  6. Former Oregon LB Keith Brown to enter transfer portal once again One of the rather surprising additions to the transfer portal last year was Oregon Ducks linebacker Keith Brown, a native from the state who had just spoken to media members days before about his commitment to the team, and his intention to stay in Eugene and not enter the portal. Instead, the former No. 1 player in the state of Oregon ended up transferring to the Louisville Cardinals, where he played in just four games a had 1 total tackle on the season. On Thursday, Brown announced that he would once again be entering the transfer portal and looking for a new team... 8. Dan Lanning Details Plan for Kingston Lopa After Signing With Oregon You don't find too many 6-foot-5, defensive backs, which is part of what makes him the one of the more intriguing players in Oregon's 2024 class. Oregon signed more than 25 recruits during the early signing period last week and put a bow on the highest rated class in program history. One of the more intriguing players in the group is Kingston Lopa, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound defensive back from Sacramento (Calif.) Grant Union High School. But Lopa wasn't always destined to be a Duck. In fact, he was committed to Jedd Fisch and the Arizona for three months and initially chose the Wildcats from his 18 total reported scholarship offers. After reopening his recruitment in April, he also considered schools like Tennessee and Washington before ultimately landing on Oregon. If you just look at Lopa's frame, you can see why he has the potential to be special. There aren't many 6-foot-5 defensive backs at the Power 5 level, and there was some chatter that he might even play some linebacker at the college level. During his national signing day press conference, head coach Dan Lanning provided some clarity for how Lopa's talents will play into the big picture for the Ducks upon his arrival... 10. LOOK: Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel gives inside look at offseason workouts The Oregon Ducks still have one game left with quarterback Bo Nix running the offense, and fans will certainly celebrate the time that they have remaining with No. 10, one of the best QBs to play in Eugene over the past few decades. However, you also can’t blame fans for having an eye for the future, and getting excited for what is to come. That means that when incoming transfer QB Dillon Gabriel posts a video of his offseason workouts to social media, you can expect Oregon fans to be all over it. The former Oklahoma QB did just that this week, showing some of the work that he’s been putting in this offseason, throwing with fellow Oregon signee WR Jack Ressler and working with a QB coach... 11. Oregon ‘in conversations’ with Hawaii to reschedule 2024 football season opener Oregon may not play 13 regular season games in 2024 after all. The Ducks are scheduled to open the 2024 football season at Hawaii on August 24. However, UH athletic director Craig Angelos said the game is “in doubt right now because of this conference realignment,” according to a report by Honolulu Civil Beat, and the sides are discussing a new date for the game. “We have had an ongoing dialogue with Hawaii that began when we were examining ways to continue to play Oregon State, similar to discussions we were having with Boise State and Texas Tech,” a UO athletics spokesperson told The Oregonian/OregonLive. “We are still in conversations with Hawaii in an attempt to find a new date for the scheduled game in 2024.” Oregon ‘in conversations’ with Hawaii to reschedule 2024 football season opener WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM It’s not immediately clear when the sides could reschedule the game, but doing so in 2024 appears at least impractical, if not...

  13. Michigan State DL Derrick Harmon removes name from transfer portal The Oregon Ducks missed out on a top defensive tackle prospect this week, with former Michigan State DL Derrick Harmon announcing that he would be removing his name from the transfer portal and returning to East Lansing. Harmon was one of the top transfer targets for the Ducks, especially after former Texas A&M DL Walter Nolen announced his transfer to Ole Miss last week. In three years at Michigan State, Harmon played in 25 games and totaled 71 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Harmon will now rejoin the Spartans under a new coaching staff, with former Oregon State coach Jonathan Smith at the helm. This is a big time win for Smith early on in his tenure. Going forward, we can expect the Ducks to stay aggressive at the DL position in the portal, but they may decide to wait until the spring window to make further additions... 18. Five Recruits From Oregon's 2024 Class That Could Have an Early Impact Oregon just signed its best recruiting class in program history. Keep an eye on these players to see the field early in their college careers. Dan Lanning and the Ducks achieved a historic milestone last week when they signed the best recruiting class that Oregon has ever seen. Not too shabby for just Lanning's second full recruiting cycle as a head coach. There are many questions that fans are asking coming out of the early signing period, and one of them is which recruits could see playing time in 2024? Let's take a closer look.... 24. Meet Kobe Savage, Oregon's Newest Safety The All-Big-12 defensive back will join the Ducks in 2024 after spending the last two seasons with the Kansas State Wildcats. Oregon football's haul in the transfer portal has been headlined by offensive talent thus far, and maybe deservedly so. Dan Lanning and Will Stein recruited and landed two of the top available quarterbacks in Dillon Gabriel and Dante Moore, setting up their quarterback room for years to come in Eugene. But don't be quick to overlook the first defensive addition, Kansas State safety Kobe Savage, a 2023 All-Big-12 selection. The 5-foot-11, 202-pound defensive back spoke with Ducks Digest about his recruitment in the transfer portal, his story and why he chose to commit to Dan Lanning and Oregon. "When I got up there, it was just a really tight-knit group of coaches," Savage explained. "Just different connections I was building throughout that weekend with Coach Lanning, Coach [Chris] Hampton, Tosh Lupoi---all those guys are just really great guys that are a lot of defensive-minded guys that I want to be around and associate myself with through their resume and through their schemes." Savage can do a little bit of everything as a defensive back and is excited to get going with the Ducks... To access the details in this article, click here.
