Best part about this kid, he is a TEAM guy .... “We’ve known for a long time,” Dowdell’s stepfather Lawrence Hopkins said. Dowdell just wanted to wait till the end of his spring season before going public, keeping the steady flow of colleges coaches to come by the school to see his teammates while they were going through camp."

The article is complete BS. Why, you may ask. Because it did not address the fact that an expansion last year would have given ESPN a monopoly on the rights for a few years starting immediately. By delaying, there will be competitive bidding by Fox, CBS and whomever may decide to come to the table. As we know, competitive bidding means more $$$ for everyone. So, while the premise of the article is correct, it leaves out the most important piece of the pie. Of course, since the SEC and ESPN share the same sheets, Stankey ignored the peeping elephant in the room. So, short term, Pac 12 & Big 12 lose, long term we'll get back to the table.

This article throws a lot S at the wall with no real answers, what a surprise. Forget NIL -- these are the real issues college leaders need to solve WWW.ESPN.COM You may hear a lot of whining about NIL. But school presidents and college sports power brokers need to focus on the big issue -- the widening gap between the Big Ten and SEC and everybody else...

Not Sports--Just a Pic of My New Granddaughter
Steven A replied to FamilyofDucks's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As you are finding out, our hearts have unlimited capacity for family love. I'm done with that generation at 5. However, I remember the first thing I thought of when my first grandchild was born was that my new goal in life was to live long enough to watch my daughter get to experience the same feelings. Congrats. -
Title game change should probably be instituted by Pac 12 ASAP. Never thought about the recruiting class issue, but with the NIL exoduses, expanding class size to re-gain scholarship maximums seems essential. NCAA oversight committee: Ease conference title game requirements, waive recruiting class size restrictions - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM The two proposed pieces of legislation will be voted on by the Division I Council later in May

Way to rep the Ducks. Gano gets last laugh .... "When he said he was willing to give to that, I can be No. 9, and maybe in 10-15 years when he retires, and I'm still kicking, I can get No. 5 back" Giants rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux donates $50K to charity for Graham Gano's jersey number WWW.FOXNEWS.COM New York Giants rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux will be wearing No. 5 this season in New York, but it cost him a hefty sum to do so.

What do You Want More, a Win Over Georgia or Utah?
Steven A replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Utah all the way. A W over Georgia would be spoiled by an L to Utah. Deja vu tosu and Stanford games last year. -
Wichita State Shockers fire AD Darron Boatright amid criticism school can't compete in NIL market WWW.ESPN.COM Wichita State fired athletic director Darron Boatright on Wednesday amid growing criticism over the university's inability to compete... Shame on him for ... "They said it was Boatright's responsibility to ensure the school's donors were aware of the new rules and be prepared with incentives to retain current players and attract new ones."

Came from this article ... Cry about NIL as NCAA power brokers might, the confetti isn't going back in the cannon SPORTS.YAHOO.COM Nick Saban and Kirby Smart, among others, think student-athletes need more regulation when it comes to name, image and likeness. They're mad at the wrong people. Love the part wherein "Alabama coach Nick Saban and Georgia coach Kirby Smart are among those calling for more regulation — of players, to be clear. Far as we can tell, neither has ever called for regulation on coaching salaries or restriction of player movement, or groused about how "out of control" it is that head coaches can get boosters to pay off their mortgages or get bonuses for their players' grade-point averages and graduation rates"

Let's raid the SEC for Vandy and BIG(somenumber) for Rutgers and make them a must conference game, either one of 7 or 8.

More "good-or-good"

I think most people thought we had better talent, but it showed we weren't a better team. This year with better talent, better coaching and lack of "prevent offense", we should beat the Utes once, and hopefully turn the tables and do it twice like someone else did last year. I'm torn between wanting to beat the Utes in the CShip game, or $C and start the Riley Rivalry.
