  1. Could it be that our coaches are quite satisfied with the QBs already on campus and are keeping their powder dry in order to use it further down the road.
  2. I can't find fault with the line.....but our Duckies will have to prove them wrong.
  3. I think it's almost like the professionals and pro sports "free agency" and it's about to become untenable. Hit the Transfer portal to see who'll bid on your services? The athletes in college aren't signing contracts like the pros do. I'm afraid it's a death knell to the game we grew up watching with so much passion. Fan loyalty is far greater than student athlete loyalty and those young minds, especially those from unfortunate backgrounds. "Get the $$$ from whoever offers the best deal"??? You betcha. It's inevitable that fan loyalty will diminish over time as well. With a lot fewer millennials interested in sports, the fan base will diminish over time. It's not over yet but I don't think the NCAA has many years left to salvage what we know as college football.
  4. Sounds like the "training" the Navy Seals go through. The best of the best. It'll be interesting to see how the players react.
  5. found his interviews usually interesting.....probing even. Signed up for the newsletter. Don't always agree with him but he does writes well and interviews well.
  6. My folks took me to Hayward Field when I was a junior in high school at Medford High. Year was 1963 and I watched the Ducks beat OSU on a beautiful day. Won 31-14 even though Mel Renfro couldn't play. Dave Wilcox and Co. were terrific. Hooked me then
  7. I have enjoyed Justin Herbert's success........other than that, I could give a darn (I cleaned that up a mite). NBA??? No Way
  8. Rams 31-21 Bengal Passing= 285 yds Bengals rushing= 125 yds Bengal TOs =1 Sacks on Bengals= 3
  9. Washington is still potentially a good story of success. They have great funding, some history and a big recruiting area. I don't think they are a sleeping giant but they are still a program to be feared in the future. I don't like them but let's be real, they are our main rivals and they despise Oregon. So....don't be over confidant........but it will be fun to run them out of Autzen this fall.
  10. sounds like an NIL bidding war. Does Oregon's "support group" have the dinero?
  11. Can't help but think about Rich Brooks taking Tony Cherry by the face mast and dragging him off the field, yelling at him all the way to the sidelines, after Cherry taunted the Stanford DB while going for an 80 yd TD. I hate the hot dogging and I hope Mr. Lanning puts a lid on it.
  12. He leaves all those DBs in the dust.........er ......grass
  13. We need Rick Barry to show these guys how to shoot free throws.........the underhanded way.
  14. JH, class act and a hell-of-a QB. Their D was again horrible. Can't put a team on your back and have no D support. Like the way Staley goes for it. One of the best games of the year. Achieving the tying TD with no time was unbelievable. Something needs to be done about the pass interference calls the home team seems to invariably get (esp for uncatchable throws)
  15. Bama wins 35-21 Ga passes for 178 Bama passes for 275 No turnovers caused by Ga 2 sacks for Ga
  16. Let's see, 10-2 record playing for a Rose Bowl berth. A team comprised of primarily freshmen, RS freshmen and sophomores. How the sky must be falling. Remember back some of you when we would go 1-8 but have a "successful" season when we beat the Beavers. As long as MC and staff can recruit at such a high level and put a goodly # of players into the "league".......then we have a chance to be not just good but very good. Did we get spoiled with the glory years of the Chipster......from an offensive point certainly. But we're building a consensus power in this conference. I guess some people wouldn't be satisfied if they got hung with a new rope.
  17. I thought NIL was going to be the death knell of college football...........now it's salaries that will also distinguish the few of the haves from the vast majority of the have nots. Now that both reasons are currently in place I fear that we're destined to have a Conference or two of the super rich. One can surely feel badly for the ND players as as for USuc, I didn't really need another reason intensely dislike them (now reason #345). Times, they are a changing.
  18. Thanks Charles. It's really interesting to see the breakdown of an individual play and all the component pieces that go into a successful attempt. We wouldn't see that degree of complexity by just watching the play unfold.
  19. I felt all along that Herbert was being protected by his coaches by limiting what he could do.....primarily because they had no one behind him to really take over the QB helm. He rarely ran until the last two games of his Oregon career. Was that a wise decision on the part of the staff??? Well, he never got seriously injured more than once and he's still physically OK to do the things we enjoy watching him do in the NFL. It certainly is heartwarming to see him doing so well for the Chargers......and now having an improved O line in front of him. It's the only team I care to watch on Sunday (or hopefully Monday evening).
