As Charles Barkley Would Say, "The Pac-12 Network is Turrible!"
Steven A replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Sounds like the Pac 12 Network is just the same as ESPN ...... in 1979. A fun read on Wikipedia for those who weren't around at the inception/conception. -
Or, does enrolling without playing a down in a game allow another free transfer? And then will accepting NIL $ count as playing in games if your NIL $ is tied to your school? So many questions, so few brain cells to come up with answers.

Each Oregon Football Player Earned at Least 15K Last Year
Steven A replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
So now, take 15K per 85 scholarship FB players, and the $723 avg will shrink substantially for the "rest" of the FKA (formerly known as) student athletes. Plus, I think Sedona Prince is well into 6 figures. -
The following is a Q and then answer to a Duck Territory Quack Chat: Q: With subpar NIL can Oregon compete with the likes of the SEC, SC? A: Yes. They don't have subpar NIL. Division Street isn't spending money like monopoly money. They are doing it stratgeically. Do we forget that KT got a United Airlines deal last year? Or that all of the football players made over 15K this year for shoes that were sold, and in that process all of Oregon's other athletes in other sports got cash. We know that the women's program has been getting deals with the Pape Group as well. So, I'm sure without guarantees, FB recruits are going to be aware of the 15K and the POSSIBILITY of more.

Where Does Kelly Graves Go From Here?
Steven A replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
And as I recall, Graves was quite giddy about her prior to the last two seasons. -
Part II A more in depth article from Matt Prehm at 24/7. Looks as if Dana knows this year "just didn't work". Oregon men's basketball faces an offseason of change they look to retool and reload for next year 247SPORTS.COM There will be change within the Oregon men's basketball program this offseason. The only question is how much change will we see from one of the nation's most consistent

Study Recruiting? Here are Oregon Offers in the Last Week
Steven A replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks

It will be interesting to watch these mega NIL deals over the next few cycles. Not only the locker room situation of haves and have-nots, but boosters will want/demand a ROI (return on investment). After a couple of mega busts, coaches might not be able to go back to the well. A & M’s approach of $50K per O-lineman seems a better situation, spreading the wealth and spreading the risk. Oh, and it could devolve more and more into the pro situation with the players making more than the coaches. Will players take “lip” form someone making less, or give lip to them. We have already seen a player holding out for spring practice for more NIL, we are now only waiting for the “prize” recruit to get his coach fired or he’ll leave. Don’t laugh, you heard it here first.

So, tweak the system with transfers? This is the first year in a while that they didn't gel. Demand more early, no laurels allowed, everyone starts as a 1*?

I never like to blame refs, but there was a couple of calls vs Ducks very late that were questionable. But that last sequence was a real head scratcher, where was a double screen to free a 3?
-
Right on. He has supplied the facilities and the salaries for the coaches. We can't be at the top of the big three sports every year. Very true, and thank goodness we have him and Penny, plus many others.

Under the non-leadership of the former official butt sniffer (who remains a non-official butt sniffer), mark emmert, what else would you expect?

Key Facts, Round Two. This Time We’re Dissing Texas A&M
Steven A replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'd aim much lower. -
Can Oregon Survive the NIL .... HELL YES. By abandoning the uw prowess approach and relying upon minds MUCH greater than mine (ok, I realize that is a HUGE club), I am quite confident that our athletic department, "partners" and Uncle, will allow us to thrive in the NIL space.

WOW Axel, way to show your butt-sniffing-canine-love while writing about another team. HOF stuff. I just wish you had somehow woven in the similarity that "traditions like this help ensure that two-thirds of the student body remain less intelligent than their mascot" to the other 12th man university. -

Canzano: Pac-12 Commissioner Pounds Message Home
Steven A replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
At least you didn't end up getting fired for it like a certain "slick" uw FB coach. Of course, he sued and won. -
OK....NOW the Last Name of the Recruit Rings a Bell

Another plus, a Mater Dei recruit. Keep that pipeline open. -

A COLLEGE Player HOLDS OUT for Lack of NIL Deal?
Steven A replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Next up, tutors wanting a piece of the NIL from the players they are keeping eligible. Can't wait.
