Oregon Heavy Favorites to Land 4-Star CB Caleb Presley

You're right, the statistics were from an article back in 2015, when all went south for our program, and really the Pac-12. The Pac-12 can be relevant again, but viewership has gone away from Pac-12 football. I certainly wasn't trying to lowball the viewership of the Georgia program. Your program is compelling tv, and the game this fall should be a great one! I have nothing but respect for UGA, great mascot!

If the Pac-12 puts a competitive product on the field and the basketball courts then all our problems will be solved. Looking elsewhere won't solve our problems, probably just a distraction. I do agree geography is a problem as distance is an issue. To strengthen my case I will cite, 4 out of the 10 top viewed games on tv involved Pac-12 teams. Oregon was involved in the 11th and 13th most watched games. I look forward to Oregon being part of a top 5 viewed game. When that happens we will know the program is back where it should be and the Pac-12 can negotiate a tv deal enviable to all. Side note, WSU was in the 8th most watched game, the dawgs have never been in a compelling game. It is not just Duck fans who would rather watch paint dry than a dawg game.

State's Top Prospect Riley Williams Drops Ducks
Haywarduck replied to idontrollonshobbas's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
He might want to consider the TE position caught a total of 300 yds under MariØ. This is the total of all the TE's, not just our leading TE, who had a bit over 100 yds. He should and probably will watch the difference in production under Lanning, and compare that to what the actual numbers are for our ex-coach. This is another way MariØ is an amazing recruiter. He can bring in kids who end up doing little, but somehow, I suppose, still think they will be different. Compare the future hurricane offense to tosu, and you have one receiver going over 1600 yds, and their top TE getting over 300 yds. I think he will compare how he will be used, not just the words before he commits. I will say there is a lot of talent to choose from, just hate to see a talented instate kid make a mistake, like going to the university of no o. -
Four Keys to Oregon Football Beating Georgia

We keep all crazies off, unfortunately we all have them. Georgia seems to have a plethora of great fans. We look forward to the game! -
Oregon Locking Horns with Alabama Over 5-Star Prospects
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
What will be interesting is the vibe we have now and the vibe we have after a few games. I tend to think it will be similar, but the Ducks are flying high before anything has happened on the field. If we beat Georgia, the program will have quite the tailwind. If we lose a couple there will be a bit of a headwind. This is why I want to see exciting football, again, from the Oregon program. If the Ducks are exciting again the elite athletes will be lining up to be the next great Duck. -

Four Keys to Oregon Football Beating Georgia
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is a classic catch from an AB throw. The defense is so certain we aren't going to throw downfield our receiver is wide open, and the throw looks more like a catch by a punt returner getting under the punt. Looking forward to our receivers catching passes in stride while going downfield, once again! That is definitely something we will need to see to win against Georgia. I doubt Georgia is going to play off our wideouts, especially with the talent they have. The first game will be a huge test of our passing game, and the key players. If we can pass the ball against Georgia then it will be an amazing indicator going forward. Basically I won't be shocked if Georgia can shut down parts of our offense. I will be extremely pleased if Oregon can move the ball well in any aspect. Georgia will be a huge, huge, massive test of our coaches and players on offense. -
Four Keys to Oregon Football Beating Georgia
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Agree with the last statement, this team needs to have fun, look like fun, and when the whistle blows the last time everyone should be able to say that was fun. Even if the scoreboard doesn't show we won, if it was a fun game to watch, we didn't lose. That past couple years we won some games, but lost, our mojo, who we were, and need to be. If we are a fun program to watch, again, then all is good in my book. The big indicator is if Seven is exciting, but doesn't score seven, then all is good. I actually don't care if we win as much as we don't keep losing who we were. If the Ducks come out and introduce the Dan Lanning era, and it is compelling football, we may not have beat Georgia, but we are on the way to winning in the long run.- 36 replies

More Huskies Leaving the Team--Bleeding Talent

I tend to think we underestimate the salesman that he is. It is my understanding PK had a contract for him at the end of the season, and he is no rube. The idea the Miami qb is going to be upset at the end of the season is questionable. MariØ could sell 'gator' gear to a Seminole, and make then think they like it. The Miami faithful are hungry to believe he can bring back the good old days, so that song will keep playing. I think we have some shrewd fans who don't appreciate a bait and switch, but many as we see throughout the world, are more than willing to swallow stuff hook line and sinker. MariØ has a perfect alibi, the promised facilities still aren't built. Look for that to be the first excuse, but it will be laced with plenty of talk we have already heard. I do agree his act will begin to sour after a few years, but I suspect he will last quite a while. The AD and the players picked him for us, the alumni picked him for the canes. Alumni, as we know, are seldom wrong!

