'where USC is at, everything around it.' Really? USC wide receiver Jordan Addison breaks down decision to transfer to Trojans 247SPORTS.COM ...

I think this is exactly what makes the betting sites nervous. If Lanning gets a dynamic offense clicking it could be a very interesting outcome. If Nix is off, or the team needs time to put it all together then it could get ugly. The number of outcomes would seem to be endless. I just hope the fanbase is understands the betting sites don't put things out there to lose money. I say that not for betting, but so we can revel in an upset or look forward to growth without an expectation of a miracle.

How Oregon Football Will EXPLODE Offensively in 2022
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great article and what I expect to see is a team which takes advantage of weaknesses in the opposing defenses. Instead of an offense limited by our qb, and coach we will see an offense exposing opposing teams mismatches. The previous seasons we were limited by our coach and his penchant for preventing our offense. We also had a limited offensive weapon behind center. Whether it was Shough's panic runs, passes, or AB's limited abilities we couldn't take advantage of what a defense gave us. This will all change this season with a new chef and like any fine restaurant, a great staff. Dillingham sees the whole field and Lanning will let, expect him take advantage of those opportunities. This will be the biggest change in our offense. No longer will there be the occasional unexpected play where our coach is a nervous wreck. What we will see is the occasional unexpected play where our coaches are excited, and dreaming up the next new item to dish out to the crowd. We will also see our weapons on the field knowing they will get the ball if they play hard, and smart. No longer will they be limited to the sideline pass or run up a specific gap. These players will be sent to where the defense has weaknesses. This will be the massive shift in what we will see on the field. The coaching and the player use will be the biggest shift. The coaches will be, like a chef, cooking up what is freshly given them farm to table. Whatever the farm, opposing coach give them we will see served up. No longer will we see the same menu over and over, even when the ingredients have become stale. The players will also become the ingredients and if there becomes an unstoppable weapon it will stay on the menu. If there are limits to what can be created with a player then expect to see him when the course, of action, calls for him. That is the menu I want to see. Who knows what will be on the menu, you just know the chef can create something exciting out of the ingredients he has on the sideline! -
With a great quote, something to ponder. Memorial Day isn't just about honoring veterans, its honoring those who lost their lives. Veterans had the fortune of coming home. For us, that's a reminder of when we come home we still have a responsibility to serve. It's a continuation of service that honors our country and those who fell defending it.

Oohh! Kickoff Times Set and Game with OSU Moved?
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The players are making money, choosing the uniforms, maybe they should be asked to come up with the new name. I certainly think as most of our players are African Americans, and many with relatives who were slaves we should respect what they think of the name, Civil War, as the name of the game they are asked to play in. It would be interesting to learn what they think of the name. It could be called the Hazelnut Bowl, and I wouldn't care, as long as we beat the Beavs. It could also be called the Nike Bowl one year, and then the Reser Bowl with the proceeds going to a charity if that make it more palatable. Sell the name, I don't care, but make a decision! -
NOT Green and Yellow, but COOL to You?
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I am actually surprised we haven't seen a tie dye uniform, it is Eugene after all. A tie dye uniform would rock college football, wouldn't it? Maybe a tie dye accent, much like the feathers, or armour element. The student athletes get to design the uniforms, what will be next, maybe tie dye? -
Love the defense of Dan and his staff, from the contrarian view I created. I just hope that same support is there if he does have a tough time first time out and stalls it a few times. I remember Chip first time, Kellen Clemens first time, and I also remember my first time driving a stick shift. I had watched avidly for years, but I still killed it too many times before mastering it. I love to give the contrarian view when we all seem to line up facing the same way. It is important so see the other direction, because that just might be the perspective we have after the game. Go Ducks and I love Dan Lanning, proud to say it!

Men's Basketball Signs Jermaine Couisnard
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If I was Altman I wouldn't put anyone on the court who couldn't shoot over 70% from the free throw line. Unless they are a defensive role player, nobody leaves the bench unless they can shoot a 'free' throw. I guess we are all lucky it isn't my decision. -
I would argue the opposite. Oregon has no identity under Lanning. All we have is a growing expectation in which Dan Lanning is doing everything right. The game against Georgia will define Oregon, until enough data is available to change the way we look against Georgia. Georgia already has a definition of who they are as a program under Smart. They have struggled, at times, and always come back and even won a national title. If they struggle and even lose they will be fine. There may be some panic, but they have a proven head coach who can lead a team. If Oregon gets beat badly or struggles mightily the pressure will grow, and unanswered questions will arise. This is why the first impression is so important. People who understand relationships understand the first impression is critical. I can only imagine what will be said if we lose to Georgia, and then BYU. All we have now is projections on how a game will go, a point spread, and expectations, some wildly optimistic, what if that thinking is blown away? This will be Dan Lanning first impression on the nation and the Duck Nation. The pressure will be huge! Imagine you have only dreamt of doing something and never actually done it. The marriage between Oregon and Dan Lanning will truly begin when we play Georgia. Not necessarily where a first time coach wants to be defined in his first act as a coach. You have been training all your life, and your first race is the Olympic trials. You have been going to school all your life and then your first job is as CEO doing a reorganization. All eyes are on you and there is no pressure, come on!

