  1. I want Detroit to win. My wife is from Detroit. The city, and its fans have suffered long enough. Kind of a great Cinderella story if they won the Super Bowl. However, what’s left of the city may get torn down in the “celebration “ of that win. Plus, I never have been a San Fran fan. Tough not to like Mcaffery though. He definitely is worth watching.
  2. Kind of sounds like going to an exclusive bar to watch a game. Technology is the future, but time will tell if this flies further than the capital they will spend to broadcast and build venues. Someone is bankrolling this venture. Seems like there has to be more to this than just broadcasting “unique experiences” to a few venues. Perhaps a subscription service so that I can use 3D goggles at home for the experience?
  3. Looks like Alabama may be stepping up to the plate with a basket of NIL $$$. Cornerback is one of the most difficult positions on defense. Would be nice to have this guy in a Ducks uniform. If the Ducks are not able to close the deal, then our young talent gets more playing time. In the end, this is the only way for a young DB to learn and perhaps surprise us all.
  4. If DeBoer doesn’t consistently recruit top 5 recruiting classes like Saban, then I fully expect he will will “struggle” under the pressure of trying to maintain Alabama’s level of play. My take on Scott Frost is that he was an elite athlete that did not have the personality traits needed to excel at recruiting. Therefore he blamed Eugene for his shortcomings. Recruiting is at the heart of long term success for a college head coach. The one thing Slick Willy did for Oregon was open our eyes that top recruits would come to Eugene. Cristobal solidified that fact. Dan Lanning appears to be special when it comes to recruiting. He has the personality and work ethic needed to excel. If he continues to learn and improve as a coach, then ….
  5. Like it, or not. The media pays a high percentage of the bills of college sports. However, the number of games played by playoff teams may become an issue. Injuries definitely will increase. That may be the catalyst for changing the number of games played, but won’t eliminate the conference championships.
  6. When Bo arrived there were mixed feelings. Some thought Ty Thompson might beat him out for the starting position. Then we all had a chance to watch Bo become a Heisman contender and become one of Oregon’s best. His legacy as a transfer QB and success pays dividends into the future. As evidenced by Dillon Gabriel choosing Oregon. Our future looks bright. Thank you Bo.
  7. Took survey. I would pay a premium for upgraded facilities in the $250 to $300 per ticket range for an upgraded experience. But, all I would expect would be seat backs, and a little extra leg space for that price. However, I also realize that additional less expensive seating is also needed. I would donate more money annually if I felt the project was an overall enhancement and equitable upgrade for premium and more affordable ticket pricing. The club and other more private game day experiences are more expensive than I want to pay. Those spaces are definitely needed for any upgrade to be worthwhile. An upgrade on the north side is inevitable. Concessions, and restrooms on that side are terrible and in need of a remodel.
  8. The pursuit of one*’s professional goals while still keeping an eye on your family’s health and well being can be difficult at best. There are so many balls to juggle and try to keep in the air when you have a young family. It is refreshing to see that DL has embraced Eugene, and the Oregon Ducks for his professional goals and family well being. Next step is to prove that Oregon is a destination where the goal of winning a National Championship becomes reality.
  9. Dan Lanning is on an upward trajectory. I feel with his ability to recruit both staff and players that Oregon Football is as solid as it has ever been. Behind the scenes Oregon’s NIL program is top notch and Phil Knight’s influence on the program can never be overlooked. Oregon provides more to Dan Lanning than just a head coaching job. They also provide committed support and the infrastructure to build a Championship Program. I am excited to see where this goes.
  10. Chip’s coaching career can be seen in the rear view mirror. I have to think his best work was in Eugene and he parlayed that success into some nice paychecks for awhile. Looks like those paychecks are going to dry up soon.
  11. Just too much burger. It just my wife and myself. But, I agree that is solid beef.
  12. Ribeye in a pan works just fine. Two tablespoons butter, garlic , and seasonings. Constantly basting the steak with the butter. Not a meat snob and won’t debate anyone on the “best”. Many top chefs know how to cook using a pan. Doesn’t mean it’s the best, or worst, just a way.
  13. I care about recruiting. These are teenagers and there is a huge learning curve in front of them. Some will succeed and some will not. Nature of the beast. I have never felt the need to feel close to any of these kids. They certainly aren’t looking up into the stands thinking that they want to hang with me after the game. I don’t drive back to Portland thinking that I really need to get to know these guys. I guess I don’t follow your message.
  14. What is amazing is that USC and UCLA the self proclaimed jewels of LALA LAND, have classes currently ranked 29th and 58th. Must be the smog.
  15. Moore knows he is not the man. Guy has some significant holes in his game for this level. QB’s usually show some upside early. He was pulled as a starter quickly. I honestly don’t expect much from him. Which maybe exactly what he needs to get his head back into relearning how to run a football team at this level.
  16. Every top recruit contemplating going to Miami should do their homework. I would personally advise them to watch every news conference with MC explaining losses and his demeanor. While there were losses where his Miami team was outmanned, There also is a recurring theme even from his Oregon days that his coaching style held back the team and QB. NIL deals will help Miami, but are they 100% sold that MC is their guy? $80 million contract says he must get better than his 7 - 5 record fast.
  17. I look at TT’s performance on the field. When given the opportunity to rise to the occasion he had some epic fails. Perhaps it was nerves, but it was not a body of work that shouted starter material. Generally, a young gun QB shows potential early. TT showed he clearly was a work in progress at best. He had some nice passes in mop up duty this year, but his body of work did not impress the coaches. The Oregon coaches want to have a chance to compete for a conference championship. They are the ones that TT had to convince that he was their guy. While it would have been a great story of perseverance to have him turn into a solid QB at Oregon. It just didn’t work out that way. The coaches saw what was available in the transfer portal and got their QB for next year. Does their decision to add a QB from the transfer portal really qualify as the Oregon Ducks failing TT?
  18. Smarter people than me behind the scenes know what truly is going on. While I would be surprised that a court rules that distributions from the PAC media rights deal need not be made to exiting colleges. Just can’t get too fired up about contract law that is completely out of my control. If it is legal to take those monies, then just another reason Larry Scott, and his enablers, should take the blame for the smoking heap of ashes their legacy left behind.
  19. Probably a beaver fan. A boomer is a beaver.
  20. Dillon Gabriel is coming to Eugene. Cam Ward is not.
  21. The one thing about Moore that I like is that he has an NFL QB body. Big dude. If he can accept mop up duties to hone his skill set, then he is a solid guy to have in the wings. He also would have the most game experience in case of injury.
  22. For me, Ignorance is bliss. For starters,I don’t know most of these players anyways. While it is nice to hear the Ducks are in the mix for top talent at a position, many players will want to name top programs of interest to try to create a bidding war. Therefore, the stated interest in a program could be just an illusion. I don’t get too excited until they actually accept an offer.
  23. One of the most valuable assets on offense is a veteran QB. A one and done QB may not sound great, but a veteran QB who was among the top 5 QBs in the nation sounds pretty good to me.
