  1. Ok, Oregon didn't look their best in this game, but it was in a hostile environment, heaving rain with wind through most of the game. Oregon held Washington to 166 total yards (111 passing, and 55 rushing) and only 7 first downs compare to Oregon's 427 total yards (only 98 of those yards passing) and 22 first downs. That was Washington's lowest total yards that any team held them at in spite of still having injuries and having to shift defensive players around due to those injuries. I have to admit, wishing the Ducks punched it in for more points at the end of the game when they had the chance. Yesterday's games, other than Georgia, had struggles. Cincy struggled with Tulane, MSU lost to Purdue, Alabama did not look all that great against LSU and neither did Ohio St. against Nebraska. We are the ones that had to deal with terrible weather. I do not understand this predictor at all. Doesn't make sense. If Oregon wins out as well as Pac12 championship should show higher percentage on the predictor. Again, do not understand how they come to this prediction. Wish we did not have that blemish of a lost with Stanford, but the only thing we can do is take care of business and win all our remaining games and conference championship. Hopefully will be able to be one of the top 4 teams invited to the invitational playoffs. In my thinking Oregon should move up to the 3rd spot, but who knows how this committee will place us. Go Ducks!!!
  2. lol, love the dancing duck Haywarduck. I am thrilled seeing progress with the schemes on the football field. Hoping to see the Ducks continue to peek at the right time moving forward, especially with Utah on our schedule. Thanks For the article!
  3. Fun read below. There is a podcast as well. Rivalry week with Washington. https://www.oregonlive.com/sports/john_canzano/2021/11/softy-from-kjr-sounds-off-on-oregon-vs-washington-we-hate-you-you-hate-us.html Dave “Softy” Mahler hosts a radio show for KJR in Seattle. He joined me on Wednesday for a 1-on-1 interview about the upcoming Oregon vs. Washington football game. It didn’t disappoint. On Jimmy Lake’s slap at Oregon this week: “They’re absolutely a recruiting rival. I think Jimmy got kind of caught a little bit. I think he was trying to take a fun little shot at Oregon and their lack of academic prowess if you will compared to places like UW and Stanford and Cal and Notre Dame and it just didn’t land right. I got no problem with that. I got no problem with coaches taking shots at schools. I thought what Michael Schill told you was brilliant. I love that stuff. I think we need more of that in this rivalry. I am so sick and tired of the political correctness that has snuck into rivalries. The best thing we can do is governors and mayors betting salmon and cheese the week before a game. Forget that stuff. We hate you. You hate us.” On whether Oregon vs. Washington is a rivalry when the Ducks have won 16 of the last 20: “You tweeted out the record between Oregon and UW in the last 20 years. Do you do that before the Ducks play Arizona? Do you do that before they play Stanford? Do you do that before they play UCLA? Or Washington State? Of course you don’t. Why? Because you don’t give a damn. That’s why. This is the greatest thing that has happened to Oregon football in the past 30 years and don’t even try to say something different. Never mind the BCS national championship game, the Final Four, the Rose Bowls, Mariota’s Heisman trophy, blah, blah, blah. All of that, you know it and your listeners know all that is secondary to the dominance that Oregon has established over Washington in the last 20 years. That is the absolute No. 1 thing. That is your favorite thing if you’re an Oregon fan that has happened in the last 25 years... nothing else is a close second.” The interview was entertaining, informative and worth your time.
  4. Wow, surprisingly shocked. Glad, but shocked. I was hoping Oregon would be ahead of Ohio St., but was thinking they would be at number 5. So glad they are in the top 4!! Come on Oregon, win the rest of your games convincingly including Pac12 championship. I am encouraged with the last two games Oregon has played offensively, especially how the front line has played. Hoping the defense with getting more players back will play strong through out all 4 quarters the rest of the way. I have to admit, was surprised where Oklahoma landed.
  5. By Jon Wilner | Bay Area News Group It’s right there, in the first sentence of the College Football Playoff’s founding document: “Establish a committee that will be instructed to place an emphasis on winning conference championships, strength of schedule and head‐to‐head competition when comparing teams with similar records and pedigree.” From Jon Wilner above about the debate between Oregon and Ohio St (as we all been saying). We will see how the committee will vote. Someone on this blog, can't remember now, said this is not a playoff, but an invitation. I personally feel they should not call this a playoff, but an invitational. Maybe down the road the other conference not named SEC/ESPN will revolt and pull away from this invitational and form a real playoff system. Just my opinion that most likely will never come true. All Oregon can do is win every game that is left on the schedule! Go Ducks!
  6. I do despise Pac12 after dark. That has got to change when contract is up. On the East coast time for this game.....thank goodness for recording! These night time games are never good for Pac12 teams.
  7. This is why I never cared for how college playoff system operates. it would be great if there could ever be a true playoff system, but alas not sure if that will ever happen. Too much corruption.
  8. Playoff committee needs to own up on the protocols they have established. At this time as mention before: OSU: SOR: 20th SOS: 93rd Oregon: SOR: 12th SOS: 15th Head to Head competition, Oregon won. That's the facts.
