  1. Unfortunately, that was not the case in Charles' first video. Numbers 0, 1, and 2 were experienced starters, Johnson, Burch, and Bassa. They were biting on that qb fake like kids on Snickers bars. There were some bonehead coverages on that first drive by experienced players. I guess I'm with the plurality here ... namely that TL gets a substandard grade, at least for last season and the first PSU 'drive'. Also, some of the later incompletions were bad passes and not because of good coverage. BUT, that said, and overall, I thought the defense played pretty well and have given me hope for the season.
  2. I think TT did a fine job. But let us please reserve a tiny bit of our enthusiasm for his play ... and also that of the team. We'll certainly learn more against a team with a pulse. The PSU game was a great one for us to watch and I was joyous. But a celebration of expectation should more likely be a modulated atta-boy/team and some hope for the future. It's a LONG season and the PAC is loaded this year. Work is yet to be done. GO DUCKS!
  3. Apparently Sling does not carry the PAC-12 Network. Are you keeping the cable in order to watch all things Ducks?
  4. ACC adds Stanford, Cal, SMU as new members beginning 2024-25 - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM The ACC presidents and chancellors met Friday morning and voted to add three schools -- Stanford, Cal and SMU -- beginning in the 2024-25 school year. It will bring the league to 18 members -- 17...
  5. Thanks for the info on this game, gents. I, unfortunately, subscribe to Spectrum. They refused to pay Disney's asking price for their programming and Disney/ESPN shut down the feed...right at game time. There is no word on when we may (or may not) see ESPN again on Spectrum. Gads I hate cable. The only reason I'm not on DirecTV was to get the Duck games. Guess I'll have to find a decent streamer channel for sports or maybe go to Direct and fubo. Ugh........... I hate this stuff. Our cost increases for everything is getting out of hand.
  6. Fun article and it's good to have you writing again, Darren. But I have one BOne to pick with you. (Don't be a Barren-Darren.) Namely ... "BOwling for Heisman: Nah, invokes thoughts of beer-drinking slobs and a certain slob movie director. Would not work well in the minds of Heisman voters." I'll have you know that I was a respected professional TEQUILA-drinking slob BOwler. And we enjoyed the companionship of beer-drinking slob BOwlers. Although, they constantly threw their balls in the gutter.
  7. Apparently, there were 3 of us. I attended Cal in the early '60s, saw all of their (as well as Stanford's) games ... and oh woe is me. Those games were intolerable. I wonder if that's what started me drinking......
  8. Your Honor, I believe that interest in my client, Week 0 Games, ranks well above, uh, zero. As evidence I enter into the record amazing and interesting upsets from last year's football season. App St. def. TAMU. Marshall def. Notre Dame (1/2 of a yea) So. Illinois def Northwestern Middle Tennessee def. Miami (full yea!) At least for me, I'll be watching the U$C game (well ... at least the first quarter) and hoping the Condoms get their butts handed to them by SJS (and Week 1, by Nevada). America loves underdogs and that's what makes eyeballs turn to these weird matchups. And lastly, you Honor, after an interminable offseason of conference deflation discussion, I would suggest that we'd even watch high school football games in order to get back to the game we love. We all only get a limited amount of football seasons in our lives. We, the Defense, say, "enjoy them to the max." Thank you, sir. Please find my client innocent of all charges.
  9. Many thanks for finding and posting this, NJD. For a lot of reasons, I feel really blessed to have reached another season of college football. And for certain I'm ready for more football and less administrative intrigue. And, oh yeah .... GO DUCKS!!
  10. Thanks for another great and instructional article, Coach. Question: Can an additional RPO exist, namely the qb sprinting left toward the single receiver? This would seem to put extreme pressure on the db (and outside lb).
  11. You're absolutely right about the video resolution crap that Spectrum puts out. (And I also cannot abide their goofy remote interface and limited channel recording.) But there is good news on the horizon for us unhappy Spectrum users. Well, good news for me for certain, anyway. Though no service is without its issues, I like the satellite service from DirecTV. The BTN is in their sports package. I will happily be going (back) to DirecTV at the end of this basketball season and enjoying the Ducks next year in the B1G.
