Kenny Dillingham Has Talked with ASU
While this is quite true, I think of the years that so many long-ago Duck assistants stayed, perhaps because they weren't getting big offers to leave, but I think liking being position coaches, liking living in Eugene was part of it too.

Oregon Ducks Football: New Rivalry Game Name
Since the Willamette Valley is known for wineries, how about The Wine Country War? 😉

Why Is This Allowed?!
Alabama used to play The Citadel near the end of the season every year. So not much has changed.

Oregon Football: Let’s Pump the Brakes on Trick Plays
Yes, trick plays worked against weaker teams such as CO and CAL. Against better teams, not so much--especially when backed up against your own end zone.

Canzano: Will Bo Go vs. Utah? Somebody Knows
It doesn't bother me when coaches play the injury game. I don't bet on the games, and I attend the games regardless of who is predicted to start. Only night starting times keep me away and in front of my TV. 🙂

Can the Oregon Ducks Beat Utah Without Nix?
If Bo can't play tomorrow, then maybe (insert eerie music) Butterfield will step up and win the day, having been the hidden secret weapon all along. 😉

Two Cents Worth .... Nix Injury
This is from a couple of days ago. Not sure if there have been or will be any updates before the game. Dan Lanning offers cryptic injury update for QB Bo Nix, multiple starting offensive linemen DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Lanning was asked about the health of QB Bo Nix. He gave a guarded answer, but hinted at some positive news that was...

Tough Question: Are These the Right Defensive Coaches?
Water that bamboo!

I Can Admit When I am Wrong....
Can Helfrich be hired (or be a volunteer) to scout QBs for the Ducks? He did bring in Marcus and Justin, after all, and I think they were both 3-stars who turned out well for the Ducks. 🙂

People ARE Still Interested in Going to Duck Games
Since I don't attend night games, I put my Utah tickets up for sale at Ticketmaster this morning and they sold in less than an hour. Of course, I don't if they went to Duck fans or Utah fans, but they sold quickly! 🙂 I hope there will be another sell-out at Autzen!

The Head Coach is Brilliant...When?
Trick plays and gambles that work against inferior teams--Wow! Trick plays and gambles that don't work against equal or superior teams--Ew!

Do We Judge Dan Lanning for This?
When Lanning first got here he said something along the lines of the bamboo plant, and how over time you'll water that plant every single day, and at times you don't see the growth. It hasn't come out of the ground. But at some point that plant breaks ground and it grows exponentially. And I think 5 years was mentioned as the time it would break the ground and grow. Take away the GA game, and the Ducks started off exceeding that kind of expectation. I'm certainly hoping we'll still see good Duck football and more victories this year, but, really, I think the hope/expectation that the Ducks would make the playoffs Lanning's first year was always a bit over-optimistic.

After Some Time to Cool Down…
Despite the loss, I still think that was an exciting game to watch. The lead changed hands several times and I don't think anyone left the stadium early. Oh, there was the usual must-get-to-my-car-before-everyone else crew, but they all stopped on the stairs and the landing to watch the last several plays (and blocking the view of and irritating most of the people who sat across the aisle from me). It really wasn't until the very end that fans left the stadium, and how often does that happen?

Painful
Well, I think before the season started the thought of 9 or so wins sounded good. Hope we can still do better than that.

Lanning Deserves Praise for Oregon’s Offensive Renaissance
Not only is the Duck offense exciting and explosive, but when it so chooses can also take 7, 8+ minutes off the clock on a long drive. Win, win.

Autzen Stadium Sellouts: A Comparison
I never go to the restroom at half-time. My seat is not too far from a tunnel, so I can dash down and back during one of the longer commercial breaks, and thanks to that guy on the field with the electronic sign, I know how long the break will be.

Miami: *Sigh*
Lanning might not have wanted Miami....

A Great Win ... But What's Going on With Ty Thompson?
He looks overwhelmed to me, as if he still hasn't made the adjustment emotionally from playing in high school to playing in college. I may be reading that wrong, of course. Hope that sooner rather than later everything just clicks for him so that he would be comfortable managing playing time.

Oregon’s Best Offense Ever; Plus Kickoff Idiocy and Burying Georgia
Since the rule changed to getting the ball on the 25 yard line instead of the 20, it seems to make sense in most cases to take the fair catch. I remember in the past that while there were certainly some big run backs, often the Ducks would get to the 22, 23, or 24 yard lines, which while better than starting at the 20, now one can start on the 25 without the risky run back.

Dan Lanning is All Class
Sportsmanship, but also playing it safe. I think it's probably quite rare to fumble the ball when taking a knee.

UCLA Weekend: Recruits Who Are Visiting
The families can sit inside the Moshofsky and watch (and maybe the recruits, if they want to, I'm not sure), but usually the recruits are seated together near the field next to the student section.
