  1. Phil Knight isn’t cold-calling anyone. I can’t imagine that anyone Phil wants to talk to wouldn’t happily make time for his call.
  2. That’s hilarious! I’ve just recently started visiting this forum, so I’ve only read a few of your posts. I gotta say, you Sir have a way with words that I greatly appreciate. And a great sense of humor to go with it. I look forward to reading more. Very well done Sir!!!
  3. Absolutely Duck 1972! Nowadays I hear so many pundits talking about high flying offenses, that’s fun to watch. But if you want to win consistently, dominate the line of scrimmage! Many things have changed, that hasn’t.
  4. Wouldn’t surprise me. As I said before, there is something about Oregon that this kid really likes! No matter what, Big win for the Ducks today!!! I say again “Very well done Ducks”
  5. Well done!!! Young on deck?
  6. That’s a great article on Locklyn. I find it not only interesting but very inspiring. Thanks for posting this article. I was about to respond to DazeNconfused agreeing that Oregon’s coaching staff was very likely the reason Young is so interested. I came to that assumption without knowing much about Locklyn. Now I agree even more. If this dude is all that he seems and I were a highly recruited running back, I’d love to play for him. But even if Young doesn’t choose Oregon, I’ll be paying attention to Locklyn. He already has some great talent to work with. His story will continue to be very interesting.
  7. He is a big time recruit at RB. It’s not surprising that Bama and UGA are in his top 3 as I’m sure both are very aggressively recruiting him. I’m not insinuating that it’s very surprising that Oregon is as well, but this kid is from the Southeast. There is something this kid really likes about Oregon. The fact that he narrowed down to two southern schools and 1 school about as far away from home as you can get is telling. According to 247 it will be tough to pull him from Bama. I don’t remember many times that a crystal ball prediction for Bama is wrong. UGA will certainly do their best, and that’s pretty strong. But this guy didn’t just add Oregon for the heck of it. It’s possible The Ducks have more pull here than many think.
  8. I gotta say, I’ve enjoyed reading all the posts regarding this situation from the members of this forum. Many have been very insightful. I wish I could add to them with intelligent thoughts conveying what I think Oregon should be looking to do or how I feel the Pac-12 should respond. I can’t at the moment, this whole turn of events has my head spinning. My only advice to you Ducks is to win Baby! When UCLA comes to Eugene in a few months just destroy them. Then pray that USC makes it to the Pac-12 Championship so you can bury their season in an unmarked grave somewhere in the Nevada desert. No it won’t solve the issue at hand but it would absolutely put a smile on my face. And depending on the rest of the season it might send the Ducks to the Playoff.
  9. Yes sir you do get us! I’m very excited about this game also. I think it’s great to start the season against a very good team. Sure, if Oregon wins, you’ll hear many excuses especially from SEC talking heads, and from GA fans on other forums. You won’t hear them from myself, and I seriously doubt (from the posts I’ve read) from any of the other GA fans that are members of this forum. Yes, if Oregon wins I’ll be highly disappointed. But man, I’ve been a GA fan long enough to be familiar with major disappointment. Just in recent years: last year Bama whipped our butts in the SEC Championship, and the year before UF (huge rival) whipped us in Jacksonville. I hated it, especially the UF game. I wish I had a good excuse for the game against the Gators but I don’t. Their offense was hard to handle and they beat us by 16 points I think. Hard to call that a fluke. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Aside from last years Playoff games, you guys going into the horseshoe and beating tOSU was one of the most enjoyable games of the season for me. I’m not so confident to think you guys can’t possibly do it against us Dawgs. I expect a very good ballgame.
  10. I was hesitant to say bc I wasn’t sure if it was a violation. But I suppose if Charles is adding to the conversation here it’s ok. The Dawgnation forum is my favorite. Most of the regulars there are good people and are talking Dawgs. They go off wind at times but for the most part they are knowledgeable CFB fans. Some much more knowledgeable than myself I’ll admit. It’s a free forum so it’s possible you catch some slack, but the regulars there are by far good folks and they would welcome your input.
  11. Haaa, couldn’t have said it better if I were Al Pacino in “scent of a woman.” I agree Oregon will be fine…….likely better! Don’t let the door hit you in the ass USC and UCLA!
  12. I’m not being a smart a$$ at all, just asking what makes you feel this is a positive? You’ve a much better understanding of the program than I. Where is the positive for the Ducks? Again, I don’t intended this as a derogatory question. Just curious bc I’d like to think the same.
  13. Absolutely, and I pray that You Oregon Ducks put it on them every chance you get!
  14. As I said on the pinned thread that I came to before this, “I don’t like it one bit.”
  15. I don’t like it. I don’t like it one bit!
  16. I’ve heard reports that it’s a done deal. What is next for the PAC-12 and Oregon specifically? Is it a done deal? If so I’m certainly disheartened by it.
