Oregon Loses Four-star Wide Receiver Commit
Not a big deal considering all the factors. Only concern, do we lose any of the current commits? The pass game is not so exciting right now, will the young QB's have better arms (accuracy, really) for longer downfield plays than what we see now? Sategna will bring that Jalen Waddle speed burner threat, and the kid that won the opening...wow. Clemons would be a nice in-state get and that kid can ball out. I think Moorhead can light it up if the QB can do it. We're getting there, a lot of the yards were YAC against Colorado, which is on the athletes, even if the throws were only near the line of scrimmage when caught, and that works too I guess

Crap! Oregon-WSU Game To Kick Off At 7:30 PM On ESPN
Sounds like a big trap for us...WSU coming off a bye. This 730 pm start now pushes this ahead of UT on the road as the likely game we'd lose. We seem to have problems with WSU. Our pass D sometimes seems leaky lately, and even without Leach and a Head Coach, WSU lit up ASU on the road. (A better balance of run pass than recent WSU but still...)

TEAR DOWN THAT STATUE!
As mentioned above, Miami's glory days are gone and probably not coming back. The days of corn fed hogs dominating the offensive line and running the wishbone are gone too. Oklahoma has kept it going, Nebraska...all I can think of is some Stephen King horror about the children of the Corn.

52-29? Just Like the “Good Ol’ Days!” And Time to Give Credit…
Oh I've noticed the decline of the pistol, thankfully. What a wacky weekend in the Pac. Prepping players is good with all the injuries. We could finish 4-0, 3-1, 2-2, 1-3, or even 0-4. We better bring it hard every single week! WSU and OSU will not be easy at home. The pooch mutts beat Turd on the road, something we could not do, and we play them on the road this week. Utah on the road? That will be tough. Get ready

Colorado Game-Score Prediction Contest!
Hope AB kicks butt and we're up 42-0 at the half so Ty and Butter get lots of reps
-
Colorado Game-Score Prediction Contest!
59-0, 4 takeaways, 6 sacks, 262 passing yards Ty and Jay both play a lot in the second half. We shut down their RB's and force throws, hence picks and sacks. We run plenty, so total rushing yards for us a lot, not so much passing although we'll do better than average. Landman out won't help the Puffaloes. Go Ducks!

Moorhead Must Remain in the Coaches’ Box
I'm just glad we haven't seen a lotta pistol the last 2 weeks. Any coincidence there?

Saturday Uniform Announced and I Gotta Admit...
I don't have a problem with black base or white base, and silver/chrome, but EVERY uniform (every sport) should have some kind of BOTH green and yellow. Green/White/Green on the road is great, put some yellow trim around the numerals or something. Also, why yellow/white/yellow on the road against USC? You know they will wear yellow pants. Make that week a green/white/green base. Home against Colorado? Why isn't this week Green/Yellow/Green, or Yellow/Green/yellow? Why not do the Black and green or Black and yellow against WSU or AZ? Utah and many teams have black combos too, but at least make an educated guess. I know they plan these things probably in the spring. Anyhow, it looks cool, those helmets are nice. I'm still craving ice cream after last weeks

Oregon Injury Update!
Yeah saw the Landman injury report, that's a huge blow for the Buffalo. If our D and their struggling O collide, will this be our first shutout of the year? Landman out, will this be the week we actually look like a top-8 team against a conference doormat? What I'm getting at is, will we actually win this 59-0? That is my hope and that's what I will predict this week. It could boil down to whether we play down to the level of competition again. I expect to see 3 QB's get playing time. Thompson or Butterfield should have played a lot more this season even if AB is the starter. They should have been in before the 2nd Quarter ended against Stoney Brook. They should have seen time against Arizona and Cal, those should have been 59-0 types of games. It's 10:13 and I just got my first coffee, sorry GO DUCKS

Oregon Injury Update!
It was a significant foot injury...should be full go next season, no word on spring, that I've heard

2021 Duck Football: The Most Entertaining Oregon Team EVER?
So...most entertaining Duck team??? Tell that to the poor wall socket in my living room that I've been keeping the defibrillator plugged into. The WR thing...can the young guys get better separation in man coverage than the 5th year senior starters? Would that help AB any? Less chance of a pick? Love those veteran guys, hardcore Duck dudes, but seems like at least a couple of the high 4 star WR's should develop quicker? Just an armchair defibrillator Duck pondering here...

2021 Duck Football: The Most Entertaining Oregon Team EVER?
Yeah it's amazing, I was right up a few rows on the south side at the 30, saw Dennis Dixon go down right in front of us, knew right then, it was over. He played at AZ the next week of course, but not for long. Heismann an Natty, literally, melted on the ACL of a single guy. KT is that kind of difference maker, the pressure, constantly on the QB last 6 quarters, makes our back 7 better. He should play the run or blitz every single down, just fake dropping into coverage maybe, but don't put KT into coverage.

Armchair Coaches?
We looked bad first quarter, then went on 34-3 run, and almost gave it away again. Clock management and some of the play calls, not so sure about. Turnovers and penalties almost undid us again. Thank goodness for the take-aways. What's up with Miami's uniforms, did they lose a bet in the loss to Syracuse?? We will be #8 this week, will we beat Colorado at home 63-0 like a top 8 team should?

