  1. I don't think the Ducks lose by 20....or by 17..I see this as a 12-14 point game. The O/U is 51.5 but methinks that may be low. I say 59or 60 is the O/U Our defense is still finding their feet. Our offense should be clicking pretty good and should be able to score some. And your very own Bo Nix is a PITA when he gets outside the pocket. 2. To be fair, that was Vanderbilt. But the other side of the coin is that I saw him -Carter 88- do that same thing against Michigans OL too. We have a couple of other dudes that will be on the DL that are good, but lack some experience. The played in the rotation in relief, but just couldn't unseat the starters Davis and Walker. We don't have the "A 6'7" 350 dude" but we will be more traditional SEC defense with a bit smaller (if you can call 6'5" 300 small- y'all have the same type DL I think) I hope they will be enough to tie up your IOL so the edge guys can roam a little more free; I think our strength in the front seven will be the edge guys. Some fast dudes. They're pretty good; Nolan Smith and Robert Beal. Inside backers a youthful, lots of potential but young.
  3. I fear Oregon is going to be able to run the ball. Or as we say in the SEC "RTDB" I hope not, but thats where I see Oregons success offensively.
  4. Good comment, and you nailed what we lost last year...defensive line and linebackers. We have some dudes that played a good bit last year, but we lack some experience in the front seven. We have some very talented kids who can play LB and DL, and while they got some good rotation time in relief last year, they still lack experience. This could be a higher scoring affair than Dawg fans have seen in a minute. You also noted that the secondary is better; yes, they will/should be much better. The offense you may have missed; it looks to be loaded this year. Wide receivers are all experienced and talented with a couple of All SEC selections. All started or played significantly. Running Backs are experienced. I just hope we have enough backs to stay fresh. Stetson Bennett at QB is good to go. The offensive line may be in some mentions for Joe Moore if they hold up; have 2-3 on All SEC team. And I think we have a good and deep TE room. Reasonable and watchful Dawg fans will tell you the offense should be ok. We have some dudes that played a good bit last year, but we lack a good deal of experience in the front seven. The DB's should be good to go. We have some very talented kids who can play LB and DL, and while they got some good rotation time in relief last year, they still lack experience. This could be a higher scoring affair than Dawg fans want. Hopefully those young LB's will find their feet. As far as Dawg fans be delusional or not "respecting" Oregon? I think we are probably just like any other fan base ; we all have relatives we like to keep hid. Some us may be a little loud cause we get on the bourbon a bit hard, but we are generally harmless. We see UGA football for what it is at the moment. We might want the moment to last a bit longer. But we respect Oregon, even if some won't admit it; we would be stupid to not respect you. personally I see last years losses to Utah as just that; last years losses. And I think while UGA fans are enjoying our title, we understand one very important thing...a new season starts Sept 3rd and that title was last year. That "defending" thing is BS...this is a new season.
  5. Ya driving them big double log trucks on some mighty narrow roads my friend; it takes them muy grande huevos. All we have here are 53' pulpwood trucks. We have the small roads, but they're slick red clay. Have some elevation timber cutting, but mostly its pine plantations in the middle of the state. The Oregon defense I think my boys may actually fare well against. It's Oregons offense that has me scratching my head. Seems like you always have some super jet flanker that runs like he snatched one of mommas biscuits before supper.
  6. Yeah. You south Georgia folks talk funny; ya don't sound anything like we do up here on the "Top o' Georgia."
  7. Your boys are gonna have a tuff time Log Haulin. Dawgs offense, especially the OL and TE's are more than loaded. And big. And fast. On a side note, I have a good friend who drives log trucks in Cour D'Alene. I've seen the roads he drives on; y'all need an extra side seat to carry your cajones.
  8. Just a note of information: During the 2021 CFP Stetson Bennett faced two defenses ranked in the top 10 that had four of the top linebackers & defensive ends in CFB; Will Anderson & Christian Harris at Bama, and Aiden Hutchinson & David Ojabo at Michigan. Hutchinson was a first round selection and Ojabo went in round 2.
  9. All of this is fairly accurate with a few regional differences. And yes, there are some regional differences. Not all southern accents are the same; coastal plain and upper coastal plain; all somewhat more refined you might say. These are found in south Alabama, south Georgia and some of north Florida, and even these have variances. Atlantic coastal plain and Piedmont, very similar to the coastal plain drawl, but a bit more excited in timing. Then there is the mountain accent, that has some of the same cadences, but has that Dolly Parton & Loretta Lynn bounce; found in the southern Appalachians up thru WV) Most of its pretty subtle, and people from outside the region probably can't tell the differences. Hope y'all enjoy the trip!
