Oregon Football's Traeshon Holden Issues Apology for Spitting on Ohio State Player
I see both sides of this. As a coach, I think DL needs to set an example here. However, I also think it is important to teach and give second chances. I know I got my fair share of second chances when I was in my teens and 20s. If it was me, I would probably sit him for the Purdue game to reinforce that his behavior was unacceptable. IMO, that is probably sufficient considering what he did.

It's Must-Win For USC For the Rest of the Season
Klatt has had a rough go this week with his opinions. I have never really understood the argument Team X is Y number of plays away from being undefeated and a great team. Great teams make plays when they really need them and average to below average teams do not. That is the difference between being great and being average. USC is 3-3 because they couldn't make the plays when they really needed them. Therefore, by definition, they are average.

We Hired Lincoln Riley, You HIred Dan Who?
This is a great post. I think there is a lot of truth to this. A lot of the older generation fans of these programs are still stuck on and convinced that tradition means more than anything, including the people running them. However, ask the younger generation about “tradition” and they will just laugh at you. The world is changing faster than ever. Their culture is change, innovation and adoption. Oregon checks all those boxes right now. On the topic of USC: USC is the definition of a “has-been” program. They are the equivalent of the Sears catalog trying complete with Amazon. The thought within that program and among the fans is that USC was the best, so they should always be the best. But in reality, USC is stale and tired to the people that matter - recruits and players. From their garbage stadium, to their plain tired jerseys with no names on the back, to the “Hollywood” scene (which is no longer that cool), to their annoying stories about the glory days when everyone wore leather helmets; they are moving backwards faster than most people realize. USC has a program issue. They refuse to change and they are slowly becoming the Sears catalog of college football. It’s like watching a car crash. Just take a look at what Sarkisian, Kiffin, and Helton are doing right now with their respective programs. Even Orgeron won a few games in 2019 😂, They can fire Riley, but it won’t matter who they bring in to replace him. The entire attitude around the program is the issue. Until that changes, they are going to continue to slip. Now compare that to Oregon, where the culture has inspired coaches to succeed through innovation, adoption, program improvements, and change. Every head coach that has left this program since Rich Brooks, has never been able to find even remotely similar success other places. The people in charge of USC can’t see this, and I hope they never do.

You Know, I'm Just a Small-Time Schmuck...
I think the original poster is mostly correct. Most just want to do a good job. Maybe there are some gaps in knowledge or other “misses”, but overall it usually evens out somewhere along the way. That being said, what did Oregon do to Rod Gilmore over the years? That dude flat out hates us.

It's Time for Another Duck to Win the Heisman
Hard to argue with Jeanty being at the top of that list right now. Dude is just better than everyone else. I love that Dillon is in the discussion and has a chance to move up and make a run.

DUCKS Football Rise Above Themselves
The scary thing is that this team is 6-0 and still has not played a complete game. What is that going to look like when it finally happens? As the other team, I guess you just hope it doesn’t happen to you.

Feels like we have to score on this possession. .- GameDay Thread versus Ohio State: Join Us!
Bummer. Needed a score on that first drive.- GameDay Thread versus Ohio State: Join Us!
Holden with the Hawk Tuah. I don’t know what to say. How do you do that and hurt your team????- GameDay Thread versus Ohio State: Join Us!
Wow. I don’t even know what to say. I thought the Pac-12 refs were bad…… and Holden was WIDE OPEN. Ugh. Too many mistake.- GameDay Thread versus Ohio State: Join Us!
How was that a catch? Did the receiver ever have control of that ball????- New CFB Playoff REMOVES the Pressure Off This Game?
Nobody is really talking (outside of true duck fans) about how good this defense is right now. Nine straight quarters without an offensive touchdown by the first team defense. When was the last time that happened at Oregon, if ever? Have held every team to under 200 yards passing so far this year. Insane! What’s even crazier, is looking at all the numbers, then realizing just how good Ashton Jeanty is.- Vandy over 'Bama: Some Losses are a LOT Worse than Others
This is just my opinion, but DeBoer is a very good football coach. I expect this situation to be solved. Riley on the other hand.....- Trojan Tears are Wonderful
That’s hilarious. USC has been behind Oregon since the day Chip Kelly walked into the Oregon program and changed everything.- ESPN GameDay Coming to Oregon Next Week!
Unless tOSU loses by some fluke, next week’s game is a lock for Gameday.- Which Has More Upside Left: Offense or Defense?
Oregon’s defense was pretty nasty again last night. The starting unit has not given up an offensive touchdown in 9 consecutive quarters. That’s outstanding! IMO the offense looked pretty good last night too. Well balanced and moved the ball well. They had 300+ yards at half. If DG can stop throwing balls to well covered receivers running outs at the goal line, I like this team’s chances next week.- Was That an Unsatisfying Three-Touchdown B1G Road Win to YOU?
I thought overall the defense was solid. Holding an opponent on the road to no offensive TDs is impressive. The offense still shows moments of greatness, mixed with a bunch of mistakes. That won’t get it done versus tOSU in two weeks. Agree with the poster above. Oregon is not a tier 1 team with the likes of Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, or tOSU right now. They are firmly in the second tier with Miami, Missouri, USC, and PSU. Hopefully, they can continue to improve. If the offense doesn’t improve significantly in the next two weeks, they are going to get rolled by tOSU.- Oregon GameDay Thread versus UCLA: Join Us!
I suspect Georgia will stay above Oregon. I am guessing No 7 or maybe No 6 if they jump Miami.- Oregon GameDay Thread versus UCLA: Join Us!
Gabriel looks out of sorts. Run the ball.- Let's Discuss! CFB College Football GameDay (All Other Games on 9-28)
