2024 Football Recruits...Announcements, Updates (No. 2)
On3 Expert Logs Oregon Prediction for Four-Star ATH Last weekend Oregon hosted one of the top athletes in the country for a multi-day visit. Calabasas (Calif.) two-way star Aaron Butler is the nation’s No. 86 overall player and No. 4 ranked athlete in the country. The 5-foot-11, 165-pounder can play on both sides of the ball but prefers playing offense at wide receiver. Alabama, Georgia, Arizona and Colorado are four programs also in the mix for the versatile play-maker. However on Thursday morning, On3’s director of recruiting Chad Simmons, logged a prediction. Simmons talked about his decision to log a prediction for Oregon on ScoopDuck. “I’m told by a source that he had a “very good” visit to Eugene and that the Ducks will receive an OV.” Simmons had a prediction for Georgia previously before moving to Oregon. His confidence remains a bit low however, at 50% confidence currently. There are still two other predictions in favor of Georgia currently. But Simmons notes his official visit to Georgia this weekend is off the table for now. He’s set to take an official visit to Colorado the weekend of April 22. Could Oregon be in line for the speedster? Butler is currently talking about a July decision and right now the momentum seems to be in favor of Oregon. PAC-10 New Media Deal - Damn the Doubters and Take Heart
Since there was a lot of conversation about the CW, thought I put this out there. "It looks like one reported suitor for Pac-12 rights may not be all that interested. Last week, Stewart Mandel and Max Olson of The Athletic reported that “there have been recent discussions between the Pac-12 and The CW,” raising the possibility of the conference joining LIV Golf in sports events on that network. But John Ourand of Sports Business Journal wrote in his newsletter Monday that while there were indeed Pac-12 talks with The CW, they’re not expected to lead to anything:" There's now reportedly 'little chance' The CW gets Pac-12 rights AWFULANNOUNCING.COM As per John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, Pac-12 talks with The CW "never got serious," and the network is not likely to land rights.

Men's Basketball Recruiting
Report: Ducks expecting visit from Arizona State's Devan Cambridge Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks appear to be making a strong push in the transfer portal as of late. Last weekend, the Ducks reportedly hosted Dalton Knecht, one of the top players available on an official visit, and they will be doing the same with Arizona State guard Devan Cambridge this coming weekend, per a report from Jon Rothstein. Altman has lost a handful of players to the portal so far this season, including Kel’el Ware, Tyrone Williams, Rivaldo Soares, and Lök Wur. While they added Jadrian Tracey to the mix, it’s easy to believe that more incoming transfer will come over the next several weeks for Oregon. Transfer Portal: Players of Interest
Former USC WR Gary Bryant finished with visits, eyes May decision as three schools stand out Oregon continues to push hard and remains a serious contender. “Gary feels really comfortable with Junior Adams (WR coach),” Bryant said. “He has known him since high school and he’s a very genuine person that we like and trust. “Oregon has a lot of receivers but Troy Franklin is the main guy who has established himself and they feel Gary would be a great complement to him. Plus they want Gary returning punts and kicks and that’s something he really wants to do to showcase that part of his game. Coach Lanning reaches out as well and the whole staff is coming hard and being very aggressive.” Former USC WR Gary Bryant finished with visits, eyes May decision as three schools stand out 247SPORTS.COM Following his final official visit to Texas A&M, there has been some shuffling at the top of the board for the top uncommitted player in the 2023 transfer portal.

Tez Johnson, Traeshon Holden bringing healthy competition to Ducks' WR room One of the several areas on the Oregon Ducks’ 2023 roster that can stand to add a couple of pieces going forward is the wide receiver position. After losing a handful of players over the last two years, Dan Lanning and Co. have done a nice, job of adding some talented players, but they still have room to grow, especially when it comes to depth. This offseason, both Traeshon Holden and Tez Johnson were added to the roster. Each presents a different skill set — Holden is more of a big-bodied, physical receiver, while Johnson’s slight frame allows him unique speed and agility in open space — but both can provide major upsides for the Oregon offense. Oregon Football: Ducks bringing healthy competition to WR room DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM With Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden now fighting for targets in the WR room, Bo Nix knows that the end result will be everyone getting better.

