  1. Perhaps it is not entirely Mario. There used to be a lot of continuity with the Oregon coaching staff until CK went to Philly. Since then, if Oregon has success, other programs are hiring our assistants, or head coaches in a rather short time. Coaches become the “hired gun” that will turn around a program that is in disarray. I guess the amusing part is that most fans felt Oregon was on the wrong track with it’s offense, and now that Miami hired part of our problem, they appear to be flying off the rails as well.
  2. I think Justin Herbert endured and overcame a lot of mundane play calling. I say that Justin’s abilities are the main reason that Miami paid big money for our ex- coach. They are finding out quickly that all they are getting is a pretty good recruiter.
  3. Goes both ways… Offense had issues in the first half of play. Execution of plays in the red zone cost us the lead going into halftime. However, the Ducks offense came out firing in the second half. Defensive errors in the second half were really giving WSU opportunities to put the game away. The offense kept chopping away in the second half, and ultimately, I would give them credit for winning this game.
  4. Oregon is averaging just under 300 yds passing and around 195 yds rushing per game. The Ducks can move the ball and it is good to see that brand of football return. Our OL definitely sets the tone for our games. Their ability to pass protect and create running lanes for our RBs is a huge part of our success. Being able to win a shoot out is part of today’s college game. As everyone knows, physicality doesn’t necessarily score points.
  5. Nothing more exciting than watching our receivers break free and Nix hitting them in stride. The way Oregon was marching up and down that field they probably should have scored +50 points. A come from behind win on the road will certainly help this teams confidence and resolve during any tough games ahead. Looks like a potent offense has finally returned to Oregon.
  6. I have always liked the Ducks white uniforms. They also wore white uniforms when Kenyon Barner scored 5 TDS at USC in 2012. Of all the away games that I have attended over the years, that one is still one of my favorites.
  7. The Ducks are not one dimensional. They can run and pass the ball effectively if necessary. It will become more and more difficult to shut down the Ducks on offense as they get used to the new offense. Defensively, I think the team continues to improve this weekend. WSU creates some unique problems, but they also will be facing a team and coaching staff that has some things to prove. I say we move ahead as a team. They will definitely not be overlooking this as just another game.
  8. These are the type of games that the rodents need to win to continue the momentum they have been slowly building. Would love to watch the Troy boys hype machine fly off the rails in Corvallis.
  9. Sorry, meant to pin this in the daily articles.
  10. I think this team still wants to prove that the game in Atlanta was partly bad timing. The players and coaches all know they need to improve and will not take this game lightly. WSU is always a feisty team and the Ducks would be a huge win for them. However, I think the Ducks continue to show improvement and take care of business.
  11. It is difficult to play the perfect season. You guys are the media darlings right now and everyone else you compete with wants to knock your teeth out. Injuries can change the dynamics of a team quickly. Stay healthy and you guys are looking good. Most fans know if their team has a legit shot at the title. Media attention comes and goes. Enjoy it for what it is worth. You are only as good as your last game, and the media is just reporting what they have seen. Good luck.
  12. Streaming subscriptions topped 300 million during the pandemic. There are certainly many sports fans included in those subscription numbers. Amazon is paying $1.2 billion per year to stream 15 NFL games. That is an increase of 80% over what Fox was previously paying. Streaming entertainment is here to stay, and the competition to be able to provide content has expanded into mainstream sports. The PAC 12 network would definitely benefit by selling some of it’s content and expanding viewership capabilities.
  13. The coaching staff and team has had 3 games to operate a new offense and defense. The offensive scheme certainly has improved and is much less predictable. Defensively, we are starting to look formidable. Oregon had to scramble to replace it’s head football coach. DL came in and helped stabilize the team, brought in a solid staff, and is bringing in impressive recruits. I expect DL will thrive given time. Do I expect them to win every remaining game? Realistically, no…but, they do have me thinking that it is possible. The team looks to me like they have a solid chance to be in the mix for the conference championship game.
  14. DL has assembled an impressive staff for a first time head coach. Some of these coaches opted to leave stable positions to work with the rookie head coach in Eugene. From his OC, and DC, to the various position coaches, it appears they are all improving the product on the field. When guys like Coach Locklyn get immediate results and views their job as an opportunity to serve the players beyond just teaching them the game of football, it certainly helps fans buy back into the program.
  15. Carlos Locklyn is an upgrade at RB coach. His guys are playing hard and getting it done. DL’s statement of “if you are good enough, you are old enough” looks to be spot on. Potential recruits will certainly notice how many freshman are getting on the field.
  16. Happy to see that offense make it’s way home to Miami.
  17. I can’t root for the Huskies, ever. To much exposure to the pompous fans during the Don James era. The year they posted a 0 - 12 record was one of the best years in college football.
  18. 1) Turnovers will be a deciding factor in this game. DL’s mantra of the defense winning the turnover battle each week is for a very good reason. Winning that battle is what great defenses are all about. 2) Nix needs to be solid. 3) Some of the young players at the skill positions will need to shine. 4) Special teams play. 5) The Autzen Stadium factor.
  19. Pandemic created a spike in demand for online shopping. Amazon is simply making adjustments based upon forecasting models. Not sure what you are referring to regarding a gimmick, but demand for online entertainment content will continue to grow and Amazon is a major player.
  20. Herbert is physically a big guy that has honed his passing abilities. Every week he makes highlight reel throws to his receivers. Win or lose it is always enjoyable to watch him play. I always check out Charger highlights on YouTube. Combine his size and abilities with his intelligence, which is another big part of his success, and you easily have a QB who is capable of winning a Super Bowl. He will be a Hall of Fame candidate if he stays healthy.
  21. I think coaches need to pay attention to the transfer portal and the players that are available. We had two unproven QBs when DL and his staff took over. Dillingham, and Lanning were familiar with Nix. Therefore, Nix was brought in to provide “stability” at QB. I suppose any QB that wins becomes popular. Vernon Adams was exciting to watch for the short time he played for the Ducks. However, developing younger QB talent takes patience, and when the coaching staffs job security is based on wins over losses, transfer QBs become more and more popular. Pesonally, it was hard to root for Nix to win the starting job. Both TT and JB chose to come to Oregon and want to play for the Ducks. Nix is not a true Duck…unless he wins. ; )
  22. From a defensive perspective there are not that many players focusing on the QB at the snap. The defense probably gets more information from the formation, the personnel on the field, and where the RB is set.
  23. Traffic on I5 just south of Salem 3 hours before game time is generally very congested and slow. It will probably take an extra 20 minutes to get to Eugene. If you don’t have tailgating plans the Moshofsky Center is located next to the stadium. It is an indoor practice field. You can grab food, sodas, or beer inside.
  24. Timing is sometimes everything. I think our OL struggles next year because of lack of playing time together. However, the offensive skill guys are going to be solid. The biggest concern I have in two years is getting a still very young OL playing together at a high level.