Mid-Season Prediction Contest: How Does Oregon Finish? (Contest Closes Saturday Morning!)
9-4, 31.2 offense, 26.7 defense. Don't win north, win low-level bowl like Lipps Leather Bondage Bowl or something equally stupid, over Ball State or East Kentucky Landscape College

UCLA Game Prediction Contest (Closes at Game-Time)
Tried that on Stanford game, ended up winning the contest...hopefully I'm wrong this week
-
UCLA Game Prediction Contest (Closes at Game-Time)
sUCLA wins, 42-24. 0 Take-Aways, 1 Sack, 186 passing yards.

Ducks Must Rely on Defense
First off, if Dennis Dixon doesn't get hurt in 2007, we probably would have a natty. QB play was critical, we rolled through 4 other QB's and Justin Roper finally gelled with enough time to prepare for a meaningless bowl game blow out of an over-rated UCF. A couple games in he gave way to a JC Transfer by the name of laptop thief, errrr, Masoli. There were some bigtime RB's (Stewart, Johnson) and receivers, Tight Ends, and O-linemen on that team, and some stars on D too. Overall recruiting stars were not even close to what we have now though, but coached up to an elite D1 level. I've been saying it for weeks now, the box score numbers are not impressive (look at total yards given up to Cal, AZ) but the D has been keeping us in these games. We DO have some elite talent, except maybe the interior D-line positions, the one place tOSU, Bama, Oklahomie, Clemson, etc. seem to get. They also get the playoff spots...just saying. Take-aways are key. We've only throw 2 picks all year, and until last Saturday, maybe 1 fumble lost? What did we add, 2 more? And no take-aways. Winning the take-away/give-away ratio will play into our success to close out the second half of this season. Get back to what we did to have a couple picks and a fumble forced and recovered, and don't cough it up, and it just gives the prevent offense that many more chances to actually score. Last time I checked, winning required you to score more points than your opponent. And no, we ain't Georgia-D.

Cristobal will be Out-Coached by Chip
I think he will don the booboo bear hat, and no more than 1 of the other guys picks us, if any. And we prove them all wrong I hope. MC will be out coached...I'll happily eat bear if I'm proven wrong. Crow is too greasy

Some Positive Observations from Last Night...
Yep...no pistol. Announcers were annoying, but the guy was spot on a lot, like it or not
-
The Other Games Thread
Horrid calls by Crap 12 refs in both the sUCLA game and ASU/UT. Not sure what to expect against the booboo bears next week either... Lincoln Riley benched pre-season #1 Heismann odds QB Spencer Rattler for the true freshman kid...who threw 4 TDs and ran for 1...just sayin Purple pooch mutts lost 🤣

Cal GameDay Thread: A 2021 Crossroads Game?
Actually in a weird way I almost hoped we lost...MC now will think he's a good game manager and the offense works, and AB based on his TD throw, and run, is a the best choice at QB. How bad will we lose to sUCLA next week?
-
Cal GameDay Thread: A 2021 Crossroads Game?
I don't think MC can get us a natty, recruiting is great but no use of talent. Recruits are going to start noticing. AB can't freaking throw. Hand off up the middle again...or, D saw it coming,, Dye gains 1 yd. Penalties, no discipline. No offensive creativity or identity. Out coached.
-
Cal Game Prediction Contest!
Oregon wins, 35-24. 2, 3, 228. A crossroads game indeed, unfortunately it will be another where you don't really feel like it's in the bag until later in the 4th quarter. This should be 59-0 if the team that beat tOSU shows up. Alas, too predictable, no offensive identity, soft coverage will allow Garbers some life.

Cristobal Coaching: Should Oregon Continue to be “Tougher” or Play Smarter?
The last couple Saturdays, I realized I was having more fun watching games like Alabama-Texas A&M, Oklahoma-Texas, even watching ASU pound Stanford...and the contrast in offenses. Oregon's old school attempt at smash-mouth football under MC has failed miserable. Not quite as physical and beefy may have been the difference against Auburn in 2010, or tOSU in 2014. In 2010 though, Chip's stubbornness may have been the difference...the 1st and goal at the 1 that went backwards for 3 plays? The safety? Is MC just too stubborn? Even Alabama now uses up-tempo and spread. I enjoyed those other games because of the diversity of play calling these teams used, as another commenter just stated, "we don't have speed and it shows." And in today's games, speed is needed to win, look at Alabama today vs. 10 years ago when Saban was whining that a rule should be made slow the game down (because of OREGON!!!). Alabama, Clemson (except this year) Oklahoma, tOSU...the perennial playoff teams and national champions (look at what Ed Orgeron did when he had the talent for one season!) have creative and diverse offenses. Great article.

The 2021 Ducks are Hard to Predict
I think they could go 10-2 and win the north, but lose to ASU, 10-3 Holiday Bowl? Or, 9-3, don't win the north, end up in the Pfizer Stick 'Em With Your Best Shot Bowl in Gary, Indiana and lose to Ball State.