Oregon DB Target Miles Lockhart Sets Decision Date A well-known cornerback target is set to come off the board in early Summer. Basha (Ariz.) three-star corner Miles Lockhart has announced a commitment date of July 6. The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder is the No. 403 ranked player nationally but the No. 8 ranked player in the state of Arizona per the On3 Industry Rankings. In an earlier interview with On3’s Chad Simmons, Lockhart had mentioned Oregon, Ohio State, Washington, Utah and Northwestern as schools that had pulled ahead in his recruitment. Currently the Buckeyes lead the On3 RPM with nearly 97% chance to land Lockhart. Following his Oregon visit in January, Lockhart told ScoopDuck’s Sean Nelson why the Ducks were one of his top choices. “I like that they always keep it real and they also treat not only me but my family great,” he said. “I talk with them almost every other day.” Oregon signee Cole Martin is a big reason why the Ducks have a great chance at landing Lockhart. “Cole is like my blood brother, literally,” he said. “We call all the time.” Currently the only set official visit is to Ohio State on June 16. Lockhart previously told Nelson the Ducks would also get an official visit prior to his decision. 2024 Football Recruits...Announcements, Updates (No. 2)
War Daddy Recruit: Speed demon Gatlin Bair is a 'homegrown Idaho unicorn' coveted far and wide RARE Academy founder and coach with 208 Platinum Premier 7v7, Juss Jackson, first talked about Bair when he was a freshman, saying to keep an eye on the speedster. A year later, Bair was shining on the 7v7 circuit for Jackson and Williams-Rhodes and then earned WR MVP honors at the Gem State Showcase last summer in front of a slew of coaches. "Gatlin has the length you want, the speed, hands and the football IQ and sense for the game that you don’t normally find in Idaho," Jackson said. WHY GATLIN BAIR IS A NAME TO KNOW IN 2024 Speed kills. And Bair has plenty of it. The highest-rated prospect to ever come from the state of Idaho, out of tiny Burley (population: 12,000), Bair has big-city speed that has him among the most coveted recruits the Gem State has ever seen. Last weekend, at the Texas Relays, he ran a blazing 10.18 in the 100m, a personal best. Earlier this spring, he beat California's defending 100m and 200m champion, Rodrick Pleasant, an Oregon signee, in an indoor 60m race. But it's not just on the track where he shines- its on the football field too. As a junior, he caught 73 passes for 1,073 yards and had an impressive 18 touchdown receptions. He also averaged 70 yards a pass- he threw one pass all year, for a 70-yard touchdown and a perfect 1.000% completion percentage. Defensively, he added an interception and then averaged 35.6 yards a kickoff return. How big of a recruit is he in a national context? Bair is a four-star in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, and is ranked highest in the industry at 247Sports, which puts him as the No. 40 overall player in the country, the highest a player from Idaho has been rated, the No. 9 receiver nationally in a loaded group of pass-catchers and the No. 1 prospect in Idaho in 2024. He has already been selected to play in the 2024 All-American Bowl in San Antonio. So yeah, Bair is big-time. OREGON DUCKS With Bair's track exploits, naturally Oregon is making a push for him. While he's an elite sprinter, track isn't the priority for him like other elite track athletes, but a year after signing Rodrick Pleasant, who is the fastest football player in California, Oregon wouldn't mind making it consecutive classes with an elite sprinter. Receivers coach Junior Adams coached Williams-Rhodes at Boise State and he has plenty of knowledge of the state of Idaho from his time with the Broncos. Adams has been running point on Bair's recruitment and in 2023 signed Bair's 7v7 teammate and fellow Idaho standout Kenyon Sadiq, a top 100 prospect nationally and the No. 1 prospect in Idaho in 2023. He wouldn't mind back-to-back No. 1 players from Idaho either. War Daddy Recruit: Speed demon Gatlin Bair is a 'homegrown Idaho unicorn' coveted far and wide 247SPORTS.COM The Northwest's No. 1 rated prospect Gatlin Bair has one of the most unique recruitments in the current cycle and is choosing between a who's who of elite programs.

Sources: Pac-12 TV Deal Expected Later This Spring or Summer
The timeline for the Pac-12's upcoming television deal is coming into focus, and sources told ESPN on Thursday that no deal is expected for a few more months. The Pac-12 remains engaged with multiple media partners, per sources. Those include streaming services, which have developed a reputation for deliberate contract negotiations, in part because they don't have the same decades of experience in the space as traditional networks. The timeline of their deal, as currently expected, appears to be in line with how the Big Ten's timeline unfolded. The Big Ten's deal was announced in August, nearly a year from when the new one would come into fruition. Sources - Pac-12 TV deal expected later this spring or summer WWW.ESPN.COM A timeline for the Pac-12's upcoming television deal is coming into focus and is expected sometime later this spring or summer, sources told ESPN on Thursday.
