  1. We need Rick Barry to show these guys how to shoot free throws.........the underhanded way.
  2. JH, class act and a hell-of-a QB. Their D was again horrible. Can't put a team on your back and have no D support. Like the way Staley goes for it. One of the best games of the year. Achieving the tying TD with no time was unbelievable. Something needs to be done about the pass interference calls the home team seems to invariably get (esp for uncatchable throws)
  3. Bama wins 35-21 Ga passes for 178 Bama passes for 275 No turnovers caused by Ga 2 sacks for Ga
  4. Let's see, 10-2 record playing for a Rose Bowl berth. A team comprised of primarily freshmen, RS freshmen and sophomores. How the sky must be falling. Remember back some of you when we would go 1-8 but have a "successful" season when we beat the Beavers. As long as MC and staff can recruit at such a high level and put a goodly # of players into the "league".......then we have a chance to be not just good but very good. Did we get spoiled with the glory years of the Chipster......from an offensive point certainly. But we're building a consensus power in this conference. I guess some people wouldn't be satisfied if they got hung with a new rope.
  5. I thought NIL was going to be the death knell of college football...........now it's salaries that will also distinguish the few of the haves from the vast majority of the have nots. Now that both reasons are currently in place I fear that we're destined to have a Conference or two of the super rich. One can surely feel badly for the ND players as as for USuc, I didn't really need another reason intensely dislike them (now reason #345). Times, they are a changing.
  6. Thanks Charles. It's really interesting to see the breakdown of an individual play and all the component pieces that go into a successful attempt. We wouldn't see that degree of complexity by just watching the play unfold.
  7. I felt all along that Herbert was being protected by his coaches by limiting what he could do.....primarily because they had no one behind him to really take over the QB helm. He rarely ran until the last two games of his Oregon career. Was that a wise decision on the part of the staff??? Well, he never got seriously injured more than once and he's still physically OK to do the things we enjoy watching him do in the NFL. It certainly is heartwarming to see him doing so well for the Chargers......and now having an improved O line in front of him. It's the only team I care to watch on Sunday (or hopefully Monday evening).
  8. A great QB can make an average team much better......maybe even very good. An average QB, unfortunately, doesn't make a good team better. One can only hope than an average QB doesn't hurt your team. I was also aware that we had receivers go unrewarded for their efforts of getting open. Now teams know that our Q can hurt them with his legs more than with his arm and Utah made sure that he was unable to do so. Unless he's better with his arm Saturday, the Beavs are going to make this a horribly long afternoon....no matter how well the defense plays.
  9. U of O 31-28 3 turnovers created 3 sacks 178 passing yds
  10. 10-4 after bowl win 31 pts/game allow 24 pts/game Defense gets better, gets more turnovers with tighter secondary play More pass rush creating more turnovers Tough game at UCLA but we beat the Beavs
  11. 10-4 lose bowl game but get in championship (pac 12) 31 pts/game give up 24 pts Based on D getting more pressure and playing better and better. Forcing more TOs DBs playing tighter and getting more interceptions.
  12. Oregon 28-24, 2 turnovers, 3 sacks, 170 yds passing
  13. One of the things holding Justin H back was not being able to fully utilize the run/pass option. Oregon felt that he needed protection from injury and kept the run aspect under wraps for almost his entire career. What he did in the last game ...the Rose Bowl...showed just how multitalented he actually was. Was protecting him a mistake? Probably, but he certainly did develop as a wonderful passing QB.......thus developing that aspect to the fullest and getting him ready for the Pro ranks. Receivers he now has working with him have made a huge difference. Way too many dropped passes while in college. Feel privileged to have watched both him and Marcus in the Oregon Glory years.
