  2. Oregon TE Terrance Ferguson to return to Eugene for 2024 season The Oregon Ducks got some welcomed news on Saturday, with tight end Terrance Ferguson announcing that he will return to Eugene for one final season in 2024. Ferguson is among the best tight ends to play for the Ducks in recent memory, hauling in 89 passes for 928 yards and 12 touchdowns in his three-year career. Ferguson is just three touchdowns away from tying the Oregon Ducks school record for most by a TE in a career. There was some speculation about whether or not Ferguson would choose to enter the 2024 NFL Draft rather than utilize his final year of eligibility in Eugene. Had Ferguson tested the draft waters, he likely would have been a mid-to-late-round draft pick. With another solid year in Eugene, there’s a good chance that he can establish himself as a Day 2 pick, bringing a high upside and great size — 6-foot-6, 230 pounds — to the table... 3. I find it amazing that Oregon's Junior Adams recruited the Huskies’ star receiving trio of Rome Odunze, Ja’Lynn Polk, and Jalen McMillan when he was the WR coach there. He just must have the best eye for potential talent. Since arriving at Oregon, he has done amazing with the WR group too. The Ducks need to be sure to keep him!

  6. Where Oregon Ducks rank in final ESPN FPI of 2023 season The Oregon Ducks had a successful 2023 college football season, and while it stopped short of the ultimate goal of making the College Football Championship, a 12-win season with a victory in the Fiesta Bowl is never something that a fan base should turn down. Throughout the year, we’ve kept track of the Ducks’ place in the ESPN Football Power Index, which is a ranking that measures a team’s success based on expected point margins vs. average opponents on a neutral field. It is a ranking that offers a different look at the power balance in the nation, contrary to the College Football Playoff rankings, the Associated Press Poll, or the Coaches Poll. The Ducks have fared well in the ESPN FPI, routinely ranking near the top of the list. So how do they fare with all but one game left to play? Here’s a look... 7. Ducks Wire 2023 Awards: Which players impressed us the most? While we are past the major awards season in the world of college football, with trophies such as the Heisman, the Biletnikoff, and the Joe Moore Award being given out, the end of the season has officially brought forth a time for us to take stock of the year as a whole and properly examine everything in totality. As we’ve done for the past several years, it’s time to give out the Ducks Wire awards for the year. We went through this earlier in the year and handed out some mid-season awards, highlighting the offensive and defensive MVPs, the most improved players on the team, and a handful of other things that deserved some precious hardware. Now that the season is over, though, it’s time to immortalize some players with the honors officially. To help me do so, Ducks Wire’s Don Smalley and Miles Dwyer join to cast their votes on some of the biggest awards. Here are our official decisions for the end-of-year trophies... Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for Brown as he had an injury-riddled season where he played in just four games and just had one tackle. Moving back home, so to speak, and playing for the Cougars, Brown will be looking to resurrect a once-promising career. As a Duck, Brown played in 18 games with 36 tackles, one for loss. 15. Who were the 10 best offensive players for the Ducks in 2023 according to PFF? The Oregon Ducks football team was good in 2023, but just how good? We went to the analytics site PFF.com to find out how good the offensive players were this season. The obvious names like Bo Nix Troy Franklin and Bucky Irving show themselves, but there are a few players that you wouldn’t think would be on the list … was on the list. Who were the 10 best defensive players for the Ducks in 2023 according to PFF? The Oregon Ducks’ defense in 2023 was a breath of fresh after experiencing the Ducks’ shaky defense in 2022. There were still problems — particularly in the secondary when Oregon was playing Washington — but overall this year’s defense was a strong unit. After the culmination of the 2023 season, Pro Football Focus (PFF) finalized their season grades for every player in college football. PFF grades players based on their overall performance, as well as in specific aspects of the game. Today, I’m looking at the 10 Ducks defenders with the highest overall grades in 2023. One stat used throughout the list is “Stops,” which PFF defines as “tackles that constitute a ‘failure’ for the offense.” For more information on stops, PFF has a more in-depth explanation here. Lastly, this list only includes players with more than 200 snaps, so players like Rodrick Pleasant — whose defensive grade of 87.1 was the highest on the team — aren’t included due to a lack of snaps... 16. Jericho Johnson Talks Oregon Commitment, What's Next Oregon signed the massive defensive lineman out of Northern California last month and he projects to be a contributor for the Ducks. While out at Adidas All-American Bowl practice in San Antonio this week, one player that's nearly impossible to miss is Fairfield (Calif.) Armijo defensive lineman and Oregon signee Jericho Johnson. He committed to Dan Lanning and the Ducks during the early signing period and broke down his decision. "Just like the coaches and how hard they recruited me and them telling me just the potential they see in me," he said. "Them wanting to just coach me and basically help me unlock my full potential and play at the best level I can. "Especially wanting to play for a defensive head coach who had like five first-rounders on the same defense. Definitely wanted to play for a guy under that and then Coach Tosh and some of the names he's got under his belt, the guys he's coached, I know that they both specialize in D-line." Johnson saw the need he could help fill along the defensive line and the potential for development... To access the details in the article, click here.

From Dillon Gabriel and Dante Moore, to Kobe Savage and Jay Harris, the Ducks have added some potential massive difference-makers to the roster, but they will continue to look to improve their personnel over the next couple of weeks and months, with more players entering the portal every day. There have also been a few people who have left Eugene via the portal, such as S Cole Martin, RB Dante Dowdell, and QB Ty Thompson, which have led to potential positions of need that will be addressed. 24. Oregon has had some fantastic running backs in its school history. For years, the Ducks have had at least one 1,000 yard runner each season. Who is the best of all? Well, it's hard not to select the school's lone Doak Walker winner (LaMichael James), but because James only played three seasons, the school's all-time career leaderboard doesn't completely favor him. Royce Freeman surpassed several of James records, and former teammate Kenjon Barner is near him on other lists. Bucky Irving and his highlight-tape running make him one of the best running backs to come through Eugene. However, he failed to receive the necessary volume to statistically come close to players like James, Freeman or Barnes. Today, I've pulled out the Oregon official record book to run through the school's all-time rushing stats, compiling the 10 best in a variety of categories. This story will list the top individual games, seasons and careers of Ducks using a variety of statistical categories from completions to yards to touchdown to wins.
