  1. There are some pessimistic views about this game. I say a win is a win and the Ducks are doing well. To me DG is playing very good football.
  2. I was watching. Things took a great turn about the time I posted. I was a few mins behind on a recording at the moment though. Thanks for the heads up. I’m unhappy that we lost, but we didn’t fold and showed improvement and looked to have made adjustments well. We still take a loss but things could look worse. When we were down 28-0 we didn’t look at all like a team that would compete for a playoff spot. To say the least, I was concerned.
  3. Well as a GA fan I’m having a terrible day so far. I’m really hoping that as a Duck fan I have a much better day. Come on Ducks give me something to be proud of. GO DUCKS!!!
  4. Nice article Charles, I enjoyed reading it and it was enlightening as I wasn’t able to watch the game. I think I will be able to watch most of the rest of the Ducks games bc I just switched to Hulu live and it appears they will have much better coverage than I was experiencing with Direct TV! Blocking assignments and schemes are an area in football that I’m probably the least educated. Obviously talent is needed and great talent can cover some mistakes, but IMO it’s also extremely important for the O-line to act as one. Having a leader (usually the center) on the line to communicate and call out assignments and responsibilities is crucial I think. Everyone needs to be on the same page all the time or blocks get missed when maybe they shouldn’t. I think this is especially true when you face a defense that is going to use the simulated pressure strategies you spoke of. These defenses are designed to confuse linemen and get them out of position, and if the line isn’t working as one, this strategy can be very effective. You mentioned that Laloulu might could excel at center for the Ducks, is there a reason that he isn’t there already? Do you expect a change coming at center? Again, thanks for the article. It is very informative and interesting.
  5. Good win for the Trojans! It was a much better game than ND and aTm the night before! I don’t think I’d be packing my bags for Indy just yet were I a USC fan but they played well. I thought their defense looked much better, Lynn already making strides. LSU loses their 5th straight opener, I think. Not a good look for BK, especially at the post game presser. Not a good look at all!
  6. Yeah, he is pretty good. I’ve watched his stuff many times.
  7. I’m kinda glad I don’t have the B1G network. What the hell happened?
  8. While I was very impressed with Hunter and Sanders QB, I was very unimpressed with the team. Kinda worried for the health of Hunter this season. He is an outstanding player, maybe the best player in the Nation, but it’s going to be extremely tough to play that many snaps all season. I would hate to see this type of play hurt his career, it would be a terrible shame. NC State didn’t look great either. Maybe some of that is bc it’s the first game?
  9. “He is day to day.” or “He is week to week.” When updating the status of an undisclosed injury or health of a specific player. There was a time when this one would drive me crazy! I mean I understand why this broad of an answer is used, but seriously, does the young man have a mild case of dehydration, perhaps a slight cramp or has he sustained a severe level 4 concussion that could lead to brain damage? Is he going to possibly miss a game rep or two or should I be praying for his friends and family? Obviously I’m kidding a bit, but this type of response used to really get under my skin.
  10. I’m very excited for Bo! I’ve watched him this Preseason and he looks good! I’m not surprised that he looks good, but I’m a bit surprised he looks so good so early. I hope he keeps it up.
  11. Yeah, I didn’t want to say something and ruin the mood, but some of these rankings are mighty suspect! Iowa is a tad high, and Tennessee is a tad low to name a few that might be a bit off.
  12. Yes, I’m afraid you are very right about this! The man is a good coach, and he isn’t likely to ever want for talent at Bama. He is going to very likely be a thorn in both of our sides in the coming years.
  13. I love watching these kids play in the Little League World Series!!! Great game on now with the Northwest taking on the Southeast!!! Sure the Northwest team is from Washington, but I figured you guys still might pull for them. Heck, most of the Southeast team are basically Florida Gators, but I’m still pulling for them!!!

  14. If you win a conference championship you likely won’t host a game, I think you get a bye as a top 4 conference champion. I think it’s 5-8 that will host, but correct me if I’m wrong. I would much rather win the conference and skip the first round of the Playoff. That is going to be very tough in the SEC this season though.
  15. I agree, but if you go undefeated in the regular season, you make the Playoff!!!
  16. This is exactly what I was thinking. The Heisman would be great, but not at the expense of the team. I’d love to see Gabriel or Beck win, but I’d rather see the Ducks and Dawgs have great seasons.
  17. Perhaps he is comparing them to last season’s USCw defense. They really wouldn’t need to play very well to be a vast improvement. They gave up a ton of points last season, absolutely terrible. Truthfully though, they should be much improved. Lynn should have them playing much better in time.
  18. As stated above, I disagree. I don’t think we would lose every game. It’s a pointless debate anyway though, it’s never going to happen.
  19. I disagree, we wouldn’t lose every game.
  20. Sure we would. We won medals every time we’ve competed as amateurs. Nine gold medals playing amateurs.
  21. I’m not old enough to remember that, but that’s certainly what I’ve heard from my Dad and older friends. The Soviets saw it as another way to prove to their people that the Soviet Union was better than the USA.
  22. There is no sure antidote for superior talent! Just ask TCU or FSU.
  23. I kinda wish we would go back to playing amateurs. As in the top college players. It’s kinda cool to see our NBA players, but anything short of gold is a massive disappointment. If we played our top college players it would be more interesting to me and mean more to win gold.
  24. I understand your point, but in football there are many instances where a head coach has to make a decision and will be thought a genius or an idiot depending on the outcome. As for me, I try to understand that that the HC has more info than I do so I hope that there is always a good reason that he makes a decision that I think was stupid after the fact. Who really knows though, it’s likely sometimes a HC just gets aggressive and it doesn’t work out. Being aggressive isn’t the worst trait for a HC IMO though.
  25. I think 11-1 is very doable for the Ducks. There are some tough games but other than maybe the Ohio St game, Oregon is likely favored in the rest for now. Of course, every very good team usually plays 1 or 2 out of character bad games a season, so only time will tell. I do think 11-1 is a reasonable optimistic goal. 11-1 is the goal I have for my Dawgs as well. Sure it’s been awhile since we’ve lost a regular season game, but our schedule is brutal. I’ll be very happy if we get through it at 11-1 without being too beat up at the end of the regular season.
