however, they are built in such a way to avoid a straight up shoot out.
Agreed. But watching some of the deep throws the defense has given up makes me leery of teams like tosu who Chuck it all over to great receivers and with consistent success.
KT and an improved D line sure helps prevent opposing QBs from having enough time and hope that does the trick going go forward with some improved man coverage.

Great post and response.
This team is resilient and unified and getting better each week. Healthier too. Big challenges ahead for sure but lots of tough games and several comebacks help the confidence.
Georgia Alabama and others are not so far ahead as to be invincible. Alabama had 6 yards rushing the other week. Stetson Bennet isn’t special fast and the Georgia O isn’t Dominant. Tosu was beatable at home without the Ducks best player. No team is far ahead of the others.
I like to remember so many teams I’ve witnessed win championships do so because of the momentum and confidence gained at the end of a season. Those playing best often win even if they weren’t the best all year.
1-0
just go 1-0

Please disagree with me if you feel I have gotten something wrong. I always love to talk about this stuff.
The only people who think you’re wrong work for ESPN. How could you possibly rank a one loss Oregon ahead of three loss Utah? 19? 19!!!
However, I shot and have marinaded a crow yesterday just in case my confidence in this weekend is misguided.
Ducks are a better more complete team. But I do wonder if the Ducks could win a high scoring shootout.

As Evidenced by the recent string of prolific hires and championships won.
Washington, where every husky pup thinks the W means winner, before ever winning a game. Participation trophy’s for everyone, yeah.
This Hire will likely be a comedy. The USC job will lure the better candidates and at this point the WSU job looks better. Then again somebody might like rainy days on lake prowess.-

Now I imagine Morehead will install plenty of....

I think that both coordinators have been hampered by injury experience and as a result limited some of what they call.
I’m sensing greater flexibility on defense and hoping the O has a few unseen tricks up its sleeve. Each week I see improvement.
AB is the guy, for better or worse, fair or unfair, that will carry the biggest load of responsibility. Comes with the position.
If the Ducks make the playoff or more the ESPN AB story line will be something.

but if OH ST defeats MI ST and OR wins at Utah I think OH ST jumps OR in the CT week 4 rankings.
Really? I’ll bet you Charles Fischer’s lunch that another Duck road win, at Utah, won’t drop the Ducks behind Tosu.

He has no lifeline or net under him in the case of injury.
Then whom do you play at QB? Are you willing to risk losing just to experiment with a younger player.
The Ducks are in control of their destiny. Win out and they will be undisputed champions.
I get the frustration at not seeing a strong consistent downfield passing game.
I don’t get the repeated griping about AB bring the QB. He’s gives the best shot at winning.
That’s all that matters.

ESPN wants the Ducks and PAC12 out.
They are in bed with the SEC.
Win out and that will shut them all up.

#21 is looking special. Mastro salivated at getting him. I see why. the natural vision, effective studder step fluid hips and quick burst. Understands north snd south.
He’s also got a different body than Dye or Verdel, already.
An off-season in the weight room is going to do good things fir him. He’s going to be a 225 pound fast twitch freak in two years.
The RB room looks really good going forward.-

Winning out is the path. Leave no questions. 1-0 is what gets that done.
They still don’t look like a championship team but show progress every week.
It’s torture to watch on occasion but they finish.

Has anyone invited Jimmy lake to discuss this thread. There’s real prowess on this board.

Love the resilience not giving up a TD after the long play.
AB looking decisive and protecting the football.
His ability on the read option and 230lbs is a real asset.
The Dye name at Oregon, forever-

A loss to Baylor looks better than a loss to Stanford
Are you sure?
The committee didn’t think so even before today’s loss.
The pundits griping about an undefeated 8-0 OU are going to have a lot to say, none of it good.
Ducks control their destiny.
Win out and there will be nothing but praise.
Utah not showing well at Arizona. -
The X factor with the Ducks is health which has led to inconsistent lineups and multiple position changes.
Does the defense take another step today with a more consistent lineup?
They are either getting better or getting worse. Nobody stays the same.

Same as My experience getting to bed a supermodel. Really enjoyed it. Knew it wasn’t a long term deal.

I just figured if we ever got blue chip talent , like we now have, it would be a walk into the playoffs!
Your not wrong but I think just letting the reality of how progress happens dampen your sense about reaching the destination
I think it will get a lot easier. I see the program as setting up for an ever more dominant run. Two more recruiting classes to complete the MC team.
when it’s top talent and physical specimens at every position and still no playoffs and continued annual losses against bad teams then I’ll grumble with you.
Im still VERY optimistic. This year is a huge challenge still. it’s gonna take a story book run.If we’re having this conversation two years from now

It’s a bit premature to compare us to Clemson
Then isn’t it equally premature to suggest MC will never win a title? That he’s only a recruiter and will never be more?
All I did was compare clemsons weak conference to the PAC 12. Never did I suggest we are Clemson during their undefeated run. But we could be.
Your prediction doesn’t even allow for the possibility.

I do too if rose bowls are your ceiling. Mario will never coach an undefeated team. He is a recruiter. And our conference is pathetic! No one gives us an ounce of respect. We need a pac 12 championship game against a top 10 USC.
Only Oregon would lose to Stanford. That was on Mario. And he will consistently lose 1 or 2 games no other top team or coach would.
Perhaps but what your suggesting is that MC is only a recruiter and will be what he was, is, and that he has reached his ceiling as a 50 year old second time head coach who is still two recruiting classes away from having the team be all his making for a school that didn’t originally plant to hire him as HC. MC is growing along with the program.
Stanford loss was ugly but I think your being a bit harsh in negating any growth or possibility of said in MC snd his staff and similarly ignoring that the Ducks are one of the youngest rosters in division one.
Respect comes from beating the top teams in big games. People forget the season once the playoffs start.
Clemson did just fine rolling a weak ACC each year.

Forget everyone else. Let them be losers.
MC is building something. Name one other school where the trajectory is even noticeably upwards in the p12? OSU?
it’s a different feel now at Oregon. Still two more signing classes before it’s a 100% MC team.I like the way it’s going.

It’s a tad disappointing to think on actually.
Wouldn’t it be nice to see a several year lackluster Lake team and the associated recruiting implosion?
A couple more years of Lake and watch a decade of mediocre husky teams?

WSU scores 25ish a game. This ain’t the air raid
Josh Pate: Oregon is a BETTER Job for Cristobal than Miami
in Our Beloved Ducks
Posted
I think people may underestimate that Mario Cristobal was hired as an assistant which begs a couple of questions about his want to stay.
Does MC sense the relative value of and unexpected opportunity to Coach the Ducks that was thrust on him and does it mean anything? Does it give him some extra loyalty to see it through. Nobody is questioning his work ethic.
I don’t think it’s lost on him what he has in terms of assists and the built in advantages they provide.
Oregon was likely a stepping stone for MC if taggert was more than a bait n switch sleaze. Would MC have been offered an equal or greater HC position? Maybe. Maybe more cash and unrealistic SleazEC money.
Does his family like Eugene and do they want to keep living there? Packing up young kids and dragging them where? Cant expect to see MC want less for his kids than the program recruits.
I believe Mario Cristobal is intent on building a National Championship at Oregon. I Don’t expect him to jump ship prior unless the program regresses.
if he wins the natty and the big money comes? Who knows but I could see MC as being a long time coach at Oregon.