  17. As far as these changes go, whatever happens, Oregon will be fine. As a Duck pointed out before, Oregon has a strong TV market with Portland and with being a national brand. Heck, I’ve been glued to the TV for every Oregon game I could watch since I was a teenager. Often in GA and often in Ontario, but always on the other side of the country or other side of North America. It’s true it might hurt recruiting a bit initially, and it might send the PAC-12 into panic mode. But things will work out for Oregon. I’m inclined to agree with GrandpaDuck’s sentiments “Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out!” If this happens, whether Oregon follows to the Big 10 or finds another avenue, the Ducks will be fine. Hell, I expect them to be a national powerhouse again soon under Lanning and Co no matter what.
  18. I agree. I was against adding Texas and OU to the SEC. Not for geographical reasons but bc I guess I’m a traditionalist a bit also. I don’t like to see the Big 12 or PAC 12 get their teams poached by stronger conferences. I have a fair understanding of why this is happening, but I don’t like it. I guess change is inevitable so you might as well go with it. I’m sure many CFB fans have been unhappy about the many major changes that have happened in the past.
  19. I hope this doesn’t happen but it’s not surprising. It’s about expanding the television market for the Big 10. They added Rutgers and Maryland before for this reason. Now they want the huge LA market. SEC adding OU and Texas also pushed the Big10 to this more quickly.
  20. Absolutely, beating a good team twice in the same season is rare. In this case, the winner of a second meeting would likely be even harder to predict. We play against each other the first game of the season. Oregon has had a coaching overhaul since last season and GA has had at the very least a personnel overhaul on defense. If we are fortunate enough to meet again in the playoff, it’s likely to be two very different teams than met on Sept. 3. Of coarse I say this discounting any injuries. Also I’ll add this. Yes it’s true GA is favored on Sept. 3. The 17.5 point spread on Sept. 3 is perhaps a bit misleading. The average person placing a bet would have every reason to pick GA without a drastic spread, given that their the defending champs, past recruiting, coaching changes, venue, etc…. So the spread is set as such to even out the betting lines. My point is that the oddsmakers didn’t set this spread bc they think GA is a three score favorite, heck it’s likely they have much less understanding of football than you or I, but they do know how to insure that the house always wins. For the simple fact that they understand how the majority will bet. I think it will be a very good game. Yes, I’m a die hard Dawg fan and a bit of a homer so I firmly believe GA wins. But the spread doesn’t fool me. It’s very possible that this is a highly competitive game. And I hope we do meet again in the playoff. It would make this season very rewarding for me no matter the outcome.
  21. As long as its not a first cousin it’s fair game right……..kidding of course 😁. Nice jab though, at the moment I can’t think of a proper retort for a Pacific Northwesterner. Which adds to your ammo, I mean us southerners talk slow and in this case think slow as well😂. Perhaps it comes to me in time lol. Really though, I’ve pulled for Oregon since I was a kid during the Chip Kelly days. I admit I took notice of the uniforms, but that wasn’t why I started pulling for the Ducks. I think in the beginning it was that I wanted to pull for a PAC-12-10 team that could challenge USC. And Oregon was very good, that and the fact that you guys had a very cool program in the eyes of a teenage CFB fan lead to my allegiance. Nowadays you guys have Dan Lanning, a coach I have grown to respect and think very highly of. That gives me ties to the Ducks on a more personal level. I expect and hope for great things for CDL and the Ducks. It’s coming, selfishly I admit that I hope it starts after Sept. 3. After that …….. Go Ducks!!!
  22. Of the teams not located in the southeast, I will say from personal experience that Oregon, considering the distance, is well represented here. I do see more Ohio State flags and tags, but as someone mentioned, Oregon is a second favorite team for many in this area and most of these fans don’t have Oregon tags on their vehicle.
  23. No I can see that you’re probably right @Charles Fischer. I wasn’t aware he had been there so long.
  24. Absolutely! I believe that Oregon, lead by Lanning and Co, will return to the apex of CFB. If USC also returns, as I suspect is very possible, the PAC-12 will become once again very interesting for the rest of the country, and not just for us hardcore CFB fans. I’m not discounting the Utes. As long as Whittingham is there they will be a force. I’m just not sure they hold onto Whittingham in the future. Big money will almost certainly come calling. Am I wrong in thinking this?
  25. I think Utah and Oregon are deserving of a top 10 preseason ranking all things considered. USC in my opinion doesn’t. I do understand the pundits reacting this way towards USC bc of transfers and coaching changes etc…, but USC was not a good team last season. I’ll be shocked if USC is ranked higher than Oregon after the chips fall this season. It’s easy to think strongly of a former powerhouse such as USC when things are surely trending positively. But IMO they still have to earn it on the field. Which brings my thoughts to Miami. It’s true that Miami in the past has fielded some absolutely dominate teams. But 2003 isn’t the recent past. They haven’t come even close to the old dominating Hurricanes since they left the Big East. They also weren’t a very good team last season. And they also need to earn it on the field. Miami plays aTm early, that game will be telling. I’m not predicting that Miami and USC don’t return to glory soon. But if I had to bet, my money would be on USC making the larger strides in the near future. I think USC has a shot at becoming a powerhouse once again. I’m not so confident that Miami does. Time will tell.
