Coincidence that this happened in the same month I joined as a moderator?  Hmmm...

Kurt Rambis always did instill a certain level of fear in others...  😛

Kurt rambles, please, everyone knows it’s my motivational speaking that provides the impetus for exceptional behavior as attested by the well known fact that many members of the forum have actually achieved and amounted to and in some cases gone well beyond “jack squat”.

Well, to be perfectly frank, this ISN'T a football forum.

It’s possibly Virtual Rehab for addiction to Quack.

Or perhaps Charles and authors are the pusher peddler enabling purveyor of addictive substances and we’re just a bunch of addicted users on the virtual burnside of the interweb looking for our next Duck football fix.

  3. Where do the ducks stand now with regards to team speed compared to previously fast Duck teams and compared to presently elite teams?

Last year Ducks were relatively slow at WR RB QB and didn’t really utilize the available speed of the TEs.

This years team looks much faster on offense.

How fast are the 2022 Ducks and who are the top 5-10 or so fastest players and are they even 1st string?

    • Great post! 1
  4. None of them were dominant. VM had one decent year but neither he nor the other not drafted Ducks has NFL speed. Devon consistently underachieved. Verdell is undersized and has no nfl top end speed.

These guys should be milking college and grad school and play 6 years like George Moore so when it is all over life’s just beginning instead of crashing down.

    NFL means not for long.

  5. You can’t replace Bo Nix game experience and the advantages it provides over Butters and Ty.

Butters admitted nerves playing in front of a crowd for the guest time since HS. Spring game adoring home crowd and only teammates is a far cry from Atlanta.

TY has every physical tool but the game/offense  is still fast to him.

    They both need playing time

At this point barring miraculous gains from Butters and TY and a regression from Nix, I just don’t see anyone starting other than Nix.

  6. Did the Ducks just throw downfield more than the entire last season?

Did the Ducks commit fewer false starts than during the previous regular season under the previously vaunted offensive line gurus?

Did the Ducks finally look explosive, run more tempo than during the entire MC tenure?

Is DJ Johnson going to be better than Thibs?

When healthy is this Dline going to look massively talented and physical? 40 sacks?

Split squad, guys out, hard to tell. Promising however

The Pound puppies lost a very nice DLineman. D line MAN.

Oregon has Multiple talented receivers and Tight ends from 6’3 and up.

By Fall the offense might line up 5 across above 6’4” with several 6’5”. Red zone, 2pt.

    Cota belongs.

Trikweze and Addison look the part. Jalil flashed. Greenfield!!

cam was short but true. Special teams already better.

It’s clear to me that more Development is happening and that guys are buying in. I’m excited at the thought of how motivated they all might be these next months before fall camp.

How hard will each player work and will they take real professional level ownership.

It’s what the champions do. Champions have superior talent but usually also outwork their opponents and create noticeable separation.

Big things brewing in Eugene. I’m taking the Ducks and 15.

I will concede that the trojans have a recruiting advantage over any team in the Pack

    I cannot concede that point.

True So Cal has the volume of Athletes close by and that provides some small advantage. But MC recruited So Cal and so will DL and staff.

However oregon has a better stadium campus facilities and football operations. The investment into facilities, training resources, medical and the like is a big draw to Oregon. USC does not presently compare.

Nike and the NIL efforts of others are solid

USC sits in a ghetto that is getting worse by the week and despite Trojan wire angst, LA ain’t no college town.

I will however concede the weather, women, food, and access to entertainment which could easily be viewed as potential distractions and sources of de motivation for dedication to football. No shortage of SC players getting in trouble over the years. However shooting at people from cars is totally normal so they got that going for them.

I feel blessed Oregon has a great new staff, a increasingly talented roster, the facilities-better than others, and a coaching staff that looks perhaps more motivated than The university of second choice, n  spoiled children.

USC ain’t got no Fish Duck either.

  9. How much of Riley’s success at OU was a a result of what Bob Stoops built?

How much of things outside of Riley’s making led to their success?

