  1. I know there are different opinions out there but I think there's one thing we all can agree on. The PAC 10/12 needs to crap or get off the pot already. Every day I come home from work it seems there is something else. Today it's Apple and we're not in a crisis till mid March. It's been 9 freaking months. Whatever deal is being discussed won't be better in another 3 weeks. It will probably be worse. GK needs to get everyone together and say "this is the best deal we can get" and let the individual schools decide what they want to do. Enough already.
  2. Couldn't agree more with Crepea. Thanks PD for posting this.
  3. I don't know if anyone watched any XFL games last weekend, but they were using a similar set up with the time. I thought it worked pretty well. I also liked how they did extra points by eliminating the kicker all together. Made it more interesting. The fake injury thing is annoying, they need to get that under control.
  4. I'm right there with ya. I've actually enjoyed some of Afflecks movies and Borne series was great. Ford vs Ferrari was really good as well
  5. I get what you're saying Iowns, and look I'm no media apologist at all, there's a reason why most Americans don't trust the news anymore. But when you hear the same story from different sources are they all wrong and just looking for clicks? I'll respectfully disagree with people about Wilner and Canzano also for that matter. I like reading some of JW's stuff but if you're talking about having an agenda you have to include those 2 as well. Only people in the room know what's happening agreed, but the fact that this is dragging on is not a good sign.
  6. Excluding the fanboy articles there are a lot of legitimate writers reporting the same thing. Folks can dismiss them as "propaganda" all they want but this is not looking good at all. Personally, I saw this coming all along. This isn't all on GK, this goes back to years of mismanagement of the conference even before Larry Scott. Anyone out there my age remember Tom Hansen? He was just as bad. I see a lot of people claiming there's no way Oregon or the Fuskies join the Big12 or Big 10. Really? If I came on this thread 2 years ago and said USC and UCLA would leave and join a conference that makes no geographical sense at all you would've probably said the same thing. When it comes $$$ and sports nothing is off the table. And I guess it's just a "coincidence" that Yormark does an interview with the 2 biggest PAC 12 honks out there. Yeah, ok. Dude's got a plan If the PAC had such a great deal it already would've been signed by now folks. Now SBJ, is reporting that Amazon only wants 1 game a week. Yikes. Hang on it's going to be a bumpy ride.
  7. I dunno Charles, I think you know how I feel about the PAC's chances going forward and now I'm hearing ASU isn't happy with what's going on. Like you I've felt adding SMU doesn't make sense or move the needle much. I know everyone is talking about the Dallas market but looking at comments from people there in the area nobody is really excited about SMU sports. Utah, to their credit has a pretty engaged fan base. Can joining the PAC create a buzz for the Mustangs? I'm not so sure. I think at this point GK has to do something but man things are not looking good. I'm just going to enjoy these next few years because the winds of change are blowing. Enjoy the Super Bowl everyone.
  8. Winner: Eagles Score: 28 - 24 Chiefs Passing: 280 Eagles Rushing: 150 MVP: DeVonta Smith
  9. The title of this thread says "Maria lost his OC..." I know that's just a typo but the 12-year-old me thinks that is hilarious and great smack talk.
  10. I'm happy for Coach Klemm and his family. Good for them! Anytime you get a shot in the NFL you have to take it. I think if we are all honest, we knew sooner or later this would probably happen, but it is a bummer definitely. I guess it's better now than later. I'd like to think the OL recruits who signed chose Oregon for more than just 1 coach but to me if that's a dealbreaker cool, there are a lot of kids who would love to come play for this team. I have all the confidence that DL will get someone who is more than qualified. Go Ducks!
  11. Valid point Kurt and I would agree with you if this was a just a one-off. I think every coach in college football would consider Alabama. However, there is a pattern here with Mario and his coordinators especially on the offensive side. A lot of people thought Gattis was overrated but how do you go from being an award-winning coach to being either fired or quitting in 1 year depending on who you ask? Do I need to bring up Moorhead? I'm just saying dude needs to look in the mirror and ask why this keeps happening Alabama or no Alabama. Nobody like to go to work and be screamed at or not listened to.
  12. How many coordinators has this guy gone through now between Oregon and Miami? At this point is any decent coach really going to put up with his act? I don't think so. He's flaming out faster than Slick Willie at FSU. I've said it before his ego and pride are his own worst enemies. Good guy and family man but this isn't the days of Woody Hayes and Bear Bryant anymore. There's an old saying that goes something like "If everyone else is always the problem maybe the problem isn't everyone else". What a dumpster fire and thank you Miami for getting him out of here!