  10. Utah will feel the humidity effects. There's a massive difference between SLC and 30% and Gainesville Fl and 93% I have been to SLC; just got back from Florida. 85* here with 90% humidity is worse than 110* and 25% in Arizona. The Utes are gonna sweat. Florida is maybe equal on the 1st 22, but after that Utah probably has better depth and Whittingham is a good coach. Napier is gonna be a good coach too, but Whittingham has the advantage of tenure.
  11. Pretty good take. The SEC won’t stray far from the region or culture. The culture is really kind of what we have always thrived on. Missouri kind of stretched it for a lot of folks here in the SEC. Some traditionalist even balked at Texas and Oklahoma. May sound strange to you in the PNW but ruth be told, Texas may be on of the “northernmost” SEC schools; Austin is quite unlike any other city in the SEC homes.
  12. Most Hated Rival: Once upon a time it was Ga Tech ( aka: North Avenue Trade School or NATS) and still is to some but they have fallen into basically FCS level and are no longer competitive. Most any UGA fan will agree that Florida is the hottest rivalry and the one team we relish in beating. The history there is storied and downright hateful. That rivalry could be a thread of its own. Worst Heartbreak: Any number of missed calls in the 2017 National Championship game and overtime TD pass. One offsides penalty changed the game...There are shirts, "Tyler Simmons was onsides" and eventually the B1G official recanted and said that he was in fact onsides. 40 years of heartbreak there friends. Favorite Moments: Best one...The Kelee Ringo pick six in the 21' title game. Favorite Wins: Beating Notre Dame 3 times. Any win against Flarduh. 21 Title Game vs Bama. Maybe the 07 Auburn Blackout game. What is your favorite recruiting win (and loss)? Nick Chubb was a pretty good win since he was getting a good push from Bama. Hderschel was a good win...he almost went to Clemson. It was nice getting Jacob Eason and I think he would have been great if he hadn't gotten Wally Pipp'd. Biggest loss?? We lost a couple of good running backs to Tennessee back in the late 90's...Travis Henry is the first that comes to mind. What's your favorite Georgia college tradition? UGA has two that are pretty cool. "Battle Hymn to Old Georgia" A lone trumpeter stands on the upper deck on the southwest corner of the stadium and plays, while the band on the field then joins softly...then this montage is played on the big screen. I have literally seen grown men cry. It can be quite chilling. The second one has become "Lightin Up Sanford" at the start of the fourth quarter. This is done while the band plays "Krypton fanfare" It pretty well gets the juices flowing on a lubed up Saturday night crowd. If you're in Atlanta Sept 3, you may see it there. Heck fire, we travel so well, we even lit up South Bend! This is vs Notre Dame in Athens 2019 What's your favorite "away" game venue? TIAA Bank...UGA vs Flarduh in the WLOCP and Ga Tech's Bobby Dodd Stadium. Mark Richt neveer lost there so it is now AKA "Mark Richt Field" Why can't you admit that Texas BBQ is the best? Because it ain't. This isn't a question.
  13. I can't say we have a single play that altered a rivalry. If I did, it may actually be a last second Hail Mary that the Vols threw on us in 2016. Jacob Eason had jut tossed about a 80 yard go ahead score with 10 seconds left. On the ensuing KO we got a penalty and gave them some extra grass..the Vols tossed one into the endzone to win with time gone. Since then, UT has gone into the crapper and we have gone the other way. Some say Ga Tech is our little brother...we say Tuck Fech; its universal I think.
  14. Most memorable plays....Larry Munson. Dawg fans would tune in the TV, then turn the volume down and turn the radio on to hear Larry Munson. ... Run Lindsey The Hobnail Boot. The Vawls were undefeated and it was Richt first SEC road game ...in Neyland Stadium My God A Freshman
  15. Yeah. That wasnt a very cool mascot. Errybody loves the Duck you have now man. Gotta be a character to be in that suit. We have on called "Hairy Dawg" that you see as well and hes pretty good...but more subdued thean The Duck.
