Will Prime be the Coach of "America's Team" Next Season?
SoGaDawg replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Hell, at this point I’m worried about playing GT. They didn’t get lucky against Miami, they beat them. Brent Key is proving to be a good coach. On the House settlement, yeah looks like it’s happening. I’m not sure what the result there will be? Will the rich just get richer? Also, the firing of the OC and DC kinda tells the tale for Norvell and FSU. -

Agreed, playing a Big 12 schedule isn’t exactly like the SEC or the B1G, but it can get you in this Playoff. I must admit that I’m surprised and a bit impressed though. Is Prime’s heart really in coaching at the college level after his sons are done? Coaching CFB is a very involved job. -

That’s true, he does generate much money, and the Buffs have over performed this season I think. Who knows? Maybe you’re right. I’m still unsure about his coaching abilities, but I must admit he has been successful in every other thing he has done. -

Norvell’s buyout would be about 70 mil give or take if fired after the season. I very much doubt FSU does that. -
I agree with you. I’m assuming that GA dropped so much bc Ole Miss put the beat down on us. Our o-line looked abysmal and really the whole offense has looked suspect to say the least. Saturday will tell the tale. GA is still GA, with tons of talent, but we look very vulnerable right now. If we get the o-line fixed GA is likely the most dangerous team in the country, but if not, I doubt we make the Playoff. Beck needs time or he is a turnover machine, and teams are keying on all the quick screens, and our receivers lead the sec maybe the nation in drops. There is much to improve on and time will tell.

I think that if Penn St. were to somehow dominate tOSU and win by 3 or 4 scores they might think of moving them to 1, but maybe not even then. I see the Ducks staying at 1 so long as they keep winning.

Stop What You're Doing: Joel Klatt Has it Right!
SoGaDawg replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think this is a reasonable Top 10 at the moment. I’m surprisingly looking forward to some of the games this weekend. Some of the matchups are much more interesting than I was expecting. Most notably I’m really looking forward to Notre Dame at Navy. I’d love to see Navy take it to the Irish! Also, of coarse the Ducks game. LSU vs aTm, Mizzou vs Bama, Texas vs Vanderbilt, and several others could be interesting games. I’d like to include Nebraska vs tOSU, but I think that’s just wishful thinking. -
As far as GA going for it late in the fourth, I think I agree with you. I do understand Kirby’s thoughts, being that if you have a chance to make 1 yard to win the game you take it, but in this particular situation I’m inclined to agree with you bc of the way the GA defense was playing and also bc our punter has been very good. Texas was going to need help to win, so don’t take the chance of giving them a short field. Make it as hard as possible.

Oregon Ducks Football: No.1 Slot DESERVED?
SoGaDawg replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yeah that Bama game was a rough one for us. I hate losing it but was delighted to see our guys not get down after such a rough first half. I don’t know if many teams would keep fighting so hard being down 30-7 at the half, so the fact that we actually came back and briefly took a lead is a bit inspiring. I feel like this GA team has ridiculous potential, but we have yet to really play a complete game. Our defense really bailed us out against Texas. If we can’t start playing more consistent it’s certainly not a given for us to make the Playoff. On the other hand, the resilience we showed against Bama is cause for concern for our future opponents. The rest of this season is going to be very interesting. I can hardly wait to see what the Ducks and Dawgs can accomplish. I think both of our teams have a very high ceiling. -

GA has two top 20 wins also with wins against Clemson and Texas, but also a loss to Bama. So the Ducks certainly should be ranked higher. They’ve earned it. -

Unfortunately I must agree with you about my Dawgs passing game. Beck hasn’t been great this season, but our receivers haven’t helped him much either. Way too many drops against Texas. Fortunately our defense came to life and we were able to get the win, but it could have been a blowout had the offense played better. I’m thinking that an Oregan vs Georgia game could be a very good game if it happens in the Playoff. I’m very excited that both my teams have a great shot to make the Playoff. -