USC is a rebuild with some talent. It’s nothing like what Riley inherited.

Lincoln is building a new culture and exchanging a roster for his own. It may not happen overnight.

Not only will it take time for USC to change the roster but coach em up.

One coach tailored practice to watch the masters. Another coach kept his head down

cant say that made the Conerly difference but I’m yet to be nervous about usc football dominance quite yet.

Wrathis......I'm a fan of college football in general. I attended USC and Illinois but lived just a few miles from Oregon for many years.

Got to be a fan of all three programs.....it was easy because they all had good runs at one point or another.

As for the hate on the Trojans.....you ain't seen nothing if you have not been on a Trojan site when they describe Oregon. I will not repeat the junk.

Its all in fun as far as I'm concerned.

Just want the kids to have a good experience, make some friends, stay healthy, get a few bucks(in today's game its easier) and execute well.

My best day is a USC vs Oregon game in which they both play well..........as for who I would root for........the better team. I want a Pac 12 team to get to the big show every year. Lately that has been Oregon. There are going to be some great games the next few years as SC finally has a coach that has banned the ice cream truck at practice.

IMO.......Both USC and Oregon have recently improved their chances......Helton was a overall huckster and Cristobal was a great recruiter but a miserable game coach.

I’d don’t have the hate for SC though I do love to taunt my SC Alumni friends whenever the opportunity arises

I was accepted at USC, my brother was an academic all American Golfer at SC. I even rooted for them on occasion.

However, when on my visit to USC,  the stabbing I witnessed going to manny’s for a machaca double wrap burrito made me pick Eugene.

  11. It nearly as amusing as hearing huskies howl.

When you “reach” to make assumptions as some kind of motivating source for players, the only thing you are saying is that USC doesn’t play with full effort unless emotionally triggered by others indirect statements that aren’t even directed at you.

That article basically said USC fans are looking to be upset because they know the team has been lazy and weak for years.

  12. It wasn’t overnight but I’m sensing changes in my level of confidence that this coaching staff is far more dynamic than the previous.

Dillingham ;“There's nothing wrong with that philosophy it's just not the philosophy I have. I want to try to put our players in the best position to win one on ones with guys as far away from them as possible in the run game.

"If those guys get too close, we're gonna have to get out of that play, trying to get ourselves in a better play with better numbers, better angles, and better grass."

Theres a lot to unpack from that quote. Can any one point to that level of flexibility in anything MC ever did?

This coaching staff are dynamic football minds. Right or wrong good or bad yet to be determined but they look at thing differently than the previous admin.

Better play  Better  angles Better  Grass

    Better Grass Ahead indeed.

  13. It’s not too different than the pros.

Rich QB.  Lower pay on the o lines.

Comes down to culture on the team.

Nobody benefits by not playing hard and unlike the NFL you will get benched even if making big NIL money for poor effort.

College is turning into the minor leagues.

while they might be less mature and may do exactly as you say I suspect they will get coached up on exactly these types of things and it won’t matter on game day. Really comes down to the group values aka culture.

she may be making more that if she was in the WNBA.

I think as NIL develops some players will recognize the ability to earn significant amounts that make them reconsider the timing to the pros. Good but not yet elite players can maximize the scholarship training and earn possibly significant money. I believe some will recognize the opportunity to stay may pay.

  15. Speed.

Speed once set Oregon apart and made the Ducks a dangerous opponent. Speed kills and creates explosive plays.

Oregon signed a SET of tall ultra fast talented DB prospects that already have what you can’t coach. Speed.

It looks like the offense wants to run a lot of plays. Go fast. Be efficient. Pressure with explosive plays. Sounds like more Points.

I’m pretty impressed with the recruiting by Lanning and the staff.

With limited time and well behind others they did some really nice things. Likely not done.

Looking forward to see how they coach em up and how these guys are “in game” as coaches. Week one will be an interesting barometer.

    Great day today. Go Ducks.
