  1. Probably the all time leader in yards after contact.
  2. I've some how become a new fan of FSU who are also attempting a resurrection in the sunshine state. Seems like whichever team gets on their feet first may swing the recruiting momentum for good. Of course if they both fall flat on their faces, that also works for me.
  3. Ducks 34-31 3 3 285 Ducks O comes alive with passing of the guard at QB which wakes up the D in a come from behind victory!
  4. I think the biggest problem that the bowls have is that the games just don't really matter. Look at how many players come out of nowhere and become house hold names in just a few games/ weeks during March Madness. In that environment, you get to see who is just sleep walking while accumulating stats and who are the real team leaders that push their teams to victory. I think it's in everybody's best interest to have a Sweet Sixteen playoff tournament that show cases what players can do when it really matters. A couple more NIT levels of playoffs would also help showcase the talents of many more players not on elite teams. It just seems like this would benefit everybody from players to Universities, media, bowl venues and the NFL. I don't see why this hasn't already been done yesterday.
  5. Great news! Portal, recruiting and coaching updates are my favorite topics on OBD. It feels like the portal guys are using it for some one on one time with the new coach. Let's see if DJ James is next.
  6. As much as I hate all things SEC, a UGA thumping of UM is a win for the Ducks so go Fighting Lannings!
  7. Mr. Walk 1 Mr. Talk 0 Cyrus Moss will be the rematch. Expect more of the same.
  8. AB is a stand up guy, a gritty competitor and a team leader. He also just has a limited skill set and would be a decent starter on an average team. On a top ten team he would be a good back up QB that could at least steady the ship if disaster strikes. Expecting him to carry the load the entire season is a failure by the adults in charge of having 4/5 star QBs ready to lead the team. Most of the season I felt more frustrated for AB being put in a position he wasn't equipped for rather than being frustrate with him for the results of his efforts. In the championship game I felt he should have been pulled simply for his own mental health.
  9. I'm pretty sure this close to what coach Lanning said to him to bring him back on board.
  10. In the age of NIL, what stops a bowl sponsor or game advertiser from putting teams in promos and paying them for their work? Seems like a legitimate cash reward incentive to play in the game.
  11. In the words of Bachman Turner Overdrive "you ain't seen nothing yet".
  12. Lupoi will be a D coordinator under Lanning much like Helfrich was an O coordinator under Kelly. I think the defense will be just fine.
  13. I agree. I thought this was Mario's best on field coaching moment. Putting showboating before the team should always be met with a coaches wrath. I also the he handled it well and went on to become one of the few bright spots on offense the rest of the season.
  14. Thanks Herbie! If not for you, we may have had an avalanche of exodus after the Utah drubbings. Our offensive coordinator had two feet out the door and for good reason. Who would have even wanted the job next year. A Georgia beat down to start the year was all but garunteed and BYU would have been Utah 3.0. Throw in a few stepped on garden rake games like Stanford and a final Helfrich like season may have been inevitable. I honestly don't know if I could have watched another year of Mario ball and I'm sure I'm not alone. Lanning has done more for the UO's hope for the future in his spare time the last couple weeks than Mario had in the last year. You can see this just by the way guys have returned from the portal and early draft considerations. The team itself seems to have found hope. Once again. thanks Herbie.
  15. This why I'd advocate for a sixteen team tourney with two lower NIT versions. That would give 48 teams a playoff experience instead of a passe bowl obligation. Everybody makes more money, players get more exposure in important games and the NFL gets to see how players perform in playoff situations. Also, if they went with a select amount of conference champs filling out the top brackets, we could move past the beauty pageant contest of fake 12-0 records though weak in and out of conference scheduling. If done right, it seems like everyone would win. Propping up the dieing horse of a bowl system seems to reaching an ungloryious end.
  16. Wow. I counted 15 injuries and 7 "not at practice" and 4 portal/ transfers. Is there any kind of breakdown the separates practice and game injuries? Nearly a third of the players either can't play or have left the team. I think there's a bigger behind the scenes story here than the public knows about.
  17. I think Travis should hang up the cleats and pick up the whistle. The fire and tenacity this guy brings to every down is beyond amazing. Without Dye repeatedly dragging a pile of defenders passed the first down marker every game, the Ducks would have been lucky to finish above .500 this year. If pro ball doesn't work out, I hope he returns to the Ducks on staff.
  18. I visualize an image of the Pac 12 presidents sitting together by a pool on a yacht all wearing ascots while holding brandy snifters and chortling about the prestige of their elite club. Meanwhile, the heads of the rest of the power five attend to the business of making money.
  19. I may be wrong but I think that every starting QB the Ducks had from Chris Miller in '84 to Dennis Dixon 2008 was at least drafted by the NFL. I've always considered the UO a QB school.
  20. The way Lanning talked about being dazzled by the Mariota lead Ducks while an assistant at ASU, leads me to believe that he sees a high octane offense being the ultimate recruiting tool. These young coaches were also youngsters being mesmerized by Chip's reinvention of football and understand that appeal as a national brand. Both Lanning and Dillingham seem to be outside the box thinkers reinventing schemes on both sides of the ball. I think they both found the perfect home. I see good things ahead and sooner than later.
  21. If the team just gets coached to their current start level (4 starish team), they should be favorites in every game next year except Georgia. They'd need to get coached up to 5 starish to win it all and I'd have to see it to believe it at this point.
