  1. Duke’s in Lake Oswego is another good one…
  2. Hey everyone, we got to try on the newest safety gear from ODOT.
  3. Two other downtown choices: Fields Bar and Grill and The Independent bar and grill. Depends on the crowd you want to hang with.
  4. I think the Duck club goes to Birdie Time Pub 925 SE Main Street They “host” a watch party for a lot of the games.
  5. 4th quarter, after Moore’s drive for a field goal.
  6. DG is a baller, and showed teams in front of us that he is certainly a duel threat. Always a thorn to opposing defenses. However, not sure you get DG as the answer from players as to the identity of the team. Identity to me is the collective perception of how a team goes about winning a game. How do the players perceive their roles, and the focus they have carrying out those roles. Trusting its leadership is certainly key, but they also must trust each other. DG is a large part of winning, but every QB takes on that role. Identity happens when key players stumble, and others are needed to pick them up.
  7. Watching DG become more vocal at the line of scrimmage is a sign to me that he is getting comfortable with the playbook, and is identifying defensive looks that can create problems. There is definitely a learning curve. I think a lack of game time led to poor execution, penalties, and turnovers. They are really never eliminated from the game, but get minimized as a team works things out together. I don’t think for a second that DG had sufficient time to have completely mastered all the details of running a new playbook on a new team. But, his play on Saturday showed us that he is starting to get it. Give us a few more games, and we could get pretty darn good.
  8. Interestingly, Strother had the highest pff grade on the OL for the game, followed by Cornelius, and then Conerly Jr. Perhaps Strother is a better gamer, than practice guy. The coaches found an OL combo that played a clean game together. A huge step in the right direction.
  9. The upside is that Bedford will provide depth for the long haul. A long way to go…
  10. Nice recap. Simple game plan, force a running team to pass. The OL gave DG the opportunity to shine, and the offense gave us a reason to believe that we still are a very good team. The talent gap was obvious, and the Ducks dominated as one would expect from this level of talent. It was interesting that there were actually predictions of a loss. Winning doesn’t always come easy, Georgia squeaks by Kentucky, and Notre Dame….well, they always seem to do less with more. The schedule ahead gets harder, but with a team that plays well together, anything is still possible.
  11. It was a good game for the team. The OL play lifted everyone, DG was in command, the running game did major damage , and the scoring was more akin to what we all expected. The defense probably would have allowed just 10 points if not for the bad call at the end of the half. This game was much needed going into the bye week.
  12. ESPN answers to Disney’s Board of Directors. (ESPN, ABC) The companies long time CEO (Bob Iger) took back the company a few years ago because of declining revenues (stock price). The company has been gearing up to launch a joint venture Sports streaming platform called Venu Sports. Iger toyed with selling equity shares of ESPN to the NFL. Capital was probably needed for the joint venture. FUBO filed anti-trust lawsuit that has blocked the launch of the new sports platform. The PAC12 was forced to renegotiate its expired contract at a time where ESPN has to keep expenditures in check because of uncertainty. I guess the point is that the Board of Directors call the shots…I am guessing they are not throwing out any new huge contracts beyond the $7.8 billion contract paid for the CFP.
  13. I want to two things from the offense. An uptempo pace that shows DG getting more comfortable with the playbook, and coaching adjustments that show that the available talent on the OL is sufficient to win big with. I want to see our defensive line control the running game. Coaching staff needs to show that they understand issues that are plaguing this team. Run with the players that play well together, perhaps not always the best players.
  14. Business using money earned by others to beat down friendly neighbors seems to be be a more appropriate storyline.
  15. Length of time a fan of sports = perspective. So many ways to win, or lose in any sport. Given enough time we get to see most of them. The fact that we won was not because of two plays. My math tells me that two touchdowns does not equal 37 points. Btw…a football team can win if their defense scores more points than the opposing offense.
  16. Sports psychology extrapolates a loss? (what data points are used in sports psychology extrapolation) If you mean that if the Duck offense continues to play poorly that they could lose…sure. They will not lose because the beaver crowd is being mean to them.
  17. After 127 games in the same conference our connection to osu is now an out of conference game on the schedule. Stating that they are in state rivals seems somewhat awkward. It is like saying that Portland State is an in state rival.
  18. Technology has changed how we live, work, and play. I think there is always a learning curve in how to use technologies as they become available. The human element is still going to be part of the game. While communication is important, there will be coaches that will be better at using the technology than others. Determining what information your players need is the key. There also will be players that may find it distracting to be trying to listen to a coach on a headset while playing the game, and others that will thrive.
  19. In both games, our offense starts to take control of the game, and then a comedy of errors occurs. A couple of things they haven’t done is give up a safety, or snapped the ball over the QB’s head inside the red zone. They are winning, and have shown glimpses that they are capable of playing very well. I will remain optimistic.
  20. Couple more wins in a row and we should be at about #18.
  21. Just got home from game…ughhh We are not top ten material. The home crowd was loud and fired up. They never gave up hope. However, definitely had some boos from the crowd on the choice of plays when we ran the ball into a brick wall on third and forever near our own end zone. OL is in disarray, which means our running game is non existent. Pickard might be a good story, but I don’t think his leadership at center is working. We need solutions to the OL problems. Otherwise, our defense will need to win games for us, because the offense is mediocre at best.
  22. Replacing an NFL Caliber center was never going to be easy. The OL is in flux right now. Poncho, and Bedford, looked to be the starters at center, and guard. Pickard is suddenly our replacement at center, and Poncho gets shuffled over to guard. This was the game where we could afford to have a walk-on start at center. Pickard and Poncho were weak links in this game. Much of that is the fact that they never have played together in a game. Their inexperience was exposed. Not too sure if the starting lineup changes, but you don’t fix inexperience in one week.
  23. The right side of the line struggled. To me it Obviously the sun doesn’t impact blocking. I don’t know if you were at the game, but i will tell you that it definitely impacted DG’s ability to see anything downfield in the 3rd quarter. I don’t understand your point.
