Let me take you back to the '96 Cotton Bowl. Ducks vs Colorado. Bellotti vs Neuheisel and why we learned to truely hate the "The Weasel". New Years eve at the pep rally the weather was beautiful. Warm T shirt weather. The bands played, ralley squad and fans cheered. New Years day and game time arrived. It was cold and rainy. The temperature must have dropped 50 degrees overnight. Two more degrees and I swear it would have snowed. The Cotton Bowl is on the State Fair grounds.It is an older stadium with an upper deck on one side. Our seats were out in the open on the lower deck of that side. The crowd was sparse and we eventually migrated to the upper rows under the overhang. It did not make the game more pleasant. The Ducks did not play their best game. There were stories that Graziani was seen out late at night partying. Late in the fourth quarter the score was 32-6 Buffs. Weasel had put in his backup QB. They stalled near midfield and sent in the punter. The hike was high causing the punter to leap up to catch it. He passed over the middle to a waiting reciever. Easy first down. Oregon fans were vocal and indignant that the Weasel would pull such a stunt when they had the game well in hand. To increase our joy of hate "The Weasel" became a leg lifting, butt sniffing Husky. Is it possible to distain a Pac 12 coach any more? I believe in karma. What goes round comes round. Payback is a beiotch. We can find joy in a fake punt.

We are 28 yr season ticket holders and will be at the madhouse that they call Autzen. It will be rockin' Saturday. I don't mind home games being on the Pac 2 Network because I'll be there. I get miffed about away games being on the Pac because we don't get it.

I've thought for several years that they need to mic up the Harley. It's scientific fact that a rythmic, throbing Harley is more pleasing than a screeching chainsaw. We've got a great sound system, make that Harley rumble and roar at highest volume. What happened to "I Love My Ducks"? I liked the video and I've still got the t shirt. I wore it last week to the game as a matter of fact. I love "Shout",(Time to up date the Athletes and Celebrities dancing) and "I'm Coming Home". I get emotional in my throat every time the chorus comes up. It's great that Autzen finally got it's Duck statue on a bench that makes a good photo op. Now we need an oversize. intimidating, fierce "Fighting Duck" overlooking the visitors locker room.

I'll show my respect for the OOC lesser division teams that show up for a payday, except maybe Eastern Washington. I'll even quietly applaud our little brothers up the road. We are all Oregonians and I have two grandsons that went there. Applause for Chip Kelly, lots of good memories there, but not his team. I save my Boos for the refs.

Zoom out on googlemaps and look at all the unused real estate that the city is sitting on and has done nothing with in the last half century. The eastern half of Alton Baker Park. Lots of room for parking. For better access, build a new bridge across the river to Franklin Blvd and the freeway. To maximize the investment build the Ems new baseball stadium. Uncle Phil has done a lot for higher education, time to invest in K thru 12 and build a new Science Center. The Beach Vollyball team needs a facility. What better than a beach on the river. I envision a new Parkway looping Leo Harris to connect the new bridge. Expand the shelter and picnic areas for year round use. Eugene and Springfield has mostly underutilized their river frontage and it appears Eugene is caving in to developers and turning the River Front park at the EWEB property into a housing devlopment.

We just got home from a trip that started five hours after the midnight, freezing Utah game with a flight to New Orleans. Rented a car and looped SEC country to bring our total of states visited to 49. The wife wonders why we don't play in Hawaii. We had friends in San Diego and went to two previous Holiday Bowls. Had a great time and even visited Tijuana and Rosarita Beach when it was safer to do so. I will always picture Joey bumbleing, stumbling, recieving a touchdown catch. No longer having friends there, we will snuggle next to the fireplace and watch and root in the comfort of our livingroom.

The house will be arockin'. It was loud last Sat. I was surprised that it only bothered the Fuskies on a couple of plays in the first half. I would have preferred an early kickoff because we are flying out of EUG at 5:00am. An hour to get home after the game and an hour to get to the airport. I think we are going to packup before the game and go straight to the airport after the game. Maybe we can snooze in the car in the parking lot. Just now was reported the Beaver (formally known as the Civil War) game will be at 12:30 or 7:30 on Espn or Abc. We will be at Dollywood so I hate hope for another late game, it will be 10:30 and can watch in motel room.
