  1. Oregon Ducks Injury Report: Final look at player's status heading into Week 2 vs. Texas Tech The Oregon Ducks’ Week 1 game against the Portland State Vikings brought about more questions than it did answers when it comes to the player availability front. While there were some expected absences, like for Nishad Strother, Jestin Jacobs, and Casey Kelly, a handful of other players also sat out, be it for injury reasons or something else. Fortunately, we were able to get a good idea of who is available and who is not by watching a couple of practices this week in Eugene. Most of the players who missed Saturday’s game were back at practice this week, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be ready to play down in Lubbock against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Here is the full updated injury report based on intel gathered by Ducks Wire through watching practice and talking with coaches this week... 3. Portland State Vikings were largely a hit, with fans loving the return of carbon fiber on the helmet wings. The jerseys for Week 2 against the Texas Tech Red Raiders should go over just as well. On Wednesday evening, Oregon unveiled their jerseys for the upcoming game down in Lubbock, releasing images of a white jersey combination that includes silver helmets, white jerseys, and white pants. The game on Saturday will be played at 6 p.m. local time in Texas, and 4 p.m. PT. The temperature is expected to be close to 100 degrees, so dressing in white will be beneficial for the Ducks trying to beat the heat. 5. Torres' Take: What's Next for Oregon Football Recruiting After Landing Brayden Platt Oregon's recruiting rankings got a boost on Monday, as the Ducks landed a commitment from 2024 Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt, moving them from No. 14 to No. 11 on the 247Sports Rankings. As we all know recruiting never stops, so the attention quickly turns to what's next for Dan Lanning and the Ducks on the trail. 7. Coveted Edge Rusher Solomon Williams Locks in Oregon Official Visit Oregon's 2024 recruiting class is getting tight on space following the commitment of Brayden Platt earlier this week. That said, one of the players that remains high on the recruiting big board for Dan Lanning and company is Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day EDGE Solomon Williams. The four-star standout has more than 40 reported scholarship offers and will take an official visit to Oregon this fall, according to a reporter from John Garcia Jr. of Rivals. Garcia reports that Williams will make a highly-anticipated return trip to Oregon for his official visit on September 23 when the Ducks are scheduled to play in their Pac-12 opener against Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. Williams is listed at 6'3", 250 pounds and is rated a four-star (0.9058) recruit by the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 294 player nationally, the No. 21 edge rusher and the No. 42 recruit in the talent-rich state of Florida. The standout trench talent is working from a top seven of Oregon, Alabama, UCF, Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Clemson and has yet to announce a decision date. 8. Texas Tech Week Two: Shough It All Over the Field Ask head coach Joey McGuire to dream up an opportunity to display “The Brand.” He would be hard-pressed to come up with a scenario better than the one in front of his team. Wyoming humbled this Texas Tech team to open the season. A quick knee-jerk reaction would be to suggest that this team was highly overrated. However, a Texas Tech week two showdown with a top-15 team is the exact scenario for “The Brand” to take center stage. So what will it take for the Red Raiders to bounce back and spring a home upset? 11. Dan Lanning details challenges that Texas Tech's offense and defense present Since he was hired in early 2022, it’s been clear that Dan Lanning likes to keep most things close to the vest and out of the media. There is nothing wrong with that approach. There is a legitimate argument that everything a head coach has to say about football should be proprietary. However, after the Saturday game against Portland State, Lanning shared more than he typically does about how he and the rest of the coaches are examining and approaching Texas Tech, offensively and defensively. One thing Lanning mentions about Texas Tech’s offense is its quick pace. 12. 2024 Oregon Target Picks up New Recruiting Prediction Jason Brown Jr. is one of Oregon's top running back targets in 2024 and could be trending away from the Ducks. But that may not be a bad thing. The Ducks love what they have in Riggs this cycle and I don't think there's much question that they want another back. However, with numbers getting tight at 23 verbal commitments, Carlos Locklyn and the coaching staff will likely need to decide if they want that running back to come from the high school ranks or the transfer portal. Access the article to find where Jason Brown Jr. is trending towards, click here.
