  1. In this LA Times article I found, it says the following sports are not going to B1G. The schools’ Midwestern migration will begin on Aug. 2, 2024, and include all sports except beach volleyball, men’s volleyball and men’s and women’s water polo. It doesn't state specifically those sports are staying in Pac-12 though that is the assumption. USC and UCLA rock college sports by leaving the Pac-12 for the Big Ten WWW.LATIMES.COM USC and UCLA are leaving the Pac-12 for the Big Ten, a shift that will move college football's 'Power Five' closer to a 'Power Two.'
  2. Live WBB Updates: Ducks to face Rice in WNIT second round tilt The Ducks (18-14) are looking to make the most of their first WNIT appearance since 2016. The first chapter was an undoubted success with the Ducks trampling the North Dakota State Bison 96-57 in the opening round. The Rice Owls enter with a 23-8 record after finishing third in Conference USA this season. The Owls bested BYU in Provo last weekend to earn a second round berth and will once again aim to pull a road upset on Monday night. Rice won the 2021 WNIT in what was current Washington coach Tina Langley's final season as head coach. Lindsay Edmonds has continued the upward trajectory in her two seasons. 3. Big Ten's Wisconsin makes trek west for NIT quarterfinal showdown For just the fourth time since the 1999-2000 season, a Big Ten team will come west and play the Oregon Ducks on their home floor. Tuesday night the Oregon Ducks sit one win away from the NIT semifinals in Las Vegas and they'll need to beat an opponent they've faced multiple times in the postseason play. Tuesday night will mark the second time Wisconsin has played the Ducks on their home floor and just the third time all-time playing Oregon within the state of Oregon. Oregon hosted Wisconsin in a season-opener in 1990 and the Badgers won by two. This will also be just the fourth time since the 1999-2000 season Oregon has hosted a Big Ten team on their home floor. "I don't know much about them. I caught a couple of Big Ten games but they were early," said Oregon head coach Dana Altman Sunday after beating UCF in the second round. "Don't know much about them, played them a few years ago, but haven't played them recently. They do a great job and always compete, and we know we'll have our hands full. No doubt." 4. March Madness: Did Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer take shot at men's team after shocking early exit? Stanford's women's basketball team, a No. 1 seed, was shockingly eliminated from the second round of the NCAA tournament on Sunday by No. 8 Ole Miss. It was a historic defeat that marked just the fifth time since 1994 that a No. 1 seed was knocked out before the Sweet 16. Stanford never led in their 54-49 loss. After being asked a question about whether they need adversity to perform well (the last time Stanford won the championship, it was in 2021 when they were forced to relocate home games due to COVID-19 health orders), VanDerveer used Stanford's men's team as a measuring stick for the women's team's relative success. 6. Lanning looking for consistency, better kick placement from special teams unit during spring camp It was no secret Oregon's special teams unit was underwhelming during the 2022 season. The stats back it up, as Oregon ranked No. 119 in punt return defense (13.60 yards allowed), No. 117 in Net Punt (35.69 net yards), and No. 125 in kick return defense (25.20 yards allowed). Special teams performance has been a struggle of Oregon's for multiple years now, but first-year special teams coordinator Joe Lorig certainly had his work cut out for him this offseason. Head coach Dan Lanning has preached positional versatility to start this spring camp, and while they're about to enter a two-week hiatus, Lanning has made it clear that kick coverage teams and ball location are the two areas he and Lorig are highlighting this spring. 7. UO, RICE SET TO BATTLE IN WNIT SECOND ROUND Oregon will host Rice in the second round of the 2023 WNIT Monday night after a convincing 96-57 win over North Dakota State Friday. Rice ousted BYU in Provo Friday, 7-67, to advance to take on the Ducks. The Ducks' 96 points and 39-point margin of victory marked program highs in the WNIT. Monday's matchup with the Owls will be the first-ever meeting between the teams. Rice went 23-8 during the regular season and earned a third-place finish in the Conference-USA standings at 13-7. UO made its eighth all-time appearance in the WNIT, as the Ducks now boast a 19-5 record in the postseason tournament. 9. Pac-12 MBB Hot Seat Rankings: Will we see any changes in 2023? Despite continued mediocrity on the men’s basketball front, many programs aren’t making a significant effort to improve. Only one coach – Cal’s Mark Fox – was relieved of his duties after the season ended, with UW and Stanford each offering assurances for Mike Hopkins and Jerod Haase, respectively. That, coupled with only a few coaches who are realistic candidates to take other jobs, will likely lead to another quiet coaching carousel in the Pac-12. Below is a look at each Pac-12 coach and their current situation, ranked by the likelihood of a departure: Pac-12 men’s basketball head coach hot seat rankings DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Pac-12 had a really rough year on the hardwood, but yet again it looks like very few coaching changes are coming. Why is that?
  10. Austin Novosad shows promise, room for growth early on in spring practice Novosad is one of the many young athletes that arrived in camp early in hopes of getting a jump start on his career. Unless injuries occur, 2023 will be a redshirt season for the 6-foot-3, 185-pounder from Dripping Springs, Texas, but being able to get his feet wet in the spring will ultimately give him more experience down the road. Media members were not allowed to watch more than 20 minutes of the start of practice on either Thursday or Saturday, so we did not get to see Novosad in action. However, I’m told by someone who watched the practice that there were multiple turnovers, and Novosad was responsible for at least one of them. Should everything stay status quo with no injuries and no transfers between now and fall camp next season, the battle between Novosad and Ty Thompson to immediately replace Bo Nix in 2024 could be an interesting one, to say the least. Oregon Football: Dan Lanning assesses Austin Novosad’s play in spring DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Dan Lanning likes what he sees out of QB Austin Novosad, but naturally, there’s a lot to improve upon.

Nate Bittle's career day leads Oregon to NIT quarterfinals For the second straight game in the NIT the Ducks found a career-high performance from a player stepping into a bigger role due to the Ducks' top three players sitting out with injuries.