If You Could Ask Dan Lanning One Question...
Haywarduck replied to Annie's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If you can pick something which will define the Oregon Football Program under Dan Lanning what will that be? Out of curiosity, what do you, or have you done which makes you feel most passionate and alive? -
Agree completely, a legendary Duck! Oregon legend named to college football ‘all-time all-transfer’ team WWW.YAHOO.COM When you think of Duck football transfers, you think of LeGarrette Blount or Jeremiah Masoli. It was this Oregon legend to make the 'all-transfer' team though.

You stated you are grateful, and I agree. Seems like there are stages we all go through in recovery from what we went through with the No O coach we had. Anytime you go through such an emotional experience there are a set of emotional markers you encounter as you accept the future. The first one was confusion, then we had anger, followed by trying to make sense of it all. The last stages we are just beginning to feel. The healthy sense of gratefulness is definitely one most if not all of us are experiencing. The final stage is the one I am anticipating with great impatience. The excitement of seeing our vision, and really our programs defining element come back. An exciting, dynamic offense will be one of the greatest moments of this fall. We are all grateful, we are all now looking forward to the thrill, once again, of the O in Oregon coming back! That is emotional state I look forward to again being in Saturday after Saturday for the foreseeable future!

I just don't see a first career start against Georgia in Atlanta being a smart choice for the staff. Even if one of the young guns is starting to kill it in practice it wouldn't be prudent to make his first start in that environment. Nix will start, but if we see development he may not stay the starter.

One thing we can count on just about every year, the dawgs will disappoint. That is just how they roll! Preseason darling, but once the season begins, the wheels fall off. Lost to Montana to start the year, this year they play Kent State watch out!

Quote From Our New Commit--Exciting
Haywarduck replied to FamilyofDucks's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Somehow Helfrich screwed this one up. Alabama was able to court him through the grade issue, but Helfrich didn't have the finesse with recruits. We ended up with no qb's that recruiting cycle. That was something which was consistent, and I will agree to disagree on that one. The next year he pursued Shough instead of Purdy, another mistake. Recruiting was another weakness of Helfrich. He couldn't recruit or manage the athletes well enough. Great coach, but sadly didn't have enough of the components needed to sustain a program. -
There was an article predicting Sewell winning the Butkus Award at the end of the season posted by 30Duck. What do the pundits know that we on FishDuck don't know better. Dazednconfused, who seldom is, then posted DJ would be drafted before Sewell. I propose those on FishDuck and their wisdom come up with some season ending predictions. Who is going to win or threaten to win the Heisman? Will somebody break the 1,000 yd. receiving number? My prediction is Donte Thorton is going to blow away multiple receiving records. He will break Mitchells single season record of 1184, and go over 1200 yds. Our single season all-time record is pathetic by the way, not even in the top 100 in the NCAA, probably not even the top 200. The stats don't go down that low that I found. I also say he will break the single season touchdown record of 12, by scoring 13 or more. Again or record is weak, as the NCAA record is 27 and 12 doesn't even break the top 100, not even close. It is time to break out the passing game and set some records! The O in Oregon is coming back!

Love it, predictions for season ending awards!

Flowe won the High School Butkus award. Who knows, if Flowe stays healthy they could go 1, 2 for the Butkus and on the draft board for LB's. I can dream can't I! Bosworth, what a joke! Mr. supplement, illegal supplement that is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnDlFKTNkeE

Leadership from recruits early, great sign! Lanning and his team of coaches are doing great work, but recruits having their backs is the special sauce! -
Makes you cry seeing Herbert with those numbers. It is, time again, to have the Oregon QB sling it!

What If Vernon Adams Didn’t Break His Finger in 2015?
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It all speaks to having depth. This seems to be the last ingredient we have been lacking, when we had coaching. We just might have it all now! -
It was hard to hate SC back in the day, as their greatest coaches were Ducks! As far as wanting to beat a team, that has to be Utah this season. As far as hating to lose too, that would be the dawgs, then the beavs. I will also say I am starting to dislike the games against the cardinal. We are 2-4 most recently and have an overall losing record. I don't hate the school, but don't like losing to the smart guys either.