  9. Great find Charles. I hope the PO committee is listening to the outcry of the travesty that continues to be in these bias polls and make things right. If not, I hope the outcries become even more vocal. If you have identical record the tie breaker should always be head to head in the decision making. Again, at this time the facts show Oregon has the better SOR and SOS than Ohio St. along with the head to head win over Ohio St I feel it's important that Oregon is put ahead of Ohio St. in the first poll coming out on Tuesday. If the committee puts Ohio St. ahead of Oregon, how is Oregon going to ever jump Ohio St. if they both win out. The committee should owe up that head to head matters. If they don't, just show case the proof this whole playoff is a farce.
  10. The powers there be in the Pac12 always seem to be inept in making the right decisions
  11. Interesting. Watched Pac12 after dark. They were showing the following resume comparison: Ohio St. Record: 7-1 Strength of Record: 20th Strength of Schedule: 93rd Oregon: Record: 7-1 Strength of Record: 12th Strength of Schedule: 15th Since Oregon beat Ohio St. head to head and comparing what's stated above Oregon should be ahead of Ohio St. in the first CFP Poll release on Tuesday. I get tired of the eye candy spin the ESPNs and others trying to influence Ohio St. to be one of the teams in the playoffs trying to disannul what happen in that 2nd game of the season. I know Ohio St. will be facing stiffer competition as they did with Penn St., but if both teams win out, Oregon should be ahead due to the head to head win. Just my opinion.
  12. Ugh! Hate this. We are never given reasons as to why they leave. He is only a freshman. Just getting started.
  13. I agree with Haywarduck. AB was not my first choice as starting QB. I would have prefer him to be the backup QB instead. But he is the starting QB. If it wasn't for a few bad decisions he played very well in the UCLA game. Towards the end of the game and Oregon was moving well down the field, I would have preferred them to either ran the ball or made short passes to take more time off the clock and then try to score with a TD or FG. I never agree to the home team to be booed by their own fans. I feel it's counter productive. The team feeds off of the atmosphere, it should always be positive spurring them on, not negative. Just my opinion.
  14. Wow Charles. The prediction you mentioned that Moorhead will leave Oregon and Mastro will be elevated to "Supreme Yes-Man as the OC, very depressing! Even my green tinted glasses won't get me past that one if it comes true. Just that thought makes me cringe in fear. Love Jon's upbeat prediction! JM will be present as the OC, more players coming back from injuries, Oregon will look more like the team that beat Ohio St. on both sides of the ball. They will find a way in each remaining Pac12 games, including the Pac12 championship to pull out the wins. 12-1 35 24
  15. Hopefully with Alex Forsyth, Mase Funa, DJ James, Trey Benson are all expected to play at UCLA's game along with Joe Moorhead will help or cause to pull out a win.
  16. Let's put this in perspective. Iowa lost to Purdue at home 24 to 7. A lot of upsets this year against high ranking teams. This is the year for upsets due to super seniors being on a lot of teams. I am happy Oregon is winning most of their games, not pretty, but winning. This team has been bitten by a lot of injuries this year. In that Stanford game, as we all know, Oregon had missing players for this game including our OC and lost in OT. It did not help in that game with questionable penalties by the refs, plus poor coaching decisions towards the end of regular game time. But, I thought Oregon was still going to win that game. Again look what has happen across the landscape in big time upsets. I agree with you, if Oregon can win every game for now on, even if it is not pretty, I will be stoked! Go Ducks. Love this forum. Thanks Charles!
  17. Wow. When does the injuries stop? GO DUCKS, win out tonight!!
  18. You are correct without JM. According to the one report Jim Mastro called the plays in Oregon’s 31-24 overtime loss to Stanford. If Moorhead doesn’t return for the Friday game Mastro will continue to call UO’s offense.
  19. I believe Chip Kelly would not have gone with AB. He would have went with TT. Used maybe RA or JB as the backup, but have AB help guide the other QBs due to his experience. But, not sure if Chip would have used the transfer portal to get AB with the talent of QBs already on his list to use. I think with having the week off and playing CAL the following week, this would have been a good opportunity to prepare TT to play the majority of the game against CAL. As someone said, CAL will stack the box due to AB's inaccuracies in the passing game. With TT the threat is there to burn CAL in the passing game. Would make a difference in the running game.
  20. Just read about this. In JM's absents in the Stanford game running backs coach Jim Mastro called the plays in Oregon’s 31-24 overtime loss to Stanford. If Moorhead doesn’t return on Friday (7:30 p.m., ESPN), Mastro will continue to call UO’s offense and a different staff member will oversee the running back rotation. No wonder. Let's all hope JM is back for the CAL game.
  21. I was thinking the same thing. Not sure the polls justification ranking Ohio St. that high?
  22. Interesting thought on Noah Sewell. I'm assuming you would have him play on both sides of the ball and only bring him in on short down runs for first downs and TDs?
  23. Hopefully changes will be made before the CAL game. Put in Cardwell and Benson to help Dye out. Both of those guys are comparable to Verdell in stature. They are talented. Would this be a good time to bring in a new QB, especially since we had a bye week and playing CAL at home? AB has proven he cannot be relied on in the passing game. Go Ducks, win out!.
