  1. Thank you...why all these pundits that get paid to put crap out there...let's just wait and see first. And not Chip, please!
  2. Couldn't agree more, and other comments here sum it up. Can't recruit, won't recruit, everyone has caught up to the spread. No advantage. Can't believe all the CHIP stuff I'm seeing out there, must be nostalgia. Nostalgia won't win. 7-5 to 5-7 to 4-8 is what we'd see. No thanks
  3. If we don't lose too many, there is a ton of talent. A good recruiter can keep it going, fix some losses with transfers. But most of all...get someone who can coach, not just recruit. Develop talent, it's not automatic just because some service gave you 5 stars. MC and staff didn't seem to do that.
  4. Defenses have figured out the spread. Not the same splash it once was. Chip needed 4 years to get sUCLA to a bowl, in the fertile recruiting grounds of SoCal. Please, no...
  5. I thought about Wilcox, and a great OC...but could he an Musgrave kill it in recruiting?
  6. We DO want someone that can compete in SoCal, Texas, and other places. MC did that, Florida and SEC country too. But, more importantly we need someone who can coach them up, and his staff. He'll be at FIU in 4 years
  7. If he keeps a lot of this staff, Miami will go 10-3 at best, even though he will load up on high 4 star and 5 star Florida talent. You gotta coach them up. Hasn't happened in 4 years at Oregon. Game management helps too. He'll be at FIU in 4 years
  8. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt there, but it's just added incentive
  9. Read that Cristobal will hire Diaz as DC. Guy was a great DC before the HC gig. Maybe Diaz would come to Eugene as a DC, but who do we get as HC?
  10. Venables to OK and bringing Lebby. OK may get a title yet just not with Riley. Would have been a good pair but Kerby played at OK and Venables is one who could take OK into the SEC and recruit...and win. Fickell...kind of a bummer now he's in the playoff, lots of teams probably interested but too close to signing day. MC can go and please do take all the assistants, our recruiting is great but little player development that I've seen, need better coaches
  11. Gitta have a QB who can throw better...
  12. I think the offer to MC came after it was already a done deal for Moorhead to Akron. It was a response to Miami speculation. MC stays, he needs sla good OC, and needs to let whoever he is have the reigns
  13. As several mention above, while recruiting is mega, X and O is too. But 3 straight classes of best in Oregon history, and 10 win seasons feel like they are from talent alone. It's MCs ceiling without better player development. I question his whole staff. Bellotti and then Chip (who retained most of the assistants, and Helf too) thrived on developing 3 stars, getting a 4 star was a big deal then. We played for 2 natty's. Scheme was electric. Defenses have figured out the spread now but the big teams have 45 ppg somehow. Physical, yes, but the MC idea of "pound it out is what we do" just doesn't do it
  14. Had the same thought. Ty has only played in 3 I've read? Doesn't burn the redshirt to bowl with Ty. Butterfield same. Abd...do we contact Rattler about winter term in Eugene starting in about 4 weeks? A lot of true freshman QBs going off accross college football...if that rating is legit at the D1 level
  15. My first question too...
  16. Sir Charles, I think the term "turnovers Oregon creates" vs. "take-aways" is confusing. I think most are saying "turnovers" in terms of opponent, but some entries suggest maybe they are thinking "Ducks turnovers" vs. opponents turnovers ("Duck take-away") or maybe I've been sitting in front of my computer too long this week
  17. Ducks Win! 38-24 with 4 take-aways (no turnovers!) 4 sacks, 242 passing yards. Ewetes lose ba-aa-aa-aad!
  18. Not sure, didn't they smoke it all officer?
  19. Hire Cale Gundy, bring in Rattler?
  20. Talent is great, we need to coach them up. Bellotti and Chip eras, we thrived with only a handful of 4 stars, and a rare 5 star. USC had years there with top recruiting classes year after year and went 5-7. To win it all we need top recruiting, but in-game coaching and player development long term are just as crucial?
  21. Tedford was a QB guru, which is what Lincoln Riley is...but not sure how much the game has changed? Riley has a history of taking either transfers or true freshmen and turning them in to Heismann winners, or contenders
  22. Maybe a new topic, but I'll be curious to see where USuC's recruiting class will be in 3 weeks, right now they have only 7 (?) commits, lost their one 5-star? Will 5-stars at QB, RB, WR, and some high 4's and even 5's on the D, and O-line shoot them up equal to us by signing day? I will be very curious indeed....
  23. MC needs a QB guru now, and better grow as a coach, quick. My couch saw that onside kick coming yesterday, that's poor coaching. We can't close teams out, all year. I hope we beat Utah of course, but recruiting CA just got harder, and what WR wants to go to Oregon? It's good for the Pac, just hope the playoff goes thru the north not the south. That is, if we can not LOSE 1 or 2 gimme games a year.
  24. I guess he's not going back to Sheattle
  25. I'm sitting in Sky Harbour drinking a lot of 4 Peaks IPAs and it's 77 degrees in Phoenix but I'm stuck inside waiting for my flight to Redmond and I can't get the apple cup but I watched a lotta CO/UT on the plane from DFW and CO played UT tougher than us in SLC...what does that mean? We beat CO 52-29 but not the Utes...do we have a chance in Vegas? Oh wait, we gotta beat the semi-floating goof-toothed bark rats tomorrow first. PLEASE DUCKS win tomorrow
