Advantage for Oregon If They Finish the CFP Rankings No.1?
And time for Tez, Marcus, etc. to get healthy. The opening 1st round game will be played on 12/19 with the other 3 played on the 20th. Having a bye means your team is off from the champ game on 12/7/24 to 1/1/25. So 24 days off before playing in Pasadena and added time to prepare for the first PO opponent and game. How about an Old School matchup against Big Ten Indiana?

Riley is Making a Change at USC
EXACTLY. He had a significant roster advantage in the B12 (like Jimbo Fisher had in the ACC) and dysfunction in Austin, Texas. His teams outside of B12 play? 0-3 as a playoff head coach. 60+ points surrendered vs LSU and Joe Burrow. The guy who hired Riley was forced out, current AD Jen Cohen had nothing to do with the hire. College Station Fanatics came with oil money to buy out Jimbo. Is football that big of a thing today in South Central? Would SC boosters come up with at least $50M if Jen wanted to get rid of Riley? I don't believe that SC is committed to football like it once was. Moss was nothing special at QB and kept throwing untimely interceptions. Maiva was very good at UNLV last season and he has better wheels than Moss. With the season down the drain after a huge opening win, Riley needs to see what he has in Maiva and if positive, keep Maiva out of the portal. Moss has another year of eligibility but he isn't the answer. Reilly tried to pick up Will Howard but SC's NIL program is JV compared to Ohio State, and Oregon. SC needs to win 2 of the next 3 games against Nebraska, at UCLA, and Notre Dame l to be bowl-eligible. How fired up will SC players be to trip to El Paso or Shreveport or SoFi? I think Cohen likely knows that SC needs a culture change and a recruiter like Danno but where is the money coming from to get rid of Riley and pay a new coach @$10M a year? I feel so sorry for the first team to bail from the Pac-12. 😁

Oregon Is No.1
A Shout Out From the AP! Oregon gets top billing in College Football Playoff's opening rankings, Ohio St 2nd and Georgia 3rd APNEWS.COM Undefeated Oregon got top billing in the first set of rankings on the road to college football's new, 12-team playoff. No. 5 is the PO At-Large sweet spot although if Boise is the 12 seed the 1st round game will not be a piece of potato pie. Beat the 12 seed and it's likely on to the Fiesta Bowl for a game against the 4-seed B12 representative. I will not be surprised if both the three and four seeds lose in the 2nd round. Utah is having a very bad year. But No.9 BYU, -3.5, travels to Salt Lake City for the Holy War game this Saturday and there is a reason for the skinny spread in this heated rivalry game. A BYU loss would give the Prime Time Buffs, blown out by Nebraska, a good shot at making the B12 title game and with two losses, having a 1st round bye. 😒 Trash the Terps!

B1G Football: Some Say “Physicality.” I Say “Bad Offense.”
Great Take, yes. Georgia at Ole Miss should be a PO eliminator. Tennessee has a game to play at UGA, and Texas still has to visit Texas A+M.

Week 11 Could be Interesting in the B1G
Good post, thank you. HOWEVER, Friends 30 + Kam, PLEASE STOP ROOTING FOR B1G PO CONTENDERS TO TAKE A LOSS. OBD is a Junior Partner and needs the post-season Money Ball dues. OBD needs PSU and Indy to keep on trucking and be rewarded with a Delightful Dozen Invitation so the B1G goes PO 4 for 12. One more than It Just Matters More. I'll bet a Nittany Lions Lid and a Hoosiers Lid against a UW Lid in a White Out and a Michigan Lid with the Wolverines playing a team with an offense with a pulse led by a top-drawer CFB QB in Kurtis Rourke. Michigan State at OREGON - Ducks 31 - Sparty 10. Indiana AT Michigan State - 1st Q. Sparty 10-0. Final - Hoosiers 47 - Sparty 10. USC at UWho - Another SC 4th Q choke was needed for the Fuskies to win in Seattle. Things are so bad for SC that Miller will gather Moss on the bench. I'll give you UWho +14 and +14 on Nobody Has It More Mediocre Than Us! 😁 Terminate the Terrapins!

Oregon Back On NBC for Wisconsin Game at 4:30 PST
6:30 PM local kick-off time in November in Wisconsin? I was hoping for a B1G Noon game with the kickoff at 11 AM local and far more sober Badgers on hand. Or a least a 2:30 PM local time kick-off. IMO, this was the worst draw for OBD. Players will have to sit around all day and even if the conditions are dry, it will be cold. The flight in is not terrible. Approximately 4 hours from Eugene to Madison. No. 8 of 8 in a row then finally a week off before UW.

Jedd Fisch vs Lincoln Riley

USC Can't Afford to Keep Riley
He certainly has a better head coach and he is in a system that fits him. Denver was the perfect team for Bo to go to.

USC Can't Afford to Keep Riley
Cignetti grew up in Pittsburgh, His Dad was the head coach at West Virginia. He coached for Nick Saban, he was Nick's recruiting coordinator before taking a pay cut to become head coach at Indiana University Pennsylvania. Then he coached Elon University in North Carolina before taking the James Madison job in Virginia and seamlessly moving JMU up from FCS to FBS. Easy for me to say but I do not believe money is Cignetti's main objective. He moved up from $775K at JMU to $4M+ at IU. $4M goes a long way in Bloomington, Indiana. Cig is an East Coast guy. It's East Coast also for his wife who he met at IUP. He has led Indiana to a historic 9-0 not based on great recruiting but on superior portal picking and terrific coaching that has the Hoosiers playing together as well as any team in the country. He's 63 years old. Does he want or need a job in LA when he's a folk hero in Bloomington? Also, Cignetti, including assistant coaches brought over 30 support people with him from JMU. How many would opt to follow Cig to a gig out west? I can see Auburn and Kentucky being of interest but even then, why take on the stress of the SEC when he has Indy rolling in the Big 10 and has Indiana on good to top recruits radar? Winning in Columbus is not inconceivable and would open the recruiting floodgates. (He also has a national media supporter in IU graduate Heather Dinich.) Is USC a top job any longer? I'm far from certain and how many folks today Love LA?

USC Can't Afford to Keep Riley
DM, great comment. I'd add this, Riley's play calling and in-game management is B-A-D Bad! UW has a good pass D and a porous run D and Riley emphasized the pass with a QB far from Heisman contention and a group of underachieving WRs. There's a reason why the man as a coordinator at Oklahoma and the head coach in Norman did not win a Playoff game. Riley is 2-4 in bowl games, 0-3 in Playoff games. When Riley was in Norman, Oklahoma had a decided roster advantage in the B12 and most often faced a dysfunctional Texas team. He is in over his head but do SC boosters have the desire to buy him out? SC's NIL program has been half-gassed. After keeping Helton on board for so long and becoming a top academic institution, is football still the biggest thing in South Central. The attendance for the last home game was embarrassing. Oh, the irony. SC was the first to go B1G/Fox and break up the Pac-12. 😁
