Lanning on Recruiting: "We Will Be Aggressive."
Oregon is a hard recruit for having a shorter tradition (sometimes called being a blue blood) than some others and because of geography for some. Yes, it's a long, long way from Alabama/Georgia... or Southeastern Virginia where I grew up to Eugene. But those of you who are so lucky to live in Eugene, look around you. Look at how beautiful it is, think of all the great people, the spirit of freedom and innovation. Who wouldn't want to live there? I would take Eugene over Tuscaloosa every day of the week! Not that Tuscaloosa's a bad place, but Eugene, wow! Add to that the University, the facilities, the coaching staff and there is a lot to attract players to UO!

Mario Got His OC
Gattis will be a great hire for this season. I don't suspect he will be there long. He has already been considered for some pretty good head coaching positions.

Ducks Need Bigger Defensive Lineman? How 'bout this Guy?
Could be our coaches know something others don't. His other offers are Ball St. Arkansas St. and Texas St. and he's not rated on 247. But he is 6'3" and 380 and you can't teach that. Does he have good hands and footwork, position quickness, good work ethic, are thy looking for him to play at 320 and be much quicker and faster? I have no idea. If the coaches want him, they know a lot more than I do.

DC Tosh Throws Hilarious Shade at Riley
Yeah, listening to SC folks you'd think Riley had already won a NC. I keep thinking, the guy couldn't win one at Oklahoma, is USC more of a blue blood than OK? I don't think so. USC still has a long way to go to catch up with Oregon. Oregon hiring Dan Lanning is not going to make that an easy task either.

THE Most Important Two Hours as a Duck Fan...a MUST!
Coach Lanning said they went for the best of the best and he got them. This is exciting! Thanks for posting this. Watch it, find the time. I had four half hour periods to do it. Glad I did. I echo the excitement about coach Dillingham too. I want guys that make plays and we will put them in position to make plays. Going for 80 plays a game! Yes!
-
Dillingham's Offense: "A System for Playmakers"
Yes, then the other teams offense comes on the field feeling the pressure to score themselves. They make mistakes, ends u a three and out or turnover and our guys come back out and do it all again! Excited!

Caleb Williams Commits to USC
I hope that a strong USC helps the whole conference. Will it be tougher to get some recruits to leave Cali. Probably, but Oregon has the best facilities in the NCAA, great fan support and a staff filled with great recruiters. Oregon should still do well recruiting and now (with some thanks to MC) has a national profile. With Utah now a power in the conference, even OSU and others improving, I don't think it's going to be USC and everybody else trying to catch up any time soon. And won't it be sweet to beat USC when they are good!

Caleb Williams Commits to USC
Dang, then he should have gone to Oregon for the Tillamook.

Florence wants to "See the Love," Duck Fans.
Come on, this kid (yes, what 17) is acting like I did when I was , what 17! Cut him some slack. Everyone has been telling him how great the Oregon fans are and how much love he will get from them and he wants to see for himself. I hope he hasn't been reading this thread or USC here we come.

Florence wants to "See the Love," Duck Fans.
Didn't see Jahlil there, but watching the game on TV and they had Coach Lanning on for a few minutes. Great to see him there, getting involved on campus. I'm more impressed with him all the time. And show Jahlil a little love to. Had a friend whose daughter was a highly rated recruit a few years ago. It's a harder process on the recruit than some of us realize. Hope he's enjoying the game.

What if it Ends up Working Out for Mario at Miami?
I don't think it's impossible for him to accomplish getting to the playoffs at Miami, but Miami is a mess right now and it's going to take some time. Oregon is way ahead of Miami at this point. The portal might make it easier to get experienced players quickly, but changing a culture takes time. Being in the ACC could help, if he can get the kind of talent he brought to Oregon. Then he may be able to pull off an undefeated or one loss season, an upset of Clemson maybe and make it. But even that is a long shot for a while.

OL from Hawaii Commits to Oregon
A quick look at the top 5 recruiting classes of 2022 according to ESPN (not my favorite, but easy to access). There were a total of 21 3* recruits, only Alabama had none. A & M #1 class has 4 and Georgia #3 class has 8. This guy looks super athletic for his size. I think we have coaches that can work with that.

Oregon Could Have BEST ILB Pairing in College Football?
ESPN has pretty much been ticked off with anyone not in the SEC for a while now. So yes. And don't sell Wake Forest short. They are doing a lot of things right on the football side of things in identifying potential talent and developing it. They don't get many 4 or 5 * guys, but they put up a lot of point with those no and 3* guys. I was actually hoping Oregon would give a look at Warren Ruggiero, their OC. If he could do what he did with the level of talent at Wake Forest, what could he do with the talent at Oregon? I'm happy with our OC though.