  13. The A-Bomb: Can we relax yet about our backup quarterbacks? No. We saw some flashes of potential Saturday, but we need to see a lot more. On its first offensive possession of the season Saturday, Oregon marched down the field and scored on a pass from Bo Nix to his favorite target Troy Franklin. Then, the Ducks did something we haven’t seen in a while, and went for two on a test alignment. They got it. It was only 8-0, but the game was already over. Oregon scored like they were playing a basketball game, and the final of 81-7 was almost kind of…mean? I’m not totally sure. I am a proud UO alum who bleeds green and yellow, but I got my post-bac degree at Portland State, and I know how much they struggle to push their athletics. I felt a little bad for them. If nothing else, the preposterous spread allowed Oregon to give Nix a rest and for backup QBs Ty Thompson and Austin Novosad to see some game time. They did well…very well. Thompson was 7-for-8 for 81 yards and a touchdown and Novosad was 3-for-3 for 13 yards. Both looked poised and crisp. But it was against Portland State. The A-Bomb: Can we relax yet about our backup quarterbacks? No. WWW.ADDICTEDTOQUACK.COM We saw some flashes of potential Saturday, but we need to see a lot more.

  15. 5 Texas Tech players for Oregon fans to know ahead of Saturday's matchup There’s an interesting set of expectations that are presenting themselves for Oregon Ducks fans as they head into Week 2 of the season against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Because of the results in Week 1 — a lopsided victory for Oregon against a bad team, and a disappointing double-overtime loss to an average team for Texas Tech — it’s hard to predict what we may see in Lubbock this weekend. There’s a chance that the Red Raiders come out firing, knowing that they need to do anything they can in order to avoid an 0-2 start. There’s also a chance that the home team is completely outmatched by a really good Oregon team. While it’s impossible to predict the outcome, we do know that there are a number of players on the Texas Tech roster that Duck fans need to pay attention to going into the game. Whether it’s a solid QB or dangerous weapons on offense, or a pair of stout defensive linemen, the Red Raiders have a lot of highly talented players that can cause this game to change. 18. 'He's an NFL QB;' Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire talks Bo Nix, Dan Lanning, and the Ducks The Texas Tech Red Raiders have a lot to prove this weekend when they host the No. 13 Oregon Ducks in Lubbock for their home opener. Joey McGuire and his squad didn’t get off to the best start in Week 1, blowing a 17-point lead and losing to the Wyoming Cowboys in double-overtime. Texas Tech had high expectations going into the season, being picked to finish fourth in the Big 12 this year. Despite the season-opening loss, they still have those high expectations, and they hope to get things back on track this week with a statement win against an Oregon team that put 81 points on the board in the first week of the season. On Monday, McGuire met with media members to preview the matchup, talk about his team, and go into detail on what it is about the Ducks that makes them such a team. 23. QUAAAACK: Four-star LB Brayden Platt commits to Oregon over Oklahoma Oregon's top-10 2024 recruiting class grew by one more Monday, and it was a commitment that was a long time in the making. Four-star linebacker Brayden Platt announced his choice of the Ducks over Oklahoma on Labor Day giving Dan Lanning's defense its third four-star commit at the position in the cycle. Platt built an impressive offer list throughout his recruitment with many of the top programs from around the country pursuing the 6-foot-2 senior from Yelm, Washington. Ultimately, he narrowed his choices to the Ducks and Sooners, and now he will be staying close to home to play for Oregon as the program prepares to move to the Big Ten next year. That conference move could be a perfect fit for the 245-pound Platt, who had already been examining options in that league before Oregon announced its move. Platt's previous top list included programs such as UCLA, USC and Michigan among several others from around the country. I am not sure Ducks would've gotten Platt without going to the B1G! QUAAAACK: Four-star LB Brayden Platt commits to Oregon over Oklahoma OREGON.RIVALS.COM The Washington native becomes the third four-star linebacker to join the Ducks for the 2024 class.