This year it is the ULM Warhawks who were 4-8 last year, but undefeated this year. https://www.postandcourier.com/sports/what-no-1-alabama-and-the-citadel-get-from-a-huge-college-football-mismatch/article_cefaa964-e8ff-11e8-a072-5b5640ffa8a3.html

Ok Stormrider, I will look back through the rearview mirror one more time. I think, much like the fanbase you speak for, we are grateful for the recruiting and team MariØ built. The problem was the disconnect between what he said and what he did, not acceptable in these parts. In my experience, in Oregon you can get things done through a handshake. Somebody says they are going to do something, you shake on the deal, and it is done. If the agreed upon deal is not done, the individual won't be successful and he should move on, end of story. Many on Fishduck feel MariØ said he was going to respect, and build on what Oregon had been and he didn't. This disconnect doesn't sit well with me, or many Oregon Duck fans. While we are grateful, we see his weaknesses and don't appreciate his sleight of words. I can appreciate it may seem petty, but most just don't think he will be successful after what we have experienced, and are glad he moved on. While I see mild success with the qb he inherits, much like he had here, I don't see anything too exciting. Much like the stadium that was promised, much of what MariØ comes with is just hot air. If history holds, his act will start to get old after about 3-4 years, and then you too will wonder where all the promises went. I also find it interesting you say, 'the last of them' and reference Larry Coker. You fail to reference how Miami treated the last half dozen coaches since, and especially how Manny Diaz was treated. I suppose that doesn't fit the narrative you try and create about the hurricane fanbase?

Oregon Fan Base is 5th Most Dysfunctional in the Nation?
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If the function of a fanbase helping win a national title, the only school on the list which is totally dysfunctional are the dawgs up north. The rest of the list has won a men's national title in something. A fanbase must base their fan function of something, or nothing like up north. That is dysfunctional, maybe a picture of the dawg fanbase is in the dictionary for dysfunctional. -
Good stuff, but there is a reason the windshield is bigger than the rear view mirror. The future looks bright, and what behind us, is best left there!

I don't think it takes that kind of perspective to make FishDuck articles look good, they are just good journalism. I would say some of the comments are better than that article.
-
Lazy, lazy stuff where they take a quote and an incomplete search to pump out an article. I think the definition is automated journalism, written by an algorithm. It makes you appreciate the many authors, and yourself who grace Fishduck with their wit and intellect. Our artificial intelligence future has a long way to go, ok maybe a couple years. There will always be a place for wit, savvy and understanding, or will there?

WHERE is the Most Inexpensive Place to Retire?
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Equador, is cheap, and has a lot of compelling qualities. Quito is suppose to be one of the favorites for the expats. I have been to Costa Rica, and checked out another highly thought of area. If I didn't have a decent retirement I would consider the expat route, not for everyone. Here is one high end place in Costa Rica, if you want to live big on a smaller budget. Escazú, Costa Rica: Retirement Info, Cost of Living Table & Things To Do INTERNATIONALLIVING.COM The Escazú area has become an expat haven, so you’ll likely have English-speaking friends to go exploring with. There are many things to do.. -

I saw a guy wearing an Oregon uniform and I got pissed off. Never would have thought I would have a reaction like that to a uniform, but bam, I was pissed. Anyone wearing this uniform, I have to question his intent. My first thought it was a husky! That uniform only brings back bad memories. Would anyone else have the same reaction, maybe I am just a little too sensitive?

Is Bo Nix Winning the Heisman a Total Pipe Dream?
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It might also be can he recover from his bonehead plays? The Heisman is also all about the drama, and there is nothing more entertaining than nail biter wins. We all want to move beyond the conservative grind it out wins, well there is nothing more exciting than the thrilling late game heroics. The question may be can Nix win the tight games? If he throws a few picks, but is able to come back and win that may be enough to get him in the discussion for the big lump of metal. We may see havoc in defense, and the occasional self inflicted havoc on offense. If the offense can explode out of any issues which arise then the Heisman talk may come to Autzen, once again. If will take a top ten, top five ranked team, now that is also exciting. -

'High on Cristobal? This Hype is LAUGHABLE...'
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The Fan Portal, now that made my morning, thanks. Mario, supposedly inherits another elite qb. I think Mario will do alright, but at the elite level, you need more than your strength coach on the sideline next to you when playing big games. You need steely nerves, and shrewd play calling, Mari'no'O has neither of these. He is like the kid who can throw big heat who moves up the ranks of elite baseball. Unless he develops a change-up and a decent curve, he will never last. It takes more than recruiting and soundbites to win, but he looks impressive right now. What Charles said is right, after about 4 years his footprint will be all over the canes, and it will be all over as it was at FIU and would have been soon at Oregon.
