Oregon Ducks Football: 5 Keys to Beating Colorado
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I wish I had a better feel for this game but I do not. I thought I did when the Ducks played TT and that went out the window when Tyler Shough went off of the defense like he did. Oregon showed the resiliency needed to comeback strong and win a game I thought they would win going away. For that reason and because Colorado can be explosive (if inconsistent) I'm sitting this one on the sidelines. I think the biggest key of the game will be Dorlus & company getting pressure on Shaduer and containing him on the corners. Then some turnovers may happen. On offense, the Ducks need to run the ball a heck of a lot better than they did against Hawaii. I think they will and if they do, Nix might have a Heisman day. GO DUCKS -
What a weekend for any recruits to come to town! This could be one of the (if not THE) most watched matchup of the weekend, certainly of the time slot it's in. I hope the Ducks do something really special.

It will be really interesting to see how things shakeout after this next game. Two over-matched teams and two high-scoring Power-5 teams, one on the road, one at home. I should think that will give a good sampling and a real good idea where the strengths and weaknesses are going forward with conference play. GO DUCKS

MARK Wasikowski, not Mike. Charles caught me on that one. On the radio is sounded like Mike and I should have checked the Baseball roster on GoDucks. I think I might have spelled it both ways in different posts.
-
Yep, according to Mike Wasakowski he graduated from South Eugene, finished his Bachelors degree in 3 years and is now working on his Masters. Smart and physically gifted, the best kind of athlete.
-
I believe you meant to type Daewood Davis. Good ol spell check (of course, when on the bench, maybe he was deadwood). About your point, I don't know if that was Cristobal's 'MO' so-to-speak, sitting good players because he thought they had a bad practice, but if it was it was a silly one. If he does it in Miami it's be just as wrong then, too.

Lee Corso Just Netted His 400th Headgear Pick.

Except for one small detail: the shades . Remember how viral that whole thing between the two coaches went last week. This week it's an entirely different scenario with both coaches expressing mutual respect. But I expect you're right at least about the ratings being even higher. Better time slot and the interest in Oregon. 15 million might be a tough call, tho. We'll see! -
Positive Article on Deion Sanders from the Wall Street Journal
Mic replied to Santa Rosa Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It was the right thing for him to say and it make me wonder if a cooler head with influence with Coach has his ear and brought him around? If so, good. If it was Coach himself, even better. Let's get down to football and leave the nonsense behind. I respect Deion a little more for this. -
Bryce underscores the importance of offering opportunities for motivated and talented athletes to 'walk-on' and try out for the team rather than limiting tryouts to recruiter-sponsored athletes and agents recommendations. Now, in the case of Bryce, his baseball coach recommended him to Dan Lanning and out of respect for Mike, Dan let Bryce tryout. It took less than one full workout for Dan to see his potential (from what Coach Wasakowski reported in the interview). But it wasn't a recruiter or a professional talent scout or agent. It was a colleague of Dan's who saw his potential and was willing to "share" him with the football program.

Very likely CGD might have come out to Eugene had they not been in Boulder last week. Regarding ND & OSU, I gotta grit the ol teeth and pull for the Irish - about the only time, except sometimes when they play the Trojans. U might be right about the ratings, tho. -
Never thought I'd ever pull for Notre Dame but as College Game Day heads to South Bend, In this weekend I'm gritting my teeth and pulling for the Irish to beat the Buckeyes (-7.5). I don't expect it - but it could help Oregon move upward, perhaps, after the Ducks dismantle the Buffalos this Saturday. What's their chances? GO DUCKS!

Colorado is the New Hotness and That’s Just Fine
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If the Ducks don't lose their head and get caught up in all the hype, if they play under control and execute the offense and defense as coached and schemed they should win this game in a convincing fashion. I expect they will but one never knows until the coin is tossed and the last whistle blown. GO DUCKS. -
Sanders and Lanning Have a Lot of Respect for Each Other
Mic replied to CountryProf's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is more like it... enough of the trash talking and more of the mutual respect for one another. Perhaps things have cooled down some. GO DUCKS! -
Heard about them on KPNW. Saw the video on YouTube. Probably make Nike $ millions more. I hope they make the Ducks even more competitive 'cause that's the most important aspect of them. Do they increase player performance and University prestige.
-
Yep. I heard this on Fox radio news this morning. Predictable in these sad times we live in. I wonder how soon it'll be before we hear the young man's been "removed" from the team? I hope not.

What's the old media saying? With publicity comes the good and the bad but all publicity is 'good'. It's been 'good' for Colorado, that's for sure. -
Two good questions.
-
Yep, he's already working on his Masters. But he should have 4 years of eligibility as a footballer - if he doesn't get picked up in the draft first
-
It's a shame he's out - for several reasons - but I think Oregon beats CSU with or without him. Would have been fun to see how the Ducks played against him. We should never be happy to see a key player (or players) out for a game just so we can win it, tho I know we sometimes are. But not because of a cheap, late hit. I heard on FOX radio this morning the CSU kid who hit Hunter is receiving death threats. Two wrongs never make a right.

KPNW radio is running an interview with the University's Baseball coach Mark Wasikowski and during the session they talked briefly about Bryce and how he came to play for Coach Lanning. Some interesting facts: South Eugene HS, 3-yr grad at UO, (!) plays center field for the Ducks and now middle linebacker for the Ducks too. We've all seen the impact he's had on the field already. Fumble recovery, drilling tackle of the Rainbow Warrior's punt returner and solid in the middle as LB'er. Don't we just love these local 'kids' (young men) who grow up here in Eugene and essentially 'walk-on'? GO DUCKS

I'd have liked to see him stay a little longer too. But ASU was his Alma Mater and it may have been his "dream" job just like Mario's.

Wow. Coach Dilly is really faced with a tough situation. Reminds us how much depends on things outside the control of the coaches in regard to the entire team. We should be so thankful that O's season so far has been a pretty healthy one so far. I hope the Sun Devils get healthy soon and we can see what our former O.C. can get done at his old school. Good luck, coach.
