  1. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Paul Finebaum (if he did, indeed, say that) is probably wrong. The only thing that I could see dislodging Nick from Alabama (besides a losing season) is if he finally has had enough of the pressure-cooking of coaching. We can only imagine what it must be like heading a program like Alabama with all the pressures are brought to bear against the HC.
  2. Pac-12 refs are (lamentably) infamous for their sometimes ... let's just say "questionable" play calling but there's also the effect that the crowds can have on the officiating. It's sometimes pretty difficult to block out all that cheering for and against a visiting team and not let it affect the way you "see" the game. Bottom line: officiating is a tough (and thankless) thing at any level of competition, much less the collegiate one in front of 47,000 very vocal and partial fans. I'm just happy the Ducks came out of that hot oven as the winner and can move on.
  3. I doubt it's Deion doing it. He's too busy being interviewed and coaching. But, he could be behind it, given the comment from Lanning earlier about his team.
  4. On the play where Bassa got his pick 6, Brandon Dorlus was just amazing how he got thru the line and nearly sacked Shough, forcing the bad throw. I can almost see Shough now, sitting on the bench wondering how in the h___ did that just happen? He didn't have a chance on that play. If the D-line continues to play like this, let alone improve, they're gonna be a real force. We'll get another good look at them against an explosive Colorado team with their shifty QB. THAT game will be a real good marker of how well the D is beginning to come together, methinks. Meanwhile: Go Oregon - Beat Hawaii!
  5. He'd better. He was the lone holdout on College Game Day to pick TT as the winner of the game. He's trying to save face. Incidentally, I heard this morning Bo Nix was named Pac-12 Player of the Week.
  6. KPNW radio aired an interview with one of the players on that team a few years back and it was one for the ages. Occasionally, they'll replay it usually around the anniversary of the attack. Many of the players enlisted in the military immediately after and served during the war. A few even came back to the University to finish their education afterwards. It's a reminder to us that some things are bigger than even collegiate football.
  7. Something sounds awfully fishy to me about all this. Perhaps a Colorado fan hoping to add to the chaos prior to the game on the 23rd?
  8. Yes, thank you Coack Boles. I really enjoy your concise breakdowns. You make them simple enough for everyone like me to understand.
  9. Phil could probably afford to buy the whole island. Or a least a nice-sized portion of it.
  10. This is the 1st good thing to happen for Oregon coming out of Boulder, Co. Prime-time airing on a major network channel. Finally.
  11. This article above by Eric Boles from Fishduck is the reason this site is better than any other wanna-be site out there and the one everyone who wants to learn more about how things work (or don't) need to read. Thanks Charles!
  12. Now that's a metaphor (!) we can sink our teeth into, er... maybe not.... do people eat them things?
  13. Oregon is probably stuck at 13 for another 2 weeks unless someone above them suffers a major defeat next Saturday. And then only if the defeat isn't to another top 10 team. Playing Hawaii isn't going to get the pollsters any appreciation but it is what it is. GO OREGON
  14. Welcome MindGames. I hope you will enjoy the post. I don't think I can comment accurately on this, but we have analysts on this blog, including Charles Fischer who can. I hope you get the answers to your question, because it's a good one.
  15. But, don't penalties come down to coaching as well? Remember why our D.C. was fired twice before this from two different programs. But I won't belabor the point. Instead, I'll continue to think positive for now because I don't think our D.C. is going anywhere soon. GO OREGON!
  16. I'll 2nd that!
  17. As you can see from my post just above this one I agree with you 100%. It's a roll of the dice for Oregon and Bo Nix. But, I think it should be his call.
  18. I didn't, unfortunately, get to watch the game Live, but it's kinda what's been said by a few on the blog here. I don't know but if I had to hazard a guess it might be to persevere Bo's health and his chances at the Heisman. The problem with that as I see it, (besides running the risk of losing games) is the Heisman itself if Bo doesn't get a free rein to run. It's what's made him a legitimate candidate in the 1st place, imo.
  19. Me too. Did TV show him hoisting up the "Big Play Scepter" ? Annie & I were discussing in an earlier post (before this game) that I prefer to see the TD scored rather than rely of a FG. Now, Oregon didn't need to score as you pointed out but Utah did to beat Baylor when the Ute's RB tried to avoid scoring the TD (so as not to leave any time on the clock) before he was knocked into the end zone by the defender. In that case, the FG was either going to win the game or lose it, depending on its outcome, for Utah. I like taking the sure TD because I've see way too many missed or blocked FG's esp in away game environments. Very happy for Bassa and I bet the rest of the team is as well even if it left crucial seconds on the clock.
  20. ...well, there's that too...lol
  21. I'm guessing they're trying to protect Nix and get him thru the season without another injury. But there may be no other way to win the games coming up without him running the ball.
  22. Much the pity. Whomever thought up the grand plan to breakup what as shaping up to be the best conference in the CFB wasn't working for the betterment of CFB, imo.
  23. Very clever Don Juan.
  24. Fair enough.
  25. But Bassa does the trained thing to do and takes the knee after his int (which I'm personally glad he didn't) then we don't beat the spread and we escape by the skin on a linebacker's knee.