  13. Well I was born and raised in Oregon and still live in the PNW and I have agreed with the basic premise of this article from the beginning. Realignment is going to happen again whether any of us like it or not. I know everyone is pointing to the expanded playoff as a good thing which I agree it is. But it's not going to solve the problem. Right now anyone not named the BIG10 or the SEC is looking at about a $30 million a year deficit to those 2 conferences. That's right now. What do you think is going to happen in 2030 when all these conferences including the ACC start redoing TV deals? It's going to be an all out war. Will streaming make up that difference? I don't think so but who knows. Will adding schools like SDSU and SMU make up the difference? Absolutely not. Sorry, I love everyone's valuing tradition and I would love to see the PAC stay a major conference but long term I just don't see it happening. In my opinion Oregon needs to look out for Oregon and make sure they are in the right spot to continue to be a major player in collegiate sports.
  14. I don't see this as a bad thing at all. To me this is a win/win for everyone. I know as fans we get attached to players but if we're honest was he ever the answer at TE? Not bashing the young man at all. This falls into the category of an honest conversation with the coaches about the future like others are speculating and Charles wrote about. I think he is still helping the team by opening up a spot. I suspect there will be more fan favorites leaving. As for Cam, dudes been on the team for 7 years. If he finishes out his eligibility he will have played major college football for a decade and he's got 2 degrees from a great university. That to me is a great accomplishment! I wish him the best as he goes forward in life. Once a Duck, always a Duck!
  15. No need to keep putting out a disclaimer guys. Either people get it, or they don't. Personally, I love it! It's the gift that keeps on giving. Only thing better would be if Slick Willie came back to the Pac....wait, what? He's teaming up with priME on a really bad Colorado team? Can next season start already!!!!
  16. I feel like it's time for a reset of the uniforms. Reminds me too much of the Cristobal era. I've watching old clips of LaMike and the unis of that time were pretty cool. Especially the all white. I miss the helmets with "O" on the side and I believe there was one that would change color. Maybe go back to those?
  17. This kind of reminds of the Chip saga that we dealt with for a few years. Personally, I don't blame him. He did a great job of turning my 49ers around and almost got a ring. But man, this brings back memories of every off season the rumor mill about where Chip was going. It got to be a huge distraction.
  18. Appreciate the transparency and honesty Charles. We all have our moments at times.
  19. Not a great look for the BIG10 at all this week: Kevin Warren may bolt to NFL. Ohio State collapses and gives up the biggest comeback in CFP history. Michigan believes its own hype, underestimates TCU in my opinion and gets beat. Now their fans are blaming the refs. Ouch And yes that was TD but even with the bad call you're still 1st and goal inside the one and you can't convert? C'mon man! And yes we've all seen lesser hits get flagged for targeting but even if they call it you're still looking at a Hail Mary. Happy New Year Everyone!
  20. Great points David. You brought up Funa but one only needs to look at Herbert and see the failure of the South Florida coach. I guess my point of all this is I don't care where the Ducks rank in recruiting at all. I just want to see a complete team for once. They have been offense heavy for years and yes to your point the Alabama's of college football have been getting the top recruits but they have been the right fit to their program not just because they have a 4 or 5 star. I feel at least for some Duck fans they only see the ranking. As you said the other thing is development. I agree. Like it or not the Beavs have developed their so called lower ranked players into a solid program that competes and doesn't quit. We haven't always been able to say that about some of our Duck teams can we? With DL and his SEC pedigree I trust him on this so if he's looking to bring this young man in then he's done his homework and if he chooses Oregon I say welcome.
  21. Honestly I'm about done with the so called star ratings. Look at all the 4-5 stars Mario brought in that didn't live up to expectations. To me it's all about how this young man and everyone else is going to fit in the progrum to build a team. You brought up great points Charles. If he's waffling on his weight or whether he wants to do track then I'd say pass. Nothing wrong with him doing that and he sounds like a good dude with goals but I've felt Oregon and Duck fans in particular have been chasing recruiting rankings as of late and not looking at the bigger picture. I think Coach DL is changing that mindset. Again look at what the Beavs and others are doing with their so called lower ranked players who fit what they want to do and look at teams like A$M who are getting top ranked classes. Something to think about.
  22. I've down on that kid playing in the secondary for awhile I must admit. I used to cringe when he came in because I knew the other team was going right after him. But you're right the last few games he has turned it around and is starting to make me eat my words gratefully. Better coaching now maybe? Or is he just maturing?
  23. Great recap Charles. I'm not surprised there was a drop off in the offensive production. With the ASU coach gone and Bo still not 100% that's what I expected. My interest in this game was on the defense. Anyone who's read my boring posts knows how I've felt about Lupoi's defense all year. They've been B-A-D. The first half didn't change those feelings. Not getting off the field on 3rd OR 4th down, giving up 5-7 yard runs up the middle on 1st down, the secondary ugh. I almost turned the game off. However, to me at least, the second half brought little glimmers of hope that I started feeling in the Utah game. The defense was making plays, getting off the field, not giving up stupid penalties or big gains and actually kept Oregon in the game. I know there is still a lot to work on but maybe just maybe Lupoi and Co are figuring it out. I've said it all year, if the Ducks had an average defense this year they would be playing this weekend. It is what it is but I'm hopeful again that next year we will see a big improvement on the defensive side. Go Ducks