  12. He has had to quell rumors that he is unhappy with the Bruins and his NIL. Transfer rumors are in the wind. MSN WWW.MSN.COM
  13. I've (mostly) held my tongue during this slow rolling fiasco, the deterioration of the PAC-12. It was like watching a creeping, inescapable wildfire taking out our home. But let's be brutally honest here. Simply EVERYONE on this forum could have been wiser and more determined to drive the league to continuing success than the idiot team of LS, GK, and the moronic lack of attention by university regents and presidents. And I'd venture that we'd be a lot more open and honest about the processes. Granted we don't know the little secrets of the PAC meetings or media negotiations. But still ... this band of inept power-holders (I-P's for short) destroyed a century old conference in double time. The supposed saving deal with Apple was nonsense from the start. Without linear broadcast of games, competitive money could not be achieved. Lack of media visibility for OBD would have damaged recruiting for years and the damage would appear in very short order. The "cutting edge" streaming argument, the idea of "getting to the next big thing" in sports broadcasting, was also a false dream. The real approaching monster is and has been that of Super Conferences. And this trend has been on the map for a decade. It has been as plain to see coming as sunrise in the east. That should have been the aggressive direction taken by the PAC's merry band of I-P's. Joining or developing one was the right move. And that's not said with "hindsight". Alas. I'm so glad that OBD are now saved by the Hobson's Choice of getting into one of the forward charging Super Conferences. It was probably quite difficult for the OU President and Board of Trustees to land on this last one and only best decision. Good work, folks. Yeah. That's it.
  14. This is really a good article. Many thanks, SRDuck. It speaks about what many of us have been saying for months ... or YEARS.
  15. So ... now we are on the cutting edge, not of streaming media college sports ... but of the dissolution of a century old Conference. As I've pondered previously, streaming never had a chance. Nor does it deserve one ... at least at this point in time. I hate the loss of this great conference, but the New World of collegiate sports will be dominated by super-conferences for the foreseeable future. GO DUCKS!
  16. It should all make us feel a bit less warm and fuzzy that two things will follow. 1: Larry Scott need never work again. Not including savings from his outrageous salary, he has that $5,600,000 in 2021 salary/severance (for 6 months "work") to warm his cockles in the night ... for the rest of his life. 2: The university presidents will wait just long enough in their current positions to then promote to a larger school for more money and prestige. (OR ... they could of course get into politics. After all, politics needs more hand sitters!)
  17. Is anyone else sick of this soap opera? The level of incompetence amongst the school and PAC administration is breathtaking. They make a LOT more money than most of us. But they aren't necessarily any brighter, it seems. We've learned from politicians that wisdom and intelligence aren't a prerequisite for high level positions. Signed, Grumpy O. Man
  18. Thanks for the posts, guys. It's great to be getting back to the game. I think we're all a little tired of the incessant noise about conference realignment affecting OBD.
  19. What a wonderful invitation. Many thanks, Charles. My health refuses to allow me to attend in the flesh. But my spirit will be there with you all. Stay safe, have fun, and GO DUCKS!
  20. I went to Cal, and not only am I not a Cal fan, but I also don't know anyone who attended Cal who are Cal fans ... or for that matter, anyone at all who is a Cal fan. I wonder how much this "research team" was paid. Hmmmm..............
  21. My comment comes from years of supervising hundreds of people in dozens of departments. Discipline comes from setting rules and boundaries and living by them. Everyone knows firmly what results to expect from their actions. Personal feelings (e.g. anger, fear) are mitigated this way. Dignity is upheld. On the other hand, humiliating someone who has violated rules/policies does not build teamwork or cause respect for the rule setter. I'm an old-old guy and I lived in the culture of discipline and respect. And it is from this culture that I still operate. Young people today seem to have a different take on discipline. That's fine. But in the world of work, any work including sports, they must be firmly alerted to barriers that must not be crossed or something they don't like will proceed. But also, humiliation has zero to do with generating respect or discipline. Fear is all that's likely to germinate. I don't know the circumstances that went into the Colorado incident. But it doesn't ring my bell as a good thing.
  22. For me the problem lies with the lack of recording options with no skipping some ads, FF or FR options, and limited selections (without paying for multiple services). And, of course, the cost will certainly be greater in the long run, as well ... especially with a la carte pay-per-view about to saturate the streaming world. Oh wait, I still have a vcr around here somewhere. What was I thinking?! I can record streamed shows, after all. New age meets old age. Who knew? Now, where is my wife's dust rag ..... ? More seriously, is it possible to record a Ducks game aired (aired?) on Google (without using a vcr)?
  23. I have been opposed to the PAC going to a streaming service. Let's face it. I'm old. Really old. And I won't venture into the dark night of streaming except screaming and hollering. So, if you hear a plaintive voice, screeching in the distance. It's me. It's called Streaming Screaming! I'm still a staunch advocate of satellite, and for good reasons. But yesterday I installed my first streaming device. (UGH.) A devil that goes by the name Roku dragged me by my heals into the New World. (Couple more UGHs.) Bless me Sat Daddy for I have sinned .............