Caleb Williams to Wisconsin? Yes, it Could Happen.
That would be interesting, I think it would make Wisconsin an instant contender for the B1G championship and national playoffs. They are always tough on the defensive side and usually have a great running game, Williams could kick up the offense to give them the missing part they need. I think it's an outside shot, but as coach Lanning says, it's about relationships and the relationships are sure there.

You're the Coach...Your Decision?
Not in any particular order: Jake Broussard has proven to be all conference level player. Arlis Broadingham, I love the video I've seen of him. Jahil Florence we need defensive backs Dave Iuli (though about a toss up between him and Michael Connelly, if we get 6 schollies I take both) Christian Miller is going to be really good.

Rivals Predicts Two Massive Commitments for Oregon Ducks Football
Sure is a hopeful sign, but yeah, I would like to see signatures on letters of intent. But wouldn't this be a great start for recruiting for the Lanning staff! Hope Rivals is right.

Travis Dye OUT: Who Earns the Job?
I think we have plenty of talent left at running back, though more depth will be good. Yeah, Cardwell seems obvious, but let's see what Spring brings, and who might be coming through the transfer portal. As to Dye going to USC rather than the NFL, maybe USC is paying better. Just kidding. I'm a little puzzled with this. I think riley will have a lot of success at USC, but next years they are not loaded on the offensive line and Riley has earned a reputation for flinging the ball around and not so much grinding it out. I love Dye and don't begrudge him doing what he feels is best for him, but he just might have transferred himself into several less carries per game than he would be looking at for Oregon and maybe a few less holes to run through. My best to him though. He gave his heart and soul to Oregon and no one runs with more heart than Travis Dye.

The Best Head Coach?
Being under a great coach or coaches doesn't always translate into being one yourself. We have yet to see with Lanning, but he seems to bring with him a lot of the qualities we are looking for in a total package coach. It may take him some time to figure a few things out, but i think he has good chance to be that total package coach. Exciting times!

USC Back on Top Much Sooner Than Thought?
SC will definitely be better with Riley, how much better? Let's see the product on the field. While Riley got to the playoffs he didn't do very well when he got there at OK. Is SC more of a blue blood than OK? Well at least not recently. Sure it will help get a playoff bid if Oregon and SC meet for the conference championship undefeated. But if that means less players available for other teams in the conference because SC is skimming the cream off of the top, maybe not so good for the conference as a whole or Oregon for that matter. The question is can Oregon maintain its recruiting success in California against increased competition with SC and can some other programs improve to the point of being competitive with Oregon, SC and to some extent Utah. I'm not sure the rising of SC is a rising tide that will lift all boats. Interesting times coming. I like the position Oregon is in.

Former Player Confirms Mario Cristobal Meddling in the Offense
I admit, I hadn't be keeping up with the inner workings of the coaching staff, just the results on the field. I guess this is why it didn't matter if there was a change in OC. The OC was only there to manage MC's boring offense. Got it!

Duck Fans: Oregon's Success was BOUGHT by Phil Knight
Yeah, Oregon has a really wealthy guy give a lot of money. So do lots of other schools. The question is what do you do with it? Oregon has used a creative, innovative spirit to improve steadily in all sports, from track and field to football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball... it goes on. You can have a bunch of money given and screw up how you use it. Oregon has used it to get better and better. BTW, this is coming from a non-Oregon alumni who just recognizes when someone is doing things the right way and appreciates it.

Good Gosh--Look at the SPEED of Justius Lowe!
There is track fast and football fast sometimes too. Put the pads on some track guys and they lose a lot of speed. Having a quick burst of speed is often more important in football. This guy was running even with guys and then suddenly running a way from them like they were standing still. His football speed looks great.

OL from Hawaii Commits to Oregon
Yeah, recently it seems there have been some holes in the 247/Rivals type service. The bias seems to be skewed toward the big "football factory" schools (not too many of those in Hawaii) and if you don't go to one of those you often don't even get evaluated. Kid at the high school I went to in VA just ran for 290 yards in the state championship game, was all state, voted player of the year in Hampton Roads area (2 million metro area) and a search of his name in 247 comes up blank. Been watching him for 3 years now, definite D1 talent. Goes to a public school, not a football factory, but really good program with great coaching. I know the recruiting services do a pretty good job at what they do, but sometimes I think they take short cuts and miss some guys. In this case maybe a whole state.

So Long Sir Mells?
He later tweeted, "Duck Family, I'm still here!" I don't think he's going anywhere.

What's your Favorite Football Movie?
Remember the Titans, for me. When I was substitute teaching several years ago the teachers would often leave a video to watch. Remember the Titans was the most popular, it held the students attention and had a little "educational" value. I must have seen it 25+ times and it actually never got old. I also remember that T. C. Williams team. Down in Southeastern VA we kept hearing rumors of this team in Northern VA that had a separate 11 guys not just for offense and defense but all the different special teams. BTW, unlike how the movie depicts it, that team had no close games. From game one to the state championship they slaughtered everyone. I think their closest score was 38-17.