  16. Man, you are gonna test me here?! OK The Bulldawgs mascot came from a fraternity in 1894 that had a female bulldog as a pet; "Trilby." The story goes that she had puppies and the puppies got out on the practice field under everyones feet and one of the players suggested, "Well, I guess Trilby has given us a name, "Bulldawgs." It stuck. Funny thing is that the first live mascot we had was a goat. But the current bulldog line of "Uga's" started in 1956 with UGA I Hoods old Dan. The line has been maintained by the Seiler family ever since. Each Uga is entombed in the west endzone of Sanford Stadium and fresh flowers are placed at each home game. The current UGA is UGA X "Que." Uga is treated as royalty almost and people will wait in line to have their picture made with him....except Auburn fans. History of UGA the Mascot GEORGIADOGS.COM History of UGA the Mascot Spring game attendance? We call it "G Day" Last year was a little low at 68,000 But a few years ago we had over 90,000 Athens Ga is pretty much in the heart of Georgia. It sits at the top of what i known as the Piedmont region; rolling hills mixed of pine plantation, cotton fields, corn fields and some pecan orchards that separate the Blue Ridge from the upper coastal plains. Its typical Georgia to the very core. Lots of incredible food! Everything from traditional "mommas cooking" meat and three, varying types of bar B que ( yes, there are several different types in the south-I am partial to mustard & vinegar base sweet Carolina) Athens itself is a nice quiet town, far enough away from the Sodom and Gomorrah of Atlanta, bit not too small that you feel like Andy and Barney are on the courthouse lawn. It is the fifth largest in the state, but arguable the better of larger town in Georgia to live...it really is a nice town. There is a saying that "Downtown Athens is undefeated." Your coaching history is revealing to me. I did not know McKay and Robinson had coached there..impressive. I am not sure we have had names such as that. But here goes. Wally Butts was perhaps the game changer for UGA football. He coached from 1939-1960 and won the 42' National Championship. He had Frank Sinkwich as his stud player. Sinkwich was the first SEC player to win a Heisman. After that was definitely Pat Dooley and Herschel Walker...y'all know whi Herschel is already. Pat Dooley coached from 64-88 winning the 1980title and several SEC trophys. The 1990's were our "Years of Doom" or as some have called it "The Goof and Dumb Years" referencing coached Ray Goff and Jim Donnan; both were alright guys, but they were inthe shadow of Dooley and at the same time trying to compete with SOS at Florida ( some of you call him Steve Spurrier) Luckily we found some solace when we hired Mark Richt aka St Mark. He helped get us out of the Florida funk some and set us on pace for some pretty good years from 2002 thru present. Kirby Smart is the Prodigals Son, and is treated as such; you know the whole fatted calf and new clothes too! Rivals you may not know about.... Tennessee. I hate 10-R-C Auburn- "Yhe Deep Souths Oldest Rivalry" .since 1892...126 years ..we own them. 16-5 since 02' Clemson or Clems-Son...yeah we own them too. 43-18 overall and 4-1 since 02' Flarduh....Errybody hates em. Worst part for me is, I know their head coach personally. Went to church with his family for years. His dad coached my son....Hes a great guy. I still hate flarduh. Georgia tech....mmm they suck pretty bad....its still "Clean Old Fashioned Hate" Funny enough, we haven't viewed Bama as a rival per se. We just needed to beat them to exercise the demons.
  17. I am an unabashed dyed in the wool Georgia Bulldawg. As the saying goes here; "Georgia born, Georgia bred, and when I'm gone by god, I'llGeorgia dead." But I joined this forum to learn a little more about the Ducks and tell you a little more about us. I have always kind of enjoyed watching the Ducks when the opportunity presented itself but I really don't know much about you other than the many uniforms; I love the all green. My sons HS team colors were green and white and when they chose 'green on green' it was referred to as the pickle suit. OK...I digress. I and a lot of other Dawgs would like to know more about you. Who is your truly most hated rival? Washington or Oregon State? Who is the next most loathed? Your worst heartbreak? UGA fans have plenty of those! Your favorite wins? That is what I want to hear. And please, as us those questions too! We would love to tell you about Awebarn turning on the sprinklers on us! Or how much we love the greatest radio man of all time, Larry Munson! Not so much as to talk about this game, but to know who the Oregon Ducks are, to learn about your traditions...the deep rooted ones. The history of "the Duck" ...Y'all are on the extreme opposite end of the country from us and as different as night and day, but football is the language we can both speak.
  18. I hope we have all been "class." I think I can say the same for the Ducks that I have commented on or commented on my posts. Y'all definitely got a good coach with Lanning.