Who knows who the best team is, but Oregon absolutely deserves the #1 ranking. Being undefeated with a win against tOSU makes the Ducks very deserving. GA has looked like the best team in the country at times, but have also played poorly at times. The first half against Bama was awful, and honestly our QB Beck has not played to his potential in most games. The Ducks have looked very good and have a very good signature win against the Buckeyes. -
Yeah I feel the same, we always have a tough time with Bama. I feel ok about things though. We haven’t been consistent but it’s obvious that we have big time potential. I think there is a very good chance that the Ducks and Dawgs will meet in the Playoff. I both love it and hate it!!!
-
Your Welcome!!! kidding Oregon should absolutely be #1. I’m excited for the Ducks and Dawgs. I’m not terribly surprised that GA beat Texas, but I’m very happy to see the GA defense start looking like a Kirby Smart defense. I’m not gonna talk any shite about Texas, they are a very good team. I don’t think they were ready for GA. They will likely be better for this loss.

Every School has Culls, and Great Fans...Right?

I hope we can win. We’ve yet to play a complete game, but if we can manage that and not make big mistakes I think we will beat Texas. -

Very classy comment by Buckeyes1010. I’ve yet to be able to watch a game at Autzen, but I’m really looking forward to getting there someday. It’s always amazed me seeing how the crowd noise there has such an impact. Obviously I only say this bc it is so much smaller than some of the huge venues in CFB. I can’t wait to experience it in person someday. Also, I’ve been busy so I’ve yet to post since the game. Huge congratulations to you Ducks!!! This was by far my most enjoyable game of the weekend. You guys were awesome!!! GO DUCKS!!! -
I think the unrestricted transfer portal is causing some unintended problems. There are players that are now opting out or redshirting mid-season to prepare for the portal. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes as teams actively attempt to acquire players from other teams? It’s basically poaching, but teams have to be aggressive. It can be great for the players, but it also has negative qualities being that it seems unrestricted. What are y’all’s thoughts regarding this? Is there a way to address the issues it brings by putting some sort of restrictions on the transfer portal? Can we implement restrictions that are still fair to players, and if so what might they be? Would restrictions even be legal, or would they be thrown out by a court? It kinda seems like the wild wild west when looking at what the portal has become. I’d like to hear the opinions of FishDuck members as I know there are many knowledgeable members on this forum. Am I overreacting or do you folks see a problem as well?

That would be great! I’m looking forward to seeing my Dawgs and my Ducks go at it. In truth though, as much as I love the Ducks, I’m a lifelong GA fan and I could never not pull for my Dawgs. When I do finally make it to Autzen for the first time I want to be able to get decked out in my Ducks attire and experience it as a full fledged Ducks fan. Although, I’d love to also visit with my Dawgs as well. So I guess I’m just gonna have to do both. As I’ve posted many times on this forum, I’ve been a Ducks fan since the early to mid 2000’s. It started in part because I couldn’t stand USC and to me the Ducks were the answer, but I have since grown to become a true Oregon fan and I’ve always rooted for the Ducks since this time. Oregon hiring Dan Lanning was a great cherry on the top of my being a Duck fan, but The Ducks have been my #2 team for a long time and the only other CFB team I consider myself a fan of.
-
Unfortunately no. I’ve never even been to Oregon. I’ve traveled all over the country and Canada for work, actually lived in Canada for years but never had the time for much leisure traveling. I will someday though. I very much want to spend some time in Oregon and unless something happens, I will absolutely see some games in Autzen in the future!

James is awesome! As I’ve stated before, I was really looking forward to watching him play in the Red & Black. In truth though, I very much enjoy watching him tote the rock for the Ducks! James has always been very good, but I think it’s possible we might be witnessing him transition into an in fact Elite RB this season!
-
How loud it gets in Autzen always amazes me. One would think that it couldn’t possibly get nearly as loud as some of the huge stadiums of the B1G or the SEC, but it does. Really cool!!!
-
I really don’t think so. Oregon isn’t overlooking MSU. The Ducks will get this together soon.
-
Well crap. I guess we’re even now (each with red zone touchback turnovers). Let’s go Ducks!!!
-
Man, Jordan James is a great RB! Also, that was well blocked
