Mario will probably improve, but I love seeing Canes fans gripe about him. They thought everything would be rainbows and unicorns with him leading the team and they were quick to dismiss any Duck fan who told them otherwise. I also think it’s hilarious that they think firing Gattis after this season is a forgone conclusion. They already have threads going about who is going to replace him. I don’t think they understand how stubborn Mario is about the type of offense he wants to run.

I too would take this information with a grain of salt if not for one bit of information….it’s Lane Kiffin. Finebaum also had an AU beat writer named Nubyjas Wilborn on his show who said that Auburn might make their decision by Friday. There are only a few coaches whose regular seasons will be over on Friday. Kiffin, Leach and a bunch of dudes who Auburn doesn’t want. However, Cadillac Williams is always a possibility. Announcing him as HC before the Irom Bowl would be a nice touch.

Kiffin just Tweeted this. Pretty funny. However, he has yet to say “I’m not leaving Ole Miss”.

Without this picture I don’t appreciate his “surrender cobra” picture from the 2018 game as much.

This guy covers Mississippi State, but he’s also the one who broke the story about their AD going to Auburn. The one thing that convinces me is the blowout he took last week. It seems like he’s no longer committed to Ole Miss. This situation seems very familiar to me.

This guy seems to think so. This explains why Ole Miss got hammered by a middling Arkansas team on Saturday. Kiffin’s head was likely elsewhere.

I see that Ole Miss fell out of the poll after getting roasted by Arkansas. Kiffin is coaching like he has another job waiting for him. Now, where have I seen this before?

Notre Dame’s defense locked Ohio State’s vaunted offense down pretty well. I don’t think USC beating them is a forgone conclusion.

It’s kind of like being lucky enough to catch Colorado late in the year.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t end as bad as the last time the Ducks went with a backup QB at home against Utah.

32% from the field and 64% from the line isn’t going to get it done.

Looks like Miami will be looking for another QB.

I’ve read Swing Your Sword and seen plenty of his swashbuckling hijinx from behind the microphone. I like his style. I celebrate his entire calendar. His latest bit about eating a fish sandwich under a shade tree is pure gold. Long story short. If missing Mike Leach is wrong then I don’t want to be right.

There is always the possibility of another transfer QB. There are few out there who could use some rehabilitation. Guys like DJU and Van Dyke come to mind.

There was a time when the Heisman winner could have 3 losses (see Tebow in 2007), but the best stats in the nation. These days it seems he has to take his team to the national championship.

If the Auburn fans on SDS aren’t mentioning it then it’s probably not a decent rumor. They all seem to be focused on 3 coaches. Prime, Freeze and Kiffin. However, if DL continues to have success here then he will be courted by every SEC team who needs a new coach. Look for a team like Florida to be after him in the next couple of years if Napier doesn’t at least win the SEC East.

What Auburn wants and what they need are two different things. Their biggest booster, Jimmy Rane, wants to have a great deal of control because he is the one funding all of the buyouts. In some strange way, I get where he’s coming from. However, Auburn needs a head coach who can cater to his ego while simultaneously telling him to keep his nose out of team affairs. In order to do that they need to hire a Saban-like coach who doesn’t need Auburn as much as they need him. The problem is those guys are hard to come by. Urban Meyer might be the only one out there who is available. Even if they were to get a very good coach like Hugh Freeze, Kiffin, Lanning, etc. those guys have to win early like Malzahn did. That bought him a lot of time. The only problem is they have to be in the hunt every year. To their boosters, that means the Iron Bowl should decide who wins the SEC West. That’s a tough task considering the company they keep in that division.

Washington has a potent offense. They’re scary this year and I’m sure they’re getting sick and tired of losing to the Ducks. They’ll be plenty motivated.

Here’s a quote from Hugh Freeze. “I don’t know that Auburn wants me. I have no clue,” Freeze told 247Sports. “I know this: I have won everywhere I’ve been and my staff and kids have turned programs fast. It’s our culture that we instill. I know we do that and the proof is in the pudding.” Read into his response what you will, but he sounds like a guy who is looking to move up.

This says it all about The U. Their fans hit harder than their defense.

Let us all take a short break to remember that Mario was 3-0 against the Fuskies. Okay, now back to how much Miami sucks.

It could be worse. You could live in the Panthers market. I have the NFL channel (it comes as part of the sports package I get solely for the PAC 12 channel) so I can catch glimpses of the Duck Bowl on their Gameday Live broadcast.

Not too mean, but I believe it’s bad karma unless it’s the backups doing the scoring in the 4th quarter. Chris Peterson lost a lot of respect for rubbing the Ducks beaks in the dirt. Most of us will be forever grateful to MC for never losing to them. Of course, he had his own motivation for his Fuskie hatred. How dare they try to share a national championship with his ‘90 Hurricanes team.

The next two games should sell out, but I expect to see a lot of purple in the stands next week and red the following week. I think the most embarrassing games were Tennessee in 2013 and Nebraska in 2017. Those were easily 30-35% visiting fans. Good thing they just came to Eugene to see their teams lose.