  19. As a point of interest: Oklahoma and Texas petitioned the SEC for admission. They weren't poached.
  20. Obviously I can’t speak for all the SEC, and I haven’t really talked to many about this subject. But so far the general consensus has been that while it’s a bit of a $$ move on their part (USC & UCLA) the feeling at the moment is that it’s stupid and maybe a dive off the ledge. They’re joining a spread out conference; bi-coastal. The travel costs will increase exponentially. Destroyed natural historical & regional rivals. I’m not sure they will fare well. Look what jumping ship did to other schools: Nebraska has been a dumpster for for 20 years. Missouri thought it’d boost them to upper tier if the SEC but has only given them one division title…and didn’t elevate their recruiting much if at all. Syracuse to the acc thought they could recruit the south and bring back the glory of the 90’s but still languish on the Mendoza line. I can’t really think of a team that jumped their traditional conference that has been successful and I think USC/UCLA will be in deep waters by doing so. Most people think that Texas to the SEC will be bad for them too. SEC folks see Oklahoma as maybe being competitive but not Texas. When teams realign 1200 miles out of their base, they are getting wayyy out of their “culture.” I’m probably wrong about all of this, but I really think this move won’t help them. Oregon & Washington will be the real winners here; those southern Cal kids don’t want to travel to State College Pa, or Wisconsin & Illinois…in the snow, sleet and cold rain. The PAC can and should survive this, probably even thrive. Dang, go steal Boise and maybe a BYU. But the PAC IMO will be fine.
  21. I can see you’re a DGD. We could argue those points to death I suppose. 3 quick items and I’ll move on. OL- Willock probably will be the RG. Your right Truss will work at RT I think. DB- Tykee looks to be a S. Poole may be the star. Rumored of course. RB- Milton I think will surprise. We both agree K Macintosh is the man tho. and yes. Gurley was an all timer no doubt. ok. Onto the question….Dawg forums who are common sense? I’m not sure any exist. Most are somewhat psychologically challenged. The college football forum on the falcons board…yeah…actual normal folks College Sports Forum - Falcons Life Forums BOARDS.ATLANTAFALCONS.COM From the SEC to the PAC-10 and back again, this is the place to discuss what happens on the gridiron on...
  22. Pretty accurate. Let me expand on the points made. Detail what the Ducks would face on each one. 1- IlB are a bit young, but all ILBs this year played in 14-15 games last year. Mondon, Jamon-Dumas, Marshall, Davis and Chambliss. All played heavily in rotation too. They are young but not. completely inexperienced. And all are 5* or 4* kids. In reality it may be OLB Nolan Smith. He will be All SEC and maybe AA by end of season. 2- DL will be solid. Zion Logue and Tramel Walthour are solid SEC defensive linemen. Running away from Carter is kind of playing to Logue and Walthour. I’ll guess all of these dudes will be draft picks. But Carter is 1 round guy. 3- Working the safety opposite Chris Smith….it’s going to be Tykee Smith. He was a 2x All American and 3x all conference at WV before transferring to UGA last year. Popped his knee in fall camp last year and don’t play until late. FWIW Sports Illustrated just named UGA’s DBs “Best In College Football” Offense 1- Attacking the guards isn’t bad advice. Tate Ratledge will be one of the guards probably. He was a starter last year but injured first game. Warren Erickson may be the other guard. our line rotated so heavy last season inside it’s tuff to say. Our guards pull A LOT. Broderick Jones and Warren McClendon at each tackle…they’re just too good. but I agree on trying to get through the guards . 2- Macintosh (215) and Milton (225) are solid prototypes of UGA running backs; big and fast. And the 3rd guy Daijun Edwards is as good if not better. Milton is fun to watch…very Todd Gurley-sequel. Look for OC Monken to loosen up your backers with some TE PA slants and then pull the guards to open his ground game. 3- 3rd and medium/long gins up the TE PA. You’ll see a lot of 13 personnel from Todd Monken. And we have pretty good TE’s. Everyone discounts the WR’s but AD Mitchell should be an all SEC. And Adrian Smith is a 4.3 guy. Ladd McConkey ( the wife cousin) returns w 450y and 31 snags. He ain’t too shabby. I know it comes off as homerish. But this is just a counter to the points made. I hope it’s just seen as information.
  23. All Dawgs loathe Flarduh with the fires of a thousand suns. Out of our whole schedule this year, Oregon is perhaps the scariest game to us. To be truthful, I think Oregon is the game we maybe can least afford to lose and barring a brain fade vs someone like South Carolina ( Sahkalina ) the Ducks is the team who has the best odds to beat us in the regular season.
  24. I’ll guess Utah v FU will be a 12 noon game on ESPN / ESPN 2 if it’s at noon, that place will be hotter than Satans outhouse. Ducks & Dawgs will be probably be a 3:30 game on ESPN I don’t think the CBS 3:30 SEC picks up until we start league play.
