doug Johnson and Jesse 'The Bachelor' Palmer on every play, and occasionally, also playing QB Noah Brandise. Spurrier's O was justifiably referred to as the 'Fun N Gun.' Tebow was one of the greatest Gators, but Spurrier elevated Florida as a player and a coach. Oh, and don't forget the great one-liners. In 1993, Florida State was put on probation for agents paying for free shopping trips at Foot Locker. (I know 🤣, compared to today?) Spurrier: 'You know what FSU stands for, don't you? Free Shoes U.' Asked about a fire at the Auburn football dormitory that destroyed twenty books. 'The real shame is that 15 hadn't been colored in yet.' 'You can have good ballplayers and still not win games. All you LSU fans know that' Spurrier loved to tweak his home state of Tennessee. 'Peyton Manning came back to Tennessee for his senior year because he wanted to be the first three-time MVP of the Citrus Bowl.' 'You can't spell Citrus Bowl without UT.' I rest my case 🤓.

Wondering What our Pro Ducks are Doing? (2)
There's a reason why Golf is Flog spelled backwards.😁 One guy, JJ Spaun, who played his college golf at San Diego State, finished -1 to win the 125th playing of the US Open. Every other player finished over par. And these are the best players in the world.

So, We're all Waiting for FOOTBALL, but There is Other Stuff to Discuss
When your Fraudulent Power Index has 81.25% of the SEC in the top 25 😜, I expect at least three SEC teams to go undefeated, with the three not-ranked SEC teams all going 0-8 in conference. 🦨

College Football Playoff Controversy: Time for Big Ten Commissioner to Explain his Radical Proposal
USA takes a look back at what the PO fields would have been with a 16-team, 5-11 format. Big winner? Not the SEC, it's The B1G. Who benefits from College Football Playoff expansion to 16 teams? WWW.USATODAY.COM If College Football Playoff indeed expands to 16 teams, it will become a more attainable destination for three-loss teams from coast to coast. FWIW, I believe the B1G should go with the 5-11 format, IF the SEC plays 9 conference games.

SEC Overhyped/Underperforms in College Baseball: Passed by the FORGOTTEN Group...
In this CWS, Parity has replaced SEC. Talk of power conferences taking over the College World Series was premature judging by 2025 field APNEWS.COM Six conferences and an independent will be represented at the College World Series. None were among the final eight in Omaha a year ago. The dominant conference would have been the former and real Pac-12. Not the Pac-7 plus Gonzo. Arizona, Oregon State, and UCLA. How did 'THEY' screw 'THIS' up?

House v. NCAA Settlement Payments on Hold Amid Legal Challenge from Female Athletes on Title IX Grounds
Again, the Title IX appeal has not put payments on hold. The Title IX plaintiffs will not be 'irreparably' damaged if revenue sharing payments begin. If the appeal is successful, monetary damages will adequately compensate the plaintiffs (and their lawyers 🤮). 'Clarity' regarding this settlement is akin to 'commitment' in the world of football recruiting. The road ahead after the NCAA settlement comes with risk, reward and warnings APNEWS.COM The annual National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics convention this week included a very hot topic: The $2.8 billion NCAA antitrust settlement.

Illinois went 5-1 in one-score games in 2024, so caution is advised. However, Illinois returns 18 starters who won 10 games last season, including the 2nd-ranked B1G QB, Luke Altmyer, and, according to USA Today, plays the easiest B1G schedule. The Fighting Illini +630 to make the PO is one of the best available future bets. With a game at Duke, Illinois may not go 3-0 OOC, but it will be no worse than 2-1. The two toughest conference road games will be at Indiana and UW. Illinois hosts USC and Ohio State. It's sweet to draw Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland, and Northwestern. +630 for Indiana, 12th most difficult schedule per USA Today, is also worth a look if you believe QB Mendoza out of Cal will be as effective as Kurtis Rourke, coming over from MAC-member Ohio, was in 2024. The opening B1G game for both teams sees Illinois playing Indiana in Bloomington.
