  1. You can only deny something for so long until everybody knows that it's true.
  2. If the UO wants to stay cutting edge, they need to get ahead of the pack. That's what they did with Chip. That's what they should do with Lanning.
  3. The dude has basically gone from ball boy to top coordinator in the country in just 7-8 years. The guy is only 35. That's a trajectory that tells me he hasn't come close to hitting his peak yet. On the other hand, I think Mario hit his peak in 2019 thanks to Herbert and Troy Dye being handed to him as Seniors. He's been coasting ever since.
  4. Expectations: Saved recruiting class, Some recruits follow him here, continued recruiting success, top O coordinator brought in, Pac North domination. Pac domination. playoff contender.
  5. I'm sure there are extra sensitive negotiations happening behind the scenes due to Georgia's playoff run. I also think it's best for both schools to get this wrapped up sooner than later. Georgia doesn't want rumors turning into distractions and UO doesn't want recruits abandoning ship around signing day. An announcement anytime between today and Monday sounds about right.
  6. If the Lanning deal falls through I'd say this is the way to go. What ever damage to one recruiting class and portal exodus happens, it would be worth it to get that top dog hire locked in the next year.
  7. If Mario thought getting booed in the stands was bad, wait until he gets booed in the faculty room.
  8. Here’s a quick overview of just how amazing the UGA defense was this year. Points allowed SEC: 66 in eight games. Next best is 171 by AnM Points allowed total: 83 in 12 games. Next best is 191 by AnM Points allowed per game SEC: 13 South Carolina, 0 Vanderbilt, 0 Arkansas, 10 Auburn, 13 Kentucky, 7 Florida, 6 Missouri, 17 Tennessee Also only gave up 3 to Clemson. That’s no soft schedule. UGA’s defense ranks at the top or in the top 5 in the country in almost every significant statistical category including total yards per game as well both run and passing yards. Lanning has been the UGA defensive coordinator since 2018 so that entire defensive squad are his guys. He seems like the real deal. If this hire happens, it could be an epic event.
  9. And I'm sure Lawrence Taylor could show Sewell and Flowe a thing or two....
  10. Who knows if this is true or not but if it is it would be awesome. Keeping teams under twenty alone would win the the Pac 12. Throw in a top notch O Coordinator and the Ducks would be regular playoff contenders.
  11. I just have a feeling Kiffin will arrive in town around midnight on a private jet and be helicoptered to a meeting in Uncle Phill's Autzen bunker with a hiring announcement tomorrow morning.
  12. What if Mullens and crew talked with the team and recruits and told them they were in serious talks with some A tier coaches but due to being A tier, they are committed to their current teams into January either because of playoffs, NY6 bowls or NFL. This will delay an announcement but keep us on track towards returning to championship contention. Seems like straight shooting like that could keep the bulk of the team and recruiting class together and set up long term success. I think the right hire is more important than a quick hire.
  13. At least he knew how to utilize Herbert.
  14. This is usually what he says right before they start getting better.
  15. If they're saying no to Kiffin, I hope it's because they've got a bigger fish on the line.
  16. That's a lot of doe to pay to lead Duke by six heading into the 4th qtr.
  17. I hear Mario left a note on the coaches desk that said to start AB.
  18. I mean if we're actually thinking about Kiffin, we might as well go all the way with Prime Time!
  19. The down side of Kiffin is he'd only be here a couple years. The good side of Kiffin is he'd only be here a couple years.
  20. A somewhat disappointing list but I guess I'd take a hopefully matured Kiffin out of the four. I highly doubt he would have stuck with AB through hell and high water over our star studded youngsters. Still holding out four an upper level SEC coordinator myself.
  21. A big step up yes but half the folks on this forum would be thrilled if an offensive coordinator from New Hampshire with no prior head coaching experience returned.
  22. Deion Sanders was Just named SWAC coach of the year after going 11-1 and 8-0 in conference. The average scores for Jackson ST were 29-13. Can you imagine UO recruiting in LA with Prime Time walking into a 5 start kids living room?
  23. If all this is true then I would also suspect that team PK has given the UO a list of replacement candidates Friday evening. Things may start moving at warp speed on Monday.
  24. Wow indeed. That pulled offer will show somebody out there that the UO IS a destination school and Uncle Phil ain't playing around.
  25. Mario's silence is his statement. If your lady asks you if it's going to be her or the other woman and you pause to think, it's already over. Pretty much the same thing going on here. I say pull the offer and move on with some dignity. Maybe offer a top D coach from the SEC (Georgia, Alabama), let him bring along a position coach to run his system then giving the him $$$ to shower on the top offensive brain available. That $9,000,000 from Miami could go along way stocking up on top notch assistants. We shouldn't be acting like it's Mario or bust.
