Blast From the Past - Dan Fouts
I remember the spring game in '70 when this unheard of about to be a soph, as frosh weren't eligible then, threw a 60+ ydish rope to Leland Glass and everyone (all the dozens of us) at the game wondered who that kid was. A year later a high school friend was being recruited and Dan was his student guide. I was asked to come along since I had known the recruit forever. Dan took us to his dorm room and I'm sure there were some textbooks among all the QB books he had, YA Tittle, Eddie Lebaron, Johhny U. West Coast bias since his dad did the 49ers broadcasts at the time. Later that weekend the recruit and I were on our way to meet Dan and the recruiting coach, George Siefert, for dinner. We were jaywalking and a car honked at us, so I gave a fine feathered wave at the car. Opps, George and Dan on the way to dinner. At dinner I told the story of how I got a BBall scholarship for fall term '69. It seems there was a frosh named Stephen A. Smith, and thanks to a typo I got tuition that term. To add insult to injury, poor Stephen from Rio American High School in Sacto lost his girlfriend. Barbie Benton went on to bigger and better things, just ask Hef (not our later coach!!). George said he was ok with that since it was a BBall scholly, otherwise dinner would have been on me.

Realignment Destroys Conference Loyalty
Darren, like Charles I have moved on. Although I will root for Utah/Whittingham & ASU/Dillingham. After that, the BIGs so as to not lose ground to the only other power conference, the SEC.

U$C Loses Their No. 1 Recruit, More to Follow?
The USC Trojans entered late June with one of the best 2025 recruiting classes on college football. It’s suddenly taking a massive hit with five-star edge rusher Isaiah Gibson de-committing from the program on Tuesday afternoon. Gibson, rated by 247 Sports as the No. 1 edge rusher in the country, committed to USC on March 24. The decision came just a few days after he took an unofficial visit with the Georgia Bulldogs. Nearly three months later, Gibson has re-opened his recruiting process following an official visit to Auburn. Hayes Fawcett of On3.com first reported the news, with the 6-foot-5 edge rusher officially de-committing from the Trojans and opening up one of the most intense recruiting battles in the country. USC isn’t out of the mix for the prized edge rusher out of Warner Robins High School. Following his commitment, On3.com has the Georgia Bulldogs as a slight favorite (49.7 percent) followed by the Trojans in second at 43.2 percent. None of the other teams listed in the top five South Carolina, Auburn, and Oklahoma – are viewed as having higher than a 1.5 percent chance of landing him. GIbson’s decision comes at a time when there are already whispers that fellow five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry might decommit from USC. A Georgia native, On3.com’s recruiting prediction machine lists the Bulldogs as the favorites to land him at 36.9 percent with USC in second at 26 percent.

Oregon Ducks Football: Undefeated Season Incoming?
Candidate yes, but I don't necessarily wants to and he sure as heck has enough $$$ from being fired twice in the NFL and what his current gig pays. I also think D's have caught up with his O and he doesn't have any more rabbits in his hat/visor.

Oregon Ducks Football: Undefeated Season Incoming?
Yeah, Chip was out doing too much recruiting, glad handing boosters, making public appearances and not paying attention to his QBs or the O.

Stunning Recruiting Info Has Me Shaking My Head Again...
I think it has. 3 x 3 point losses due to a generational QB, NFL receivers, great OLine and great secondary vs our great QB, 1 NFL receiver, a great Oline, decent secondary, injured QB for 1 loss and questionable decisions for another and injuries (part of the game) for the 3rd. Ewe dubs cupboard is quite bare, our's NOT AT ALL. I see another great streak coming. Looking forward to my 90th birthday when we pull ahead in the series 64 - 63 after 16 straight.

QUAAACK! Offensive Lineman Demetri Manning Commits to Oregon!
Per CBS Sneaky-Good Commit: IOL Demetri Manning to Oregon If anyone needs any further proof that Dan Lanning is building an SEC-like program out West, look no further than Manning's commitment. Kirby Smart has done his best to hoard mass at Georgia, and his protege Lanning is starting to do the same at Oregon. Three-star lineman Demetri Manning, who picked the Ducks over Washington and Miami on June 11, is one of the largest prospects that we have come across in the 2025 cycle as he tips the scales at just over 6-foot-6, 345 pounds. He's going to need to melt down and get the body right once he arrives on campus, but Oregon could potentially pair him up front with another monster of a human in Class of 2024 signee JacQawn McRoy (6-foot-6, 365 pounds) at some point down the line.
