  1. Tough start. Good enough finish. Special teams was a huge issue in this game. Even though Thibodeaux isn't putting up many stats these last few games I still think he is having a huge impact by opening up plays for other guys like Bassa and Sewell. Apparently winning ugly is our new thing. I am starting to embrace it I suppose.
  2. Exactly.....I had a real bad feeling we would see a showing like this after getting that ranking. That's why I wasn't happy about it.
  3. Yep.........this is exactly what I expected. Hopefully Moorhead can make an adjustment and we can get at least one touchdown and win by 1 or 2 points. Something like 13-12 maybe if we are lucky. Credit is due to the UW d-coordinator and to their players on defense.
  4. My bet is the Georgia defense doesn't give up more than 21 points in any game this season, including against Alabama. So far the most they have given up is 13.
  5. Huskies 20 Ducks 17, 2, 2, 219 Tough sledding in the bad weather for the offense.
  6. I made it clear the other day I didn't like seeing Oregon as #4.....I mean I did in the sense that it's about time we get respect.......but I like our team as being an underdog and needing that outside motivation and drive to keep us winning play by play. However the more I listen to the talking heads the more I am thinking that the committee just threw us a bone for now, and that even if we win out (highly unlikely as it is) that we will still get bumped. At that point the committee will say "well you just didn't have the big wins down the stretch the way X...Y....Z teams did" and "we respected your early season win at Ohio State, but then you got lapped down the home stretch when football games really count" etc. etc. etc. Point is you can kind of already see this scenario setting up. Is our #4 ranking just a way to begin the process of appeasing what they fear could be a large uproar come some time in December? Only time will tell, but thought I would share a theory I conjured up.
  7. Actually good point.......we didn't lose to Stanford......we lost to one official who decided he wanted to be a big man for a day. I honestly think the playoff committee must have given some credence to this fact.
  8. Yeah, obviously this Utah team is looking a lot better then we did when we traveled to Stanford. This is definitely not helping us regarding the playoff committee. One big difference is that Mckee is not playing though. So maybe that gives us a little bit of the benefit of the doubt.

    Utah

Ummmmmm........yeah. I think our chances against Utah are less than they were against Ohio State.......if they play like they are right now. Of course they did lose to the Beavers in Corvallis a few weeks ago so you never how a PAC12 team is going to show up on any given night. I am pretty confident we are going to go into that Utah game with them as the favorite to win, at least I hope so.
  10. I couldn't agree more Hayward. At the end of the day nearly all my favorite players have not been hyped up high 4 and 5 star guys. In fact I believe we have had a lot of highly rated guys not pan out. I mean even Thib's hasn't met the insane expectations of the media and fans from when he was recruited. Don't get me wrong he has been great, but coming in it was that he was going to have 10+ sacks every season. He hasn't reached that once and these are the last 4-6 games we will ever see him in a Duck uniform. The most important character type we need recruited is heart and desire. Sheer talent is great and goes a long way, but without heart and desire it doesn't go as far. Looks like Kingsley ended up at BYU like pretty much all of us predicted. Family and religion are huge for many poly players so I am not at all surprised. Who was the other WR commit we lost besides Sategna?
  11. I’m at one play at a time at this point. We have seen tremendous inconsistency. We need to win one play at a time from here on out.
  12. I kind of wish this didn’t happen. I am real concerned about a let down. All the rest of our games are trap games. Its going to be very tough sledding from here on out folks. Don’t let this get your hopes up too high. Man…..I am a Debbie Downer……. but I really believe this particular team needs outside motivation, and not being included in this top 4 might have been exactly what we needed. Call me crazy but in my mind the Ducks are an underdog in every one of their remaining games. That needs to be their mindset.
  13. How about this weird turn of events....if Cal holds on to beat the beavers. It's likely our game versus Wazzu at home here in a couple weeks could decide the north division winner. That is going to be a seriously nerve racking game. Wazzu always plays greater than the sum of their parts when traveling to Autzen.
  14. Best case scenario now? Maybe Ohio State beats MSU when they meet in a few weeks, and then Michigan beats Ohio State and then Ohio State comes back and beats MSU again in the Big 10 championship game. So nothing but two loss Big 10 teams. I like this scenario relative to the Ducks getting into the playoffs if they win out.....which is probably a big if.
  15. I really like his demeanor. Always smiling, always throwing positive vibes. Tough dude too.....runs really smart and really hard. His touchdown to Franklin was as good as it gets.
  16. Yeah, it's a tough balance for sure. Guess I was hoping the 2nd and 3rd string D could hold a little better. But I haven't been yelling and screaming about anything this game. Seems like a pretty good showing overall.
  17. And this is how you miss the playoffs. Letting up and making it seem like a much closer game then it should be. The 2nd or 3rd string defense did not look good on the last two Colorado possessions.
  18. Tough to judge off one series but yeah, he looked a little weak on a few throws there for sure.
  19. Definitely played his best game here today. Last week looked pretty good too. Besides the poor clock management at the end of the half I really have no complaints. The defense has looked good when they want to, but it's definitely not a real consistent effort.
  20. No, I am not sure at all. Yeah, if he is healthy and he is not getting opportunities then he may be griping. And that griping may have him riding the pine, which could easily lead to the portal. Hope not though.
  21. Unbelievable. I would love to see an analysis of our 3rd down defense. It has to be one of the worst in the nation.
  22. I have been asking the same question. He must have some sort of nagging injury it seems. He looked good on the 3 carries he has had this season.
  23. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! What was with that 3rd down call? Why make a 2 yard pass when you need 5 yards????? Wow Dye.....come on man. This team needs a lot....and I mean a lot of work on clock management. The offense looks really good other than that. The defense looked horrendous on those last two Colorado drives. Didn't even seem interested.
  24. A more pertinent mantra to me is "win the play". Each play, each movement has to be won. It's the details on each snap of the ball that matter.
