Is It Time for the NCAA to File Chapter 11 Bankruptcy?
The article reads: A national title-winning college basketball team has filed a lawsuit against the NCAA. N.C. State's 1983 national title-winning men's college basketball team has filed a lawsuit against the NCAA, wanting past earnings when NIL wasn't legal. Members of the 1983 team, led by legendary head coach Jim Valvano, are claiming that the NCAA "systematically and intentionally misappropriated the Cardiac Pack's publicity rights ... without the players' consent and while paying them nothing." The lawsuit was filed by Stacy Miller of the Miller Law Group. There are thousands - millions, maybe - of former college athletes who would have benefited tremendously from Name, Image and Likeness being in place when they were in school. N.C. State's 1983 team is obviously part of that group. The Wolfpack's national title-winning team was one of the most popular in the country at the time. However, it seems like a stretch to file a lawsuit against the NCAA, given everyone was aware and accepting of the situation at the time. It'll be fascinating to see how this all plays out." When will the madness stop? If I was still practicing law, I would hope never. But since I am a fan, NOW!

Ducks Second Best Odds at Going Undefeated Per ESPN
Here is the text: Which college football teams have the best shot at making it through the 2024 season unbeaten? Last fall, five programs - Florida State, Michigan, Liberty, Georgia and Washington - ended regular season play undefeated. We'd love to see a similar scenario unfold once again in 2024 - but according to ESPN's updated Football Power Index, just three teams have better than a ten percent chance of running the table this coming season. Those three programs? Notre Dame (15.8 percent), Oregon (15.7 percent) and Georgia (10.8 percent). Notre Dame is set to open the regular season with a tough road test at Texas A&M - but if the Irish can survive in College Station, their remaining schedule brings an undefeated campaign squarely into the realm of possibility. Late-season matchups against Florida State and USC will be the final major tests for Marcus Freeman's squad. Oregon, meanwhile, enters the 2024 season as members of a new conference. The new Big Ten program lost just two games in 2023 - both to eventual national runner-up Washington - and is expected to compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff once again this fall. What about the Georgia Bulldogs? Led by the only returning starting quarterback (Carson Beck) of the aforementioned programs, Kirby Smart's squad is clawing to get back into the CFP after narrowly missing the four-team field last fall. The SEC may be the toughest conference to escape from without a loss - but ESPN's computer model likes the Bulldogs' chances heading into 2024.

Are We Seeing What Cristobal DREAMED Of?
I agree, he will make the play-offs off and on eventually. I just realized that these coaches that are at their dream jobs, they have no leverage for future contracts unless they “produce” as defined by the donors. Of course, with a $50 Mil contract, who cares about future leverage?

Recruiting: Are You Less "Into It" Than Before?
Agree 100%. I keep up with it, but that doesn't mean I listen to every pod cast or read every article I find. I pick and choose since until signing day, the fat lady hasn't sung and may have to shut up on portal day.

10 Cent Beer Night: What Could POSSIBLY Go Wrong?
I do remember some 10¢ “bottoms-up” beer nights which meant the mugs were upside down and they filled the bottom with beer. I was walking (using the terms loosely) from Duffy’s (the first establishment to crack the dry zone, corner of 13th and Alder) when all of a sudden, the blue and whatever lights of a police cruiser pulled up next to me. I was asked if I had a driver’s license. My response was "I wasn't driving was I"? I was relieved to confirm I wasn’t, they just wanted to check my ID.

Are We Seeing What Cristobal DREAMED Of?
But with a 12-team playoff, if he, or any other coach of a high-profile program, whiffs a few years in a row . . . bye bye. I also think if any coach of a high-profile program periodically makes the playoff but doesn't advance past the second round, schools will keep them beyond their expiration date since the made the play-offs.

Was THIS the Game that Began the Modern Era to You as Well?
Charles, I had to look twice to see that it didn't say 1894! I remember it quite well. It was my first time back at Autzen since graduating in '72. The senior partner (in his 70's) at the firm I worked at was a big husky fan. We drove up and bet the weekend on it (My ego wrote a check that couldn’t be cashed). Walking out of the stadium I told him if he had been wearing Duck gear, even he could get laid tonight. He was a dead ringer for Tommy Lasorda, so we played that into some free drinks at a bowling alley bar in Grants Pass on the way home. We did have a few doubters. However, it turned out Dan Haggerty was filming something there. On his way out, he stopped at our table as asked me if I was so-in-so. I said no, but you know Tommy Lasorda, don’t you? Well evidently, he had enough to drink to acknowledge he knew Tommy and they proceeded to talk old times. After that, the rest of the drinks were again free. He even signed a few autographs (so be careful on Ebay if you are a Lasorda fan).
