I was a fan of Cardwell. I'm still a fan of Byron. I was familiar with what he did for the Ducks last year. After 2 games I thought he should be the starter. I hope he gets healthy and gets back into the rotation. He will contribute again. I wasn't familiar with the new backs Bucky Irving and Noah Whittington. But now, WOW, I'm really impressed with both backs. Also equally impressed with the true freshman Jordan James. Bucky and Noah do everything a good running back should. They attack the hole quickly, have great vision, make quick cuts, slide steps, and spins, then finish with super aggression trying to punish tacklers. Hats off to Coach Locklyn for leading and developing the running backs. I think he's brought the SEC style of running to Oregon - A physical punishing attack. Go Ducks!

Our Offensive Line is Amazing...They Deserve More Credit

Give credit to Coach Klemm. Night and day from last year. Too many "ole" pass protections last year. -

Lanning Takes Ducks From Top-25 Beatdowns to Blowouts
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
"Lanning is also playing the entire two deep on the depth chart, and this is giving all players the game experience to develop. This short-term sacrifice by Lanning is creating quality depth that will pay off as the season progresses, and when the current non-starting, but experienced players move into a starting roles next year." Excellent observation DazeNconfused! Last night I rewatched the BYU game. I had the time to hear many backups make plays. That didn't click until reading your article this morning. I was also able to rewind and stop the action to note the different formations, count defenders, and see how brilliantly Dillingham is setting up the Offense to have advantages! Every staff member is an improvement in a short time. And because they all seem to be good teachers, improvement during the season will continue. -
The Oregon-Dillingham Offense: The New Arc Zone Read
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thanks Coach Boles! Good analysis and teaching. "The Arc Zone Read is a concept that has the ability to lend itself to a variety of wrinkles." And Coach Dillingham is showing a delightful ability to add spice to the Oregon offense. -
I do most of my shopping on Amazon Prime. Save a ton of gas money with free shipping! I watch a lot of movies and tv shows on Amazon and Netflix. I watched the Thursday night game Chargers and Chiefs on Amazon Prime Video. Picture and audio was perfect. Everything was as good as or better than my Xfinity cable network showing ESPN, or Fox, ABC, NBC. Amazon wants to dominate sports broadcasting for the western part of our country. Amazon has a lot of money ($456 B revenue per year). I would love to keep the Pac-12 conference together without teams traveling coast to coast. Call me a traditionalist.

Where was Noah Sewell? He was doing his job. Sometimes a player doesn't get a stat but their contribution is very important. Dorlus makes a great play, but watch Noah Sewell set the edge. He takes out the TE and Tackle double team causing the bottleneck to slow the pulling linemen and back allowing Dorlus to make the play! #6 Jahlil Florence (true freshman) was also there to help clean up. Good team defense.

Who is the BEST ASSISTANT Coach at Oregon Thus Far?
Smith72 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We the fans are the winners. The entire staff has contributed to major improvement in team performance this year. As to Coach Locklyn, the running back position is improved with quality depth. One small thing I noticed, but has major importance, is in game improvement. Irving had a great game! However, on his first big carry, he was swinging the ball down and away from his body. A fumble waiting to happen. I'm sure if I saw this then Coach Locklyn did too. The rest of the game (as much as I could tell from the TV), he was carrying the ball High and Tight. Better ball security! I'm so impressed that the entire staff is committed to teaching in practice, and teaching during the game. Nothing but positive relentless teaching! -
Irving, Whittington Demonstrate Oregon’s Backfield Depth
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Good recap of the rushing success for Oregon. Thank you Jordan! Irving and Whittington are really elusive strong runners. OBD are blessed to have a strong running back room. Equally impressive was Jordan James (true freshman) who came into game early to power thru for critical fourth down gains. In response to a question about Cardwell, Coach Lanning said he could have played but they wanted to protect him and allow him to recover. Such an improvement in coaching. Verdell was always overused to the point of getting injured. -
Coach Klemm is making an impact. I just finished watching the highlights of the game. No sacks. 212 yards rushing. Bo Nix's 2nd touchdown to Ferguson was a thing of beauty. 13 of 18 passing for 222 yards. Take time to watch the perfect pass protection by the O line. He had all day to make the pass to Ferguson. No sacks for third straight game! Great job Offensive Line!

Where Coach Lanning Feels the Team is, and Oregon's Identity
Smith72 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Dan Lanning: On the team’s identity… “We want to be the team that you don’t want to play again, we want to be the team that when you walk out onto the field you are sore and you’re feeling it, felt physical, we are relentless, and we just continue to nag at you. There were certainly some moments where I saw today where we showed that and there certainly were some moments where we could have finished, and we didn’t. So, looking for moments of growth but relentless is biggest word I would look to use.” Relentless - Growth - Challenge to be better. Tremendous teaching. Oregon's new DNA. -

I wish the Pac-12 would get better referees. Compared to other conferences they are failing! Manning had position on his man, and even had his eyes turned looking for the ball. Yet pass interference was called! Pass defenders should not be penalized for the refs lack of understanding modern football.

Crap. And I'm NOT Doing Analyses on Offense!
Smith72 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
"Hate the decision to throw a lateral with TT passing to Irving." That pass should not have been thrown at all. The corner on that side had a free pass on the ball. That play was a big loss from the get go. It seems that TT doesn't see the field well. -
Did You Hear All the SLAPS Out There After the Game?
Smith72 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I believe Our Oregon coaches are doing a fantastic job of teaching! Coach Lanning emphasis on getting better 1% every play in practice and during games is becoming part of this team's DNA! That's good teaching! -

Smith72 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Mr. FishDuck has told me several times, A first down at the end of the game is as good as a touchdown. So proud of the offense to take time off the clock and get several first downs on their last drive! -

The more I see Irving the more I like! Too bad Cardwell was out with injury. Great that we have a stocked running back room! Irving has good vision and quicks. I simply love his ability to change direction, shift laterally, and gain extra yards! Obviously he's worked on improving his hands catching passes since the Georgia game. All around, I think he's showing that he deserves the starting role. By the way, Jordan James is a stud. Showed some toughness in his carries the first half. Good showing for the true freshman! -

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and return to good health DNC! Hallelujah! Coach Lanning and Coach Dillingham have brought back the QB under center for a short yardage play. Wow! That is so much better than a pistol back 7 yards deep getting tackled for a 2 yard loss. So many options that a defense can't pack it in tight. In the formation shown they have to protect against a power sweep in either direction plus play action pass for instance. Great sense of humor. “...in the end Charles, you are just a petty little tyrant.” “I take offense to that, as I am NOT little!” Touche Charles, well done! -

Five Keys to Oregon’s Game Against BYU
Smith72 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thank you DazeNConfused! Your 5 keys to the game are critical. Your points are very descriptive. You said, "Lanning has implemented a plan to coach his players up and address those issues.". The key word in that quote was " up". Coach Dan Lanning is coaching his team. Positive teaching to help his players improve! Who wouldn't run through a wall for that kind of man.
