  1. Looks like a bit of a broken play with JJIII confused about the route and the play call. Time and place. We want the petal to the metal when we are up 3 scores in the first half. Not when we are up at the end of the game and it's time to burn the clock. It's all about situational awareness. The situation dictates the tactics and strategy. This is where Mario and Co. seem to struggle. In order to compete at the highest level they have to clean up these mistakes. They have made them time and time again, including in at least a few games this year....see Stanford in particular.
  2. Okay, so I am superstitious to a fault I suppose. Considering this I am going to stick with calling the Ducks underdogs in every game from here on out. Colorado 17 Oregon 6, 1 sack, 1 turnover, 152 passing yards The Buff's stun Ducks nation tomorrow at Autzen. AB is unable to move the ball and we can only muster 2 field goals on offense.
  3. Let's face it Charles. The Oregon Ducks are a team that people love to hate. Shoot even the politics in Oregon people love to hate. They essentially love to hate Oregonians. So these broadcasters have decided to take it one step further and hate on the fans now too. Pretty bush league considering lots of fans in a lot of places boo their programs from time to time and almost always it's directed at the coaches and not individual players. They are just using another opportunity to spin their implicit biases and knock the Ducks and the whole West Coast in order to gain competitive advantage in the Playoff politics.
  4. The Beavers have only played maybe one game outside of the pac12 network this year, and I think it was late at night. Hence the low numbers. They have a solid team with a great coach. I hate to see these numbers for them.
  5. Very plausible theory I think. It's a lot easier to strategize against the known. However I have to think that at least the PAC12 schools have some fairly consistent schemes and approaches i.e. Stanford, Cal and AZ. I am definitely thinking that the base offense does not operate as well in general. All in all I personally think they just need to throw the ball more and operate in more space, which is basically what they implemented against both Ohio State and UCLA. Need to stick with it.
  6. Yeah Hayward, I am definitely starting to come around more and more to the idea that there needs to be a better happy medium found with the criticism. It's tough though........when we get frustrated and emotional it's hard not to vent. But we need to do a better job rolling with the punches I suppose. I hope he sticks it out, but if not then..........next coach up! I think rowing the boat would work for me.....but I said that last time before Minnesota hired Fleck and we hired Cristobal.
  7. Like others have stated, it's all about getting opportunities. You can't make plays if you aren't fed the rock. Does make you wonder a little though, about whether Williams has been impatient a few times and maybe rubbed someone (perhaps Cristobal or McClendon) the wrong way. Considering Dye called out the coaches at the goal line last week, it could be that some others have a bit too. That's interesting to me because it shows that there is a good chance they are seeing and feeling some of the same things the fans have. If it is the case then this could be a catalyst for change from Cristobal.
  8. " Joe Moorhead was the mastermind behind Oregon’s thrilling victory." Very true......very true. It's clear now that between the Ohio State and the UCLA games Moorhead exhibited mastery of scheme and Brown proved capable of implementing the plan. So the million dollar question is reinforced. Why have the Ducks coaches seemed out-schemed by the other five coaches they have faced? It has to do something with motivation. We have two data points that lend credence to both the coaches and teams abilities. The x factor to me has to be desire and respect. Desire to draw up a superior game plan and respect to the opposing foe. If they only play well as underdogs, then let's call them underdogs for the rest of the season. Fine by me.
  9. I like this prediction. The more the team feels that they are the underdog the better based on what we have seen so far. If I were Coach I would be telling them every week that the media, fans, FPI's etc. etc. are saying they are likely to lose every game from here on out. Keep them feeling like the underdog and the fire in their belly. Dogs-ucks gotta hunt.
  10. Wow.........this is a huge loss. A potential trajectory changing loss. We were looking at Kingsley and Kelvin on the ends of the O line for 3 years and that was definitely something I was looking forward to. What a bummer. I suppose we have enough depth to make up for it though.
  11. I wonder what the chance is that DJ U enters the transfer portal? If so, does he consider coming back to Oregon after choosing Clemson over us? I wonder if he is wishing he had chosen differently? Is part of the problem he is having related to distance from home.....cultural etc.? I know when I tried to move to the south I had a hell of a time and ended up back in Oregon fairly quickly.
