  1. Honestly, the officiating has been atrocious this year. I don’t remember a year when so many easy calls were just flat out missed. It seems to be going both ways, so I guess you just have to live with it. It has been nothing short of embarrassing. For a sport that brings in so much revenue, to have officials that are less then competent, is just mind-blowing. It is like going to a 5-star restaurant and getting a plastic spork as a utensil.
  2. Wow. This just keeps getting sadder and sadder.
  3. 100%. That is a ridiculous comment from SAS about a coach in his first year with a program.
  4. Man. I am getting old. 😛 I was in the student section and saw the pick, but I never saw the return. I got tackled and ended up under a pile of students. That season was insane.
  5. Unreal. Every year. Hopefully we can keep it to one player and he heals up quickly.
  6. USC has crab grass.
  7. Every 1-loss SEC or BIG team is going to make it this year. If you have 2 losses, one of those better be in the Conference Championship game. If it is not, then you are likely in a beauty contest for one of the last spots with a bunch of other teams. Not a place you want to be.
  8. Who are they going to hire that is going to do a better job? Sark, Kiffin, Helton? Oh wait. They already had those guys.
  9. The Sears catalog of football strikes again. USC tears are the best.
  10. Indiana offense is legit. Glad we don’t have to play them right now.
  11. Defense is pretty legit. Those last two drives on offense were a little sad. Hopefully we can clean that up at some point.
  12. Yep. Me too. That kid is just better than everyone else.
  13. Another thing to consider is timing. The world has changed significantly over the past 20 years. FaceTime, Zoom, social media, increase in travel, etc make distance less of a factor with 18 year old recruits. I believe this has greatly benefited Oregon in recruiting and Dan is taking full advantage of it. As others have pointed out, he is getting what he needs at Oregon, including landing top recruits.
  14. I see both sides of this. As a coach, I think DL needs to set an example here. However, I also think it is important to teach and give second chances. I know I got my fair share of second chances when I was in my teens and 20s. If it was me, I would probably sit him for the Purdue game to reinforce that his behavior was unacceptable. IMO, that is probably sufficient considering what he did.
  15. Klatt has had a rough go this week with his opinions. I have never really understood the argument Team X is Y number of plays away from being undefeated and a great team. Great teams make plays when they really need them and average to below average teams do not. That is the difference between being great and being average. USC is 3-3 because they couldn't make the plays when they really needed them. Therefore, by definition, they are average.
  16. This is a great post. I think there is a lot of truth to this. A lot of the older generation fans of these programs are still stuck on and convinced that tradition means more than anything, including the people running them. However, ask the younger generation about “tradition” and they will just laugh at you. The world is changing faster than ever. Their culture is change, innovation and adoption. Oregon checks all those boxes right now. On the topic of USC: USC is the definition of a “has-been” program. They are the equivalent of the Sears catalog trying complete with Amazon. The thought within that program and among the fans is that USC was the best, so they should always be the best. But in reality, USC is stale and tired to the people that matter - recruits and players. From their garbage stadium, to their plain tired jerseys with no names on the back, to the “Hollywood” scene (which is no longer that cool), to their annoying stories about the glory days when everyone wore leather helmets; they are moving backwards faster than most people realize. USC has a program issue. They refuse to change and they are slowly becoming the Sears catalog of college football. It’s like watching a car crash. Just take a look at what Sarkisian, Kiffin, and Helton are doing right now with their respective programs. Even Orgeron won a few games in 2019 😂, They can fire Riley, but it won’t matter who they bring in to replace him. The entire attitude around the program is the issue. Until that changes, they are going to continue to slip. Now compare that to Oregon, where the culture has inspired coaches to succeed through innovation, adoption, program improvements, and change. Every head coach that has left this program since Rich Brooks, has never been able to find even remotely similar success other places. The people in charge of USC can’t see this, and I hope they never do.
  17. I think the original poster is mostly correct. Most just want to do a good job. Maybe there are some gaps in knowledge or other “misses”, but overall it usually evens out somewhere along the way. That being said, what did Oregon do to Rod Gilmore over the years? That dude flat out hates us.
  18. Hard to argue with Jeanty being at the top of that list right now. Dude is just better than everyone else. I love that Dillon is in the discussion and has a chance to move up and make a run.
  19. The scary thing is that this team is 6-0 and still has not played a complete game. What is that going to look like when it finally happens? As the other team, I guess you just hope it doesn’t happen to you.
  20. That game is going to pay recruiting dividends for a long time.
