  1. This result can be expected with deep seat backups and non-scholarship players in a game. Still, what a fine offensive game for Couisnard! 39 pts!
  2. Kim, you're a wonderful gift to us all here on OBD. Keep on fighting and HEAL! My prayers go out to you and to your loved ones helping you in this battle. Come back to us, please. And soon.
  3. Given the enormous number of injuries and players lost for the season, I think the Ducks, AND DA, have done as well as could be expected. I was with some of you regarding the bad idea of the use of the "prevent offense" last night (and other nights). But I've come to change my mind. The lads worked really hard on the defensive side of the ball last night. That just might be the reason DA had them slow it down. The short-handed team was pretty gassed in the second half. Anyway, happily, another beaver dam crumbles and cascades down the McKenzie R.
  4. The lazy ball handling (read turnovers) drives me nuts. Surely Dana must school the guys better. I ... think. This team excels at times and looks foolish at others.
  5. Junior Adams Named PAC-12 Recruiter of the Year His selection is near the bottom of the article. Georgia assistant Tray Scott named Rivals Recruiter of the Year OREGON.RIVALS.COM Georgia assistant coach Tray Scott has been named the 2024 Rivals Recruiter of the Year.
  6. Tosh Lupoi was left with cracked rib following an Aydin Breland bear hug in November 247SPORTS.COM Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi claims 4-star DL signee Aydin Breland cracked one of his ribs after hugging him in the lead up to the team's game with USC in November.
  7. Hmmm ... I wonder if we have seen the end of college football undefeated seasons. Perhaps a rare outlier will exist. But (for a lot of reasons, e.g. injuries, season length, expanded competition, excess travel, etc.) these super-conferences are going to be mighty tough to wade through with zero losses ... and THEN there is the 12-team playoff. Hmmm ...
  8. Great Scot, John, I'm ready to abandon my Kool-aid for a giant bag of popcorn awaiting a GA-OR Final! GO DUCKDAWGS! (Or is that DAWGDUCKS?) Thanks for the fine article.
  9. Thanks for the fun read, Don. We now know a bit of what to look for next season. Will you be attending the Iowa game in IA? And cheering for the Ducks, I hope.
  10. After the U of A game, I'd like to harp once again on defense ... but I won't. I'll let Dan do it. Bill Oram: Oregon Ducks’ loss to Arizona leaves Dana Altman searching for answers on defense WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Any way you slice it, the Ducks missed a big opportunity on Saturday.
  11. Defense is a difference maker. When shots are not falling, and defense is less than robust ... it usually equals a loss. The reverse isn't always true. Witness the Utah/Colorado games. Stong defense is mostly technique and effort. In both games, the Ducks struggled to keep up with UT and COL guards. But the Ducks put both D and O on display last night. They don't always do that. An archetypical view of both sides of D and O comes from the Final 4 games in 2017. OBD crushed Kansas with strong defense and good shooting. Their defense kept them in the very next game with North Carolina, but their shooting was abysmal. NC was lucky to prevail 77-76. The D is THE thing in winning and consistency. And one last thing about last night's game. I couldn't believe my eyes. OBD made 15 of 16 FTs!! Dana must have put in some extra practice time. All in all, the Ducks played a marvelous game ... at least for 3/4s of it. Kudos to 'em. Hoping for more of the same tomorrow afternoon! GO DUCKS!
  12. As much as I dislike Spectrum, I have to say the feed for tonight's game was perfect.
  13. Jim Harbaugh returns to NFL: What Chargers hire means for Justin Herbert, Chiefs rivalry and more WWW.SPORTINGNEWS.COM With his mission complete at Michigan, Jim Harbaugh is back in the NFL, this time with the Chargers. The Sporting News' Bill Bender breaks down what fans can expect to see from Harbaugh in his... ...and maybe good for OBD recruiting!
  14. This really bugs me. OBD have shot a whopping 68% of their free throws this year. It's all about sustained practice and developing muscle memory. These guys are tremendous athletes who have attained amazing control over their bodies. So, I am left to consider that they just spend a lot of time doing things other than FT practice. 68% is pretty poor, honestly, and costs games. I hope Dana gets these guys into the gym 30 minutes early for ... yep, FT practice. Heck, I didn't make the Cal team in the early '60s and I shot 85%. Maybe Dana should call me up before I hit 80 years of age. However, I couldn't dunk then. And I still can't.

  17. Charles, best wishes always, but especially during a stressful relocation (as they all are). Changing one's life and habits after many decades is a challenge for the best of us. But it sounds like you have exactly the right attitude and emotions going forward with your divorce. ("Divorce" has been a four-letter word in the past for me. ) I don't know if you'll find sanity in these pages ... but we try! Anytime you need us, sir.
  18. A delightful read. Many thanks, Ryan. I am particularly fond of your last sentence. "As everyone knows, with age comes experience, and with experience comes better play on the football field." I shall be guided by this truth. Since I'm older than Burma Shave, I would make a terrific db!
  19. Interesting stat, Jon. Shall we call them The Seattle Squeakers? Close Canines? Hairless Huskies? Wacky Washington Winners? (Naw.) Okay, how about the Barely Beaters?
  20. Great, informative article. You sir are a mighty fine writer and pen with much humor. (I have 2 things to say about your humor. and ) And oh yeah, I'm sick of ESPN and the SEC. I have a feeling that next year's PO will still be rife with controversy ... just 4 times more so.
  21. It was clear to me that the Sniffers were quite average in all their games between their two Oregon wins. Penix was injured late in that first game ... possibly a broken rib or some upper side injury. He got healthy late in the season and now is on top of his game again. He is certainly a difference maker. I think Michigan has a superior team, but (and I said this here after his 3rd game ever with the Sniffers), Penix would be trouble for OBD and others. All that said, there will be a dawg pile at the end of the championship game, and it won't smell good for our buddies up I-5.
  22. Yep. ESPiN is biased and generally misses the point of accuracy that I almost didn't post the article. I did post it because in my mind, and regardless of their SEC bias, it displays high praise for a PAC-12-Gone team to have included players with higher ranking (to number 51) than any but Alabama.

  24. I'm just really irritated by folks who cannot take responsibility for their actions and instead blame others. Always look out for those that point fingers.........
  25. One who will NOT be portal-ing ... T. Johnson. Standout Oregon defensive back announces he will return in 2024, per report SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM A key Oregon safety will reportedly return in 2024.