  12. No, not to me, they are not nearly as entertaining as the Thomas/Mariota led teams from the past decade. I so enjoyed the much smoother and even graceful play of the teams between 2009-2015. That's okay though, I enjoy rooting for this team as well.....at least most of the time. The thing about this team is the frustration of knowing how much more talent is lining up compared with those teams, but without a stellar quarterback the rest of the talent is tempered if not even minimized. Coach em up Coach. Do it by putting them in the game and giving them the ball. If they fail, pick them up and give them the ball again.
  13. BINGO! This is the mic drop comment of all these posts I just read. Situational awareness is the most important thing a coach (and a QB) can bring to the table to help a team win. Not sure why Coach's situational awareness skills seem to lack, especially considering his past training for law enforcement positions, but this is the BIG ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM folks. Dynamic situational awareness is what we need more of from Coach. Now as far as the booing goes. I don't like it, but I think it was earned the hard way through pig headed stubbornness. Really no other way to earn it in my opinion. I do hope it stops though, mostly because I hope a good reason has been given to stop it i.e. the Ducks are rolling or Ty Thompson takes over the QB role.
  14. Wow the PAC12 south had a rough day. O for 4 against the Pac North and USC got handled by Notre Dame for a 0 for 5 day overall. Funny how quick things turn as the Pac South was looking a lot better then the Pac North after the first few games.
  15. Looked good winning in those uniforms too!!!! Funny how winning makes everything look better . With uni's like those you better win, otherwise we may never hear the end of it.
  16. Mario and Mirabel were not what I would describe as passive about those calls going into the half. But overall I agree, they need to be quicker on challenging poor officiating. The problem is there is so much of it it's hard to keep up.
  17. Ooooooo......I see a potential conspiracy theory where the PAC12 officials are being paid off by the ESecPN mob to ensure that west coast football stays downtrodden. As bad as the officiating has been towards the Ducks this season I think this is actually a plausible conspiracy theory.
  18. Turns out yes.........yes they did implement this scheme for the most part. As we all witnessed, this game was schemed completely different than the 4 other games we barely won and 1 we lost against inferior opponents. So it begs the question why? Why, in 5 games versus inferior opponents did the coaching staff decide to just grind it out in a phone booth? WHY....WHY.....WHY?????????
  19. I was feeling pretty good at 34-17 with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Whew! They made it a nail biter again.........but as we like to say with our new motto as Duck fans...........a win is a win. How about DJ James as the much maligned hero? KT was all world though. Sure wish we could get him for one more season.
  20. UCLA 42 Oregon 31, 1 turnover, 205 yards passing Charbonnet and Brown run for 270 yards between the two of them. This is AB's last game as the starting QB.....or at least it should be after he misses on 55% of his throws and misses on 90% of throws beyond 10 yards in this game.
  21. I don't believe I have ever seen any sporting team dawn a uniform with spots/splotches like this before. It's interesting. Not sure I will be able to tell whether I like it or not until I see it on game day.
  22. I like where this is going because it sets us up to be the underdogs again. This may be the type of mindset change we need to get some fire in the belly. Another thing I like about this weekends game is that a bunch of our players are from the LA area and are going to want to go down there and show their skills. Could be a good amount of their family in the stands as well, which never hurts.
  23. It is definitely part of the issue........and many of us believe the solution is in changing this to get some of the blue chippers on the field more. I have said it till I am blue in the face that the best way to coach up talent is through in-game reps. All the young highly rated talent needs to see the field, they need to be fed the rock. My gut keeps telling me that MC is coaching with some bias towards playing older guys......but your exactly right Dan that many of those guys are 3* or below players.
  24. Definitely disappointed with the decision making process that seems to have become a bit of a hallmark of his coaching stint here at Oregon.
  25. Whoa Jon, can I get some of whatever you are taking? I'll go 10-4, 33 and 19. We win the north, beat Utah in the champ game after they beat us in the regular season on their field and then we lose in the Rose Bowl to Penn State.
