Interesting Analysis of USC vs Oregon from Hythloday1...
Oregon’s defensive line wrecked havoc on USC’s offense all night long. They were making Caleb Williams extremely uncomfortable and frustrating him the entire game. The only thing that saved USC was Caleb’s magical improvisational skills and pin point accuracy throwing on the run (dude’s a baller!). Even when the D-line didn’t get to Williams, they were around him, making their presence known, and knocked him to the ground on numerous occasions. Oregon’s D-line is the best it’s been in years and the future is extremely bright given the play of the freshman and the high school commits coming in. Go Ducks!

Never Read This About Oregon...NEVER
Kelly Dillingham recently compared Oregon's defensive line to Georgia's last year in terms of physicality and toughness. Our coaches, starting with Lanning, are obviously focusing on this with the entire team but it all starts up front with both the offensive and defensive lines. Notable quotes from Arizona State HC Kenny Dillingham ahead of showdown against No. 6 Oregon 247SPORTS.COM

If I Were Lanning?
So have Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Penn, Chicago, Army, Illinois and Cornell. Guess we should be worried about those programs too…

If I Were Lanning?
Especially since Stein has done a great job developing Ty Thompson this year, from what we’ve seen in games. I’m sure Oregon could hire another great OC but I don’t love the idea that our players will have to learn another coach/system for the 3rd time in 3 years. Perhaps Stein (and his family?) miss Texas or he is close to Traylor? I hope he stays until he gets a head coaching opportunity.

If I Were Lanning?
“Fisher had no ties to Texas when hired and by most accounts didn't really fit in. That would not be the case for the two co-favorites to replace him in UTSA's Jeff Traylor and Duke's Mike Elko. The latter is about as Texas-centric as coach can get. The East Texas native got his start at Gilmer High, leading it to three state championships and two runner-up finishes while winning Texas high school coach of the year honors four times.” I’m more concerned with losing Will Stein, if Jeff Traylor is hired by ATM than I am in losing Lanning. Stein was on Traylor’s staff at UTSA and has Texas ties. That is BIG in Texas. I agree with others that the Texas A&M job is not that great (ask Jimbo Fisher). They haven’t won a conference championship since the late 1990s.

Oregon Special Teams -- What's Up With Camden Lewis?
Camden Lewis's 2023 stats: 20-29 yards: 4-4 30-39 yards: 2-3 40-49 yards: 3-6 50+ yards: 0-1 If Oregon is faced with a 40-49 yard field goal, it's 50/50 that he'll make it (note: if the game is on the line, the odds are probably even less). Since Lewis missed the game-tying field goal at Washington, he is 0-3 for field goals longer than 40 yards. He's nearly perfect from under 40 yards.

Why not go and hire Jonathan Smith? I'm sure our friends in Corvallis wouldn't mind...

Canes Duck Envy Continues
"We're paying the dude $8 million/year and got curb stomped by MTSU, Duke, FSU and Pitt last year, then we literally gave the game to GT this year...sport Lanning won 10 games last year and will win at least 10-11 games this year...Wario is 11-11 in nearly 2 full years"

Canes Duck Envy Continues
What's even funnier is that some of them believe that if Oregon and Miami switched QBs that they would be us! You can give Miami Patrick Mahomes and I'd still like Lanning's shot at beating a Mario Cristobal team. He'd probably just have Mahomes hand the ball off to the RB for runs up the middle all game.

How dare you compare Lanning to that bunch!!!

Coach Dan Lanning Named Among Leading Candidate for Texas A&M Job
Texas A&M may not even be a top 5 job in the new SEC. I would put Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and Oklahoma ahead of Texas A&M. You could argue that LSU and Florida are more attractive destinations. Nationally, I would also put Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Clemson and USC above Texas A&M. I wouldn't even put Texas A&M in the top 10 college football jobs. Texas A&M hasn't won a conference championship since 1998!!!

Oregon Special Teams -- What's Up With Camden Lewis?
With all due respect, he has had a month since the missed kick against UW to bounce back. How much more time do you give him? Are you willing to potentially lose a game, for a team with national championship aspirations, to stick with a kicker who appears to be in his own head? I'm not as confident that he'll be able to fix this issue during the season and I wouldn't put a game in his hands (or foot). I would: 1) Give one of the other two kickers on the roster a chance in the ASU game, assuming that they have looked competent in practice. 2) If I don't feel confident in the other kickers, I would start going for every critical 4th down on offense, unless it's a straight ahead kick under 40 yards. Lewis can still handle kickoff duties.

Oregon Special Teams -- What's Up With Camden Lewis?
The roster shows 3 place-kickers; Andrew Boyle98 PK 6' 2" 200 lbs JR Camas, WA Camden Lewis49 PK 5' 10" 205 lbs SR Charlotte, NC Grant Meadors93 PK 5' 11" 180 lbs FR Bakersfield, CA It might be worth giving someone else a shot in the ASU game. Camden Lewis appears to have a case of the yips and I would not trust him to make a critical field goal to win or tie a game right now. Don't be surprised if Dan Lanning goes for a critical 4th down instead of kicking a field goal.

But that doesn't stop the media from constantly talking and writing about it, and players will continue to see and hear it. The screenshot that I posted above was from the front page of espn.com. Oregon does not need any distractions right now.

Duck Game vs. Arizona State: Nov. 18, 1:00PT, FOX
I’m really looking forward to that UW vs. OSU game. If OSU wins, Oregon could end the season playing two top 10 teams.

Is THIS What the B1G Really Wanted?
This. USC stabbed the PAC-12 in the back. Instead of speaking with the commissioner about their concerns, they secretly orchestrated their exit to the B1G. The PAC would have survived if UCLA didn’t tag along with USC, IMO.

Coach Dan Lanning Named Among Leading Candidate for Texas A&M Job
Would Deion Sanders be a candidate for A&M? With ATM’s NIL, seems like he could kill it on the recruiting front, and he seems like he would relish the challenge.

Coach Dan Lanning Named Among Leading Candidate for Texas A&M Job
You shut it down right away to prevent it from becoming a distraction to your current team, who is trying to win a conference championship and earn a spot in the playoffs.

11/11/2023 - Other Games of Interest
Same here. What some Duck fans aren’t thinking about is what if an undefeated Washington beats Oregon in the conference championship game and goes on to win the national championship. We’ll have to deal with more arrogance from those leg humpers up north for years to come. No, thank you. Go Utes and Beavs.
